Andhra Pradesh Congress chief demands answers from PM Modi on fate of bifurcation promises

The APCC president noted that the people of Andhra Pradesh are anguished over unfulfilled bifurcation promises such as according special category status to the state and others. PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Visakhapatnam today to participate in the 11th International Yoga Day on Saturday morning. Amaravati, June 20 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila on Friday demanded answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the fate of promises made during Andhra Pradesh bifurcation, as he is poised to participate in the International Yoga Day in the state. 'Modi is coming and going from Visakhapatnam… but what happened to bifurcation promises? It has already been 10 years, and the special category status is a right from the bifurcation (of united Andhra Pradesh),' said Sharmila in a press release. Alleging that Modi cheated the state, she noted that the PM was not even responding to the issue of the special category status, and claimed that though 'Modi is deceiving', TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan are continuing to support him. According to Sharmila, Modi has also 'cheated' the state with respect to the height of Polavaram Project by lowering the dam's height from 45 m to 41 m. Likewise, she alleged that the state was deceived in the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) issue also, asserting that it was promised that the industry would not be privatised but it is getting 'sold'. Claiming that there was no change in stance over VSP, Sharmila alleged that 4,000 workers were fired. Further, questioning the need to build a capital with 'debts', referring to greenfield capital city Amaravati, she asserted that Naidu and Kalyan are backing Modi even though he is 'backstabbing'. 'Is Yogandhra needed when there is no attention for people's problems,' she said. Moreover, she assailed YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for allegedly making provocative statements. She claimed that Reddy has Modi's support, which is why all his 'actions are being condoned'. Meanwhile, there was immediate reaction from the TDP. Sharmila says she is a victim of KCR's phone tapping

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila Reddy said that she is ready to attend the phone tapping case inquiry whenever she is asked to as she was also a victim of it. Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Sharmila made it clear that it is a fact that the phone tapping occurred as both the YSRCP and TRS governments colluded with one another during their tenure. 'Along with my phone, my husband's and close associates' phones were also tapped. Member of Rajya Sabha Y V Subba Reddy himself confirmed that my phone calls were tapped and also made me hear a recorded audio call which was tapped then,' she said. She swore by the Bible that the phone tapping occurred during YSRCP's tenure. She urged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu governments to expedite the investigation into the phone tapping case and do justice to victims. Criticising that the relationship shared between YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and K Chandrashekar Rao was stronger than the one shared through blood relation, YS Sharmila Reddy alleged that the phone tapping was a sketch that the two former Chief Ministers did together to weaken her politically and financially in Telangana. Sharmila expressed her anger that the joint operation was carried out by the then chief ministers by tapping phones of political leaders and their followers. However, the APCC chief made it clear that the phone tapping was a small issue compared to the anarchical rule of the Jagan Mohan Reddy and KCR governments. She alleged that Jagan had forgotten the fact that she was his younger sister and had conspired several times against her so that she would not grow economically and politically. 'Jagan has nothing to do with my launching a party in Telangana. But he wanted to crush me for the sake of KCR,' she said.

YS Sharmila accuses ex Telangana, Andhra chief minsiters of illegal phone tapping

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila Reddy accused former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of orchestrating a joint phone-tapping operation targeting her and her close associates.'Phone tapping did happen, that is the undeniable truth,' Sharmila said during a press meet in Visakhapatnam, claiming that her own phone, her husband's, and those close to her were illegally surveilled. She alleged that the surveillance was part of a larger conspiracy to cripple her politically and claimed that YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy had personally informed her about the surveillance. 'He even played one of the tapped audios to me. Now, I doubt he will admit it, because Jagan used him to lie even in matters involving his own relatives,' she said. Sharmila, who is also the sister of Jagan Reddy, accused him of teaming up with KCR to suppress her political ambitions. 'Back then, the relationship between Jagan and KCR made even blood ties look weak,' she said, adding that the phone tapping was a key component of their strategy to isolate and threaten her supporters.'They made even breathing difficult for me,' she remarked, detailing how her political allies were threatened and prevented from supporting her. She claimed the operation intensified after she decided to form her own party in had no business with my decision to start a party in Telangana. He wanted to crush me for KCR's sake,' she also questioned why she stayed silent earlier. 'Ask why I didn't react when I heard it in my own house,' she said. 'At that time, the tyranny of Jagan and KCR was unimaginable. Compared to their atrocities, phone tapping felt minor.'Insisting that she is ready to cooperate with any inquiry, she appealed to both the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments to investigate the phone tapping scandal. 'Now that Chandrababu is in power here, and Revanth Reddy is Chief Minister in Telangana, both governments must launch a thorough investigation,' she concluded by reiterating that previous governments 'don't exist anymore,' and that the time has come for truth and accountability. 'I will go wherever I'm summoned. It's time for both state governments to seriously probe the phone-tapping scandal.' IN THIS STORY#Andhra Pradesh#Telangana

Talliki Vandanam excluded 20 lakh students: APCC president Sharmila

KADAPA: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's one-year governance report, dubbing it an 'election campaign pamphlet' filled with tall claims and broken promises. Speaking to the media during her visit to Kadapa on Thursday, Sharmila raised questions over the implementation of the Talliki Vandanam scheme. 'There are 87 lakh students in the State, but only 67 lakh have benefited from Talliki Vandanam. What about the remaining 20 lakh students?' she asked, alleging that they have been deceived. Sharmila criticised the NDA government for claiming that every student would benefit from the scheme. 'How is this a tribute to mothers when 20 lakh students are excluded?' she questioned, demanding that the scheme be extended to all students. Targeting the NDA, she said, 'This marks one year of Naidu's rule, and his so-called report card reads more like a glorified election pamphlet.' She challenged the government to clarify how much was promised and how much was delivered. 'Even after a year, promises like 'Super Six' remain directionless, and the promised free bus travel is still on hold, delayed under the guise of festivals,' she said. She emphasised that election manifestos are not mere documents to be ignored at will. 'They should have a five-year timeline, and should be implemented sincerely,' the APCC president said.

Sharmila assails Naidu's one-year rule

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila Reddy on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, marking one year of his administration. She alleged that Naidu's progress during this period has been limited to mere boasting and issuing 'progress reports.' Sharmila Reddy stated that the 'progress report' released by the Naidu government resembles an election campaign document. 'It only mentions what needs to be done, failing to clearly demonstrate what has been achieved,' she said, questioning, 'How much was promised, and how much was delivered?' The APCC chief expressed severe dissatisfaction with the implementation of the 'Super Six' schemes including free bus travel for women, Unemployment Allowance & 20 Lakh Jobs, Talliki Vandanam, Annadata Sukhibhava, Mahila Sakthi scheme. Referring to other promises and financial status, Sharmila mentioned the promise of an annual job calendar in January. She accused the Chandrababu government of imposing an additional burden of Rs 17,000 crore in electricity bills on the public within a year, raising charges twice under the guise of 'adjustment.' She reminded the government of its election promise not to increase charges. Sharmila asserted that the Chandrababu administration has accumulated nearly Rs one lakh crore in debt in one year. She drew parallels with the previous Jagan regime, which amassed Rs 10 lakh crores in debt, stating that both leaders have turned the State into 'Debt-ridden Andhra Pradesh.' She accused Chandrababu of subservience to the BJP, stating that he remains silent even when the BJP deceives the State. APCC Chief YS Sharmila Reddy speaking to the media in Vijayawada on Thursday
