As per the release, on this occasion, AICC Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said that the biggest problem for the youth today is unemployment, BJP had promised to provide two crore jobs every year but there is nothing on the ground. The youth of the country need employment today, and Rahul Gandhi is the only leader who is constantly fighting for it, from Parliament to the streets. On this occasion, the National President of the Indian Youth Congress, Uday Bhanu Chib, said that the BJP gave us unemployment. In response to that, we organised a job fair. The Youth Congress's job fair is not just an event; it is a campaign of those who believe in the vision of Rahul Gandhi. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who has been constantly raising the issue of unemployment, gave us this opportunity to become a solution to this problem on his birthday. For the youth who are getting jobs, it is not just their victory; it is an inspiration for us, too. The youth who participated in the job fair said, 'Today, the work that the government should have done is being done by Rahul Gandhi.' Today, thousands of youth are saying that they have faith that Rahul Gandhi will work for them. According to the press release, Delhi Pradesh Congress President Devendra Yadav said, 'This Rojgar Mela, organised by Indian Youth Congress and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, is not an ordinary event; it is a concrete effort to provide jobs to the youth! The government has now become silent after promising 2 crore jobs every year. Now there is no talk, nor is there any answer. Therefore, now the opposition has taken the responsibility that if the government backs down, we will go ahead and get the youth their rights!' Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress President Akshay Lakra said that this crowd of Rojgar Mela is not just for a fair, it is the call of that generation which has been struggling with false promises and unfulfilled intentions for years. This huge crowd clearly says that the youth of the country do not need any mercy; they just need an opportunity. BJP and AAP governments have been in power for years, but such a Rojgar Mela never happened. On the birthday of Rahul Gandhi, we have returned the rights of the youth by giving them employment. During this, many National General Secretaries of Youth Congress, Secretaries, and State Presidents were also present in today's program. Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Bajrang Punia said, 'I want to congratulate IYC and all Congress leaders for organising this job fair. BJP did not stand up to its promises, which is why the opposition is taking up the task of providing jobs to unemployed youth of the country.' (ANI)

T'gana CM to meet Union Jal Shakti Minister, discuss river-linking project

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will meet Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil in Delhi on Thursday to convey the state's objections to the proposed Polavaram (Godavari)-Banakacharla river linking project by neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. The CM, who left for Delhi on Thursday morning, is also expected to meet AICC leaders and other dignitaries in the national capital, official sources said. The Polavaram-Banakacharla link project is aimed at diverting surplus Godavari water to the drought-hit regions of Andhra Pradesh, a move Telangana argues is detrimental to its water rights. Reddy, accompanied by state Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, held a meeting on Wednesday with MPs from all parties to gather views on finalising the state's strategy to oppose the project. Later, speaking to reporters, Revanth Reddy said his government is in the first stage of employing the traditional approach of 'saam, daan, bhed, dand' (conciliation, concession, division and force) to challenge the project through political and legal channels. The CM has said the state government had swiftly complained to the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) and the Union Minister C R Patil when Naidu mooted the Banakacharla project. Responding to opposition BRS' criticism that he remained silent while Andhra Pradesh "took away" Godavari water, Revanth Reddy said it was former CM Chandrasekhar Rao who, during a 2016 meeting of the two state chief ministers in Delhi, first proposed utilising the 3,000 TMC of Godavari water flowing into the sea. "The foundation stone was laid that day. The foundation for the idea of providing water to Rayalaseema (in Andhra Pradesh) by transferring 3,000 TMC Godavari water to Krishna basin was laid that day. This is record of the minutes of that meeting," he said. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier said the Polavaram (Godavari)-Banakacherla project is aimed at taking surplus Godavari waters to the drought-hit regions in the state. Naidu highlighted that Telangana need not worry as only excess water from the Godavari river will be utilised, which otherwise would drain into the sea.

Amid growing intraparty tensions, Vinay Kumar likely to take over as HPCC chief

Shimla, June 17(UNI) After months of intense lobbying and factional tug-of-war, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is reportedly close to announcing Assembly deputy speaker Vinay Kumar as the next Himachal Pradesh Congress president. The move appears aimed at caste-balancing, rewarding loyalty, and bridging the rift within the state unit. Vinay Kumar, MLA from Shri Renukaji and a Dalit leader, enjoys support from both Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri. Despite his roots in the Virbhadra Singh camp, his moderate image and non-confrontational stance during the 2024 Rajya Sabha election crisis — when he resisted BJP overtures and stood by the Congress — seem to have tipped the scales in his favour. With the party poised to replace Pratibha Singh, widow of the late Virbhadra Singh, citing the 'one family, one post' principle, the Congress high command appears to be delicately balancing political arithmetic and internal dissent. Sources indicate that CM Sukhu had pitched a panel of four names, including Sanjay Awasthi, Vinod Sultanpuri, Suresh Kumar, and Vinay Kumar, with the latter emerging as the consensus candidate. Vinay's elevation will vacate the deputy speaker's post, prompting speculation that Sanjay Ratan, Bhuvneshwar Gaur, or Chandrashekhar could be considered to fill the slot — each offering their own factional value. However, the long delay in appointing a new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president has only exacerbated tensions within the Himachal Congress. The dissolution of all party units seven months ago left a vacuum, amplifying internal discontent. Observers believe the indecision reflects AICC's inability to rein in factionalism or present a coherent leadership roadmap in the hill state. Meanwhile, increasing bus fares, removal of diagnostic test subsidies, Rs 10 patient registration charges in hospitals, water and milk price hikes, and raised power tariffs are fueling resentment. Revenue stamp and documentation cost hikes are further straining public trust. The government's perceived extravagance in the face of dwindling resources and a central government squeeze on funds has painted a bleak fiscal picture. While Vinay Kumar's appointment could momentarily stabilize the Congress, experts warn that unless followed by sincere grassroots engagement and corrective economic measures, it may do little to revive the party's public image.
