KUANTAN: A 15-year-old girl has gone missing after being dropped off at school yesterday, leaving her mother anxiously hoping for her safe return.
Form Three student Nik Nur Hidayah Nik Abdullah was dropped off at her secondary school here at 6.30am by her 49-year-old mother.
The mother returned to pick up her daughter at 2.30pm and waited outside the school gate for an hour with no sign of Nik Nur Hidayah.
Growing increasingly worried, she entered the school premises to search for her daughter.
Kuantan district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, said the woman checked with teachers and searched the school premises but was unable to locate the girl.
"One of the girl's friends claimed she saw Nik Nur Hidayah and another student leaving in a white Perodua Axia through the school's rear exit.
"The mother immediately lodged a police report. She informed authorities that she and her husband had no issues or conflicts with their only child," he said in a statement today.
Wan Mohd Zahari said that the missing girl is between 140cm and 150cm tall, has a medium build, and was last seen wearing her school uniform.
He urged anyone with information about the girl's whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
