Riddhi Dogra says, may be 'Jawan' makers didn't want to call Deepika Padukone Shah Rukh Khan's mother, so she became Kaveri Amma: 'I need redemption'
Shah Rukh Khan
starrer 'Jawan' saw
Riddhi Dogra
play his mother-like character in the film. She was called Kaveri Amma and Riddhi still finds it ridiculous to be SRK's mom and be called 'Kaveri Amma'. 'Jawan' directed by Atlee also starred Nayanthara while
Deepika Padukone
had an extended cameo in the film.
In a recent interview, Riddhi has spoken about being a mother figure to SRK's character in the film. She told Screen, "SRK is eternally young and I am like a mother to him, that's ridiculous, that's the stuff nightmares are made of. I was directly called to meet Atlee on the sets of Jawan. I was very happy, but I didn't know where I was going and what was happening. After reaching there, I realized that they were shooting Jawan, the whole set was ready.
Atlee explained the role to me, and I was like, 'No, what makes you think I am this person?''
She added, 'There is a younger part in the movie, and I am not his mother. I think they just didn't want to call Deepika the mother, so I became Kaveri Amma, but Deepika was the mother. I was the guardian. For me, it was like, what the hell. I was also in a funky headspace at that time. I thought it's just one life, and I shouldn't let go of this opportunity.

I was getting to be on a set with Atlee, so I thought I should just do it.'
Talking about being on the set with Shah Rukh, Deepika and working with them, Riddhi said, 'For me, it was more like being on the set and seeing how Shah Rukh works. I didn't realize that I would be there acting with him. It was painful. I need to do a project with him in this lifetime to erase this memory. I need that redemption. Deepika is fantastic; she is very empathetic, and I took that from her.
Just looking at her, you could tell that she is very present and grateful for what she has through her demeanor.
If you work in an environment like that, it is gratifying for everyone.'
She was also nervous to play the role. The actress said, 'I was very nervous to play Kaveri Amma, very scared. Throughout the shoot, my anxiety was hitting the roof. I was having a panic attack every day because I just couldn't understand how it was going to make sense.
It was not like a project that would come and go; it was a massive film. I never questioned my decision, but I had a lot of nerves.'
One thing Ridhi Dogra regrets is that she didn't get to meet Shah Rukh Khan properly. She says, 'Having SRK around added to the nervousness. I don't think I have spoken to him. I am not proud of it. I went to his house. He had a little party after the release, and it is ridiculous how I couldn't go up to him. Now, when I look back, I had friends over there, people who knew him, I should have just told someone to take me to him. I met his wife, mother-in-law, and his kids, but him…I need a reset.

Anushka Sharma reveals why she and Virat Kohli are keeping their children Vamika and Akaay away from the public eye: 'We don't want to raise brats'
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have always kept thier children Vamika and Akaay away from the public eye. Their celebrity status and popularity make it difficult for them to hide their children but the couple has strived hard to maintain that. In a recent interview, Anushka opened up on parenting and their decision to keep children away from the public eye. She also spoke about the importance of raising kids with the right values. The actress said during a chat with Vogue, "Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world. I come from a progressive background, so that will always be a part of our home. Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what's important to us is that our child be respectful of people. You have to create that value structure. We don't want to raise brats." She added, "Times have changed. It's important for children to look at their parents—they learn from you. And there is a sense of normalcy that both of us do work. Of course, one will have to manage things differently and more efficiently to work." Talking about parenting and how difficult it is, Anushka added, "You have to learn as you go; you can't pressurise yourself, but you have to be prepared because there will be curveballs." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo The 'Band Baaja Baaraat' actress also opened up on raising her children away from the limelight. She said, "We've thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don't plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it's a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It's hard enough for adults to deal with it. It's going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through. " The actress has largely been spending time away from movies, ever since she embraced motherhood and is being quite selective about her work.

'This city will be under water': Actor Meerra Chopraa on Mumbai's alarming urban reality
Actor Meerra Chopraa , known for her work in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, recently took to social media to raise concerns about the vanishing green spaces in Mumbai. In a tweet accompanied by a video, Chopraa highlighted the rapid urbanisation and unchecked development in the city. 'This is the reality of Mumbai. Hardly any piece of empty land is left. Green belts are sold, SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) land is sold, commercial and residential spaces are exhausted. There is absolutely no space to breathe. This city will be under water in no time if this land corruption isn't stopped!' she warned. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Darling! Live Events 'Real estate in India has become the most corrupt sector. If it's not regulated soon, it will damage both the economy and the social fabric. And it's all due to collusion,' one user commented. 'India should learn from China—how to build clean, green, and noise-free cities,' said another. Another X user sid, "A harsh truth that can't be ignored. Mumbai's concrete race is coming at the cost of its soul — green cover, open spaces, and safety. If unchecked, it's not just about floods — it's about the future we're burying under real estate greed. Time to wake up." However, not everyone agreed with her viewpoint. One critic argued, 'People love Dubai despite it having hardly any trees, but when something similar happens in India, the same people who own apartments in Dubai complain. You bought an apartment, not the whole neighbourhood. You can't expect others to leave land vacant just so you can breathe. If you want space, move out of Mumbai and buy a bungalow. We're just born to keep complaining.' Chopraa's remarks have reignited the ongoing debate about sustainable urban planning, green cover, and the impact of real estate development on the quality of life in India's financial capital. Just last month, the financial capital of India saw flooding due to early monsoon rains. Meanwhile, IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for this week anticipating heavy rains.
