MACC Detains Two Individuals For Submitting False Particulars In RM8.1 Mln Fraud
PUTRAJAYA, May 27 (Bernama) -- Two individuals have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of submitting false particulars amounting to approximately RM8.1 million, involving the provision of machinery rental services, facilities, and waste disposal.
According to sources, a former company owner and a former Chief Financial Officer, both in their 40s to 50s, were arrested around 6:30 pm yesterday when they arrived to give their statements at the MACC Headquarters here.
"Both suspects are believed to be involved in corruption and money laundering for the provision of machinery and facility rental services between 2019 and 2021.

KUALA LUMPUR:The ringgit is expected to stay defensive within a tight range next week, as traders and investors will continue to observe the military conflict in the Middle East, said an analyst. The ringgit ended the week easier against the greenback, closing at 4.2505/2565 on Friday from 4.2435/2480 a week earlier. The local note traded mostly higher against a basket of major currencies. The ringgit rose vis-à-vis the Japanese yen to 2.9245/9289 from 2.9448/9482 at Friday's close, went up against the British pound to 5.7356/7437 from 5.7482/7543 previously, but depreciated versus the euro to 4.9000/9069 from 4.8906/8958 at the end of last week. The ringgit traded mostly higher against ASEAN currencies. The local note declined against the Singapore dollar to 3.3088/3140 on Friday from 3.3077/3118 in the previous week, advanced versus the Indonesian rupiah to 259.2/259.7 from 260.2/260.6 previously, and strengthened versus the Thai baht to 12.9727/9969 from 13.0807/1018 last week. Meanwhile, the ringgit also rose against the Philippine peso at 7.43/7.45 compared to 7.55/7.56 previously. - Bernama

Cops probe Singapore-registered car for driving against traffic
JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating an incident involving a Singapore-registered vehicle travelling against traffic at Km55 of the Senai–Desaru Expressway yesterday. Kota Tinggi police chief Supt Yusof Othman said that the incident is believed to have occurred at around 11.31am yesterday, and a 12-second video was subsequently uploaded to the 'Community Roda Johor' Facebook page. "The white vehicle with the registration number SNT4298 was recorded driving against the traffic, endangering other road users," he said in a statement today, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. He urged those with additional information about the incident to contact Traffic Enforcement Officer Insp Amirul Mustakim Mustaza at 017-479 3329 to assist in the investigation. "Police advise all road users always to stay vigilant and obey traffic laws for the safety of everyone," he added. – Bernama
