Lori Vallow Daybell Breaks Silence After Convicted of Murdering Kids

Lori Vallow Daybell is speaking out for the first time.
The 51-year-old appeared in her first-ever onscreen interview to break her silence on being convicted of first-degree murder in 2023 in the killings of her 7-year-old son Joshua "JJ" Vallow and her 16-year-old daughter Tylee Ryan, as well as conspiring to murder her husband Chad Daybell's first wife Tamara "Tammy" Daybell.
For Lori—who denies any wrongdoing in all three 2019 deaths—she said the media's portrayal of her throughout the trial was completely off base.
"We all know what the media does," Lori told NBC Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison in a March 7 interview. "They exaggerate everything and they make stuff up and they twist things around. So, I don't know how it became what it is today. It's amazing to me."
Describing herself as "absolutely" misunderstood, she continued, "How do you know a person if you've never talked to them in five years? How do you know anything about them? How do you know anything about their life, how it really is?"

Lori—who was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without parole for conspiring to commit first-degree murder and grand theft by deception in the killings of her two children—went on to deny being present when Joshua and Tylee were murdered by her late brother Alexander Cox on the alleged orders of her and Chad, who had both become obsessed with doomsday-focused religious beliefs. As she insisted, "I was not there."
Furthermore, the matriarch was confident she and Chad—who was convicted on all charges in 2024 for the three murders and subsequently sentenced to death—will be proven innocent soon, telling Keith, "After I get exonerated, maybe I'll go on Dancing With the Stars and you can come."
And as for the 2019 murder of her estranged husband Charles Vallow? Lori—who pleaded not guilty to accusations that she conspired to commit the killing with her brother Alex—said she's feeling "great" about acting as her own attorney in the upcoming trial over his fatal shooting. (Alex died of natural causes in December 2019 and was never charged.)
However, the Idaho native did admit that taking on the role of a lawyer has been a "difficult thing to do."
Jury selection for the trial over Charles' shooting is scheduled to begin March 31.

Beloved Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan has died aged 76. The star's body was discovered days after her death in her apartment, with authorities confirming she was found in a state of advanced decomposition in her apartment in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi. It emerged on Saturday (21.06.25) local police had said the veteran actress had died at least a week earlier, with neighbours alerting her family only after detecting a strong odour from the residence. Tributes have poured in for the star, with actor Adnan Siddiqui saying in a statement: 'She was never loud, never needing to prove anything – her craft did all the talking. 'Her kindness, her elegance, her calm strength, all of it taught me so much, even when she wasn't trying to.' Ayesha's body was discovered on the night of 19 June, according to a spokesperson for the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police, but news of her passing is only now coming to light. The actress had been living alone for many years, having largely stepped away from the entertainment industry. Her children, police said, did not live nearby. Dr Summaiya Syed, a police surgeon at Jinnah Hospital, confirmed to local media that a post-mortem examination would not proceed until her son arrived. Preliminary assessments suggested Ayesha was in the bathroom when she died. Police have begun questioning neighbours and family members as part of their investigation. Ayesha was a celebrated figure in Pakistani television and film, known for her performances in acclaimed drama serials such as Akhri Chattan, Tipu Sultan: The Tiger Lord, Dehleez, Bol Meri Machli and Ek Aur Aasman. She also starred in Soteli Maamta, her most recent screen appearance, which aired on Hum TV in 2020. The actress was the elder sister of late TV star Khalida Riyasat. A versatile performer, Ayesha appeared in both comedic and dramatic roles and was frequently cast alongside actors Qazi Wajid and Talat Hussain. Her long-standing collaboration with these actors made her part of one of PTV's most loved on-screen ensembles. Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry. Hum TV, with whom Ayesha frequently worked, issued a statement saying: 'May her soul rest in peace. Our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.' Adnan Siddiqui, 54, remembered his first encounter with Ayesha during the filming of Uroosa. 'She was my on-screen mother but brought a compassion reminiscent of a maternal figure,' he said in a post on Instagram – adding: 'She was an atmosphere. And her absence will be deeply felt.' On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Hernandez House: Gabi is having a hard time with work when Javi approaches. She apologizes again for firing him and the way she treated him. She asks what it will take to get him to come back to work. She begs him to say yes but he says he's accepted a new job as a rookie firefighter/paramedic. Gabi asks about experience and Javi fills her in on his experience in Corpus Christie. She's thrilled for her cousins and vows to completely support him. The Spectator: Leo finds out Philip is denying Xander assaulted him. He hangs up just as Chad limps in. Leo rightfully assumes the skydiving is to blame. Chad explains the entire situation including Cat saying she's not going to bother him again. Chad asks about work-related things and Leo says EJ's case has gone cold. He does report Philip is awake, but Xander wasn't the one who beat him silly. Chad tells him to take off and get some rest and the two exit together. Sophia's House: Tate arrives to pick up Sophia who doesn't feel like celebrating. She says she is feeling ok but gets a good swift kick every five minutes. Tate grabs a feel and notes how real everything is getting. Sophia doesn't think she's going to be much fun, but Tate wants her to come along. Cat understands and says she is trying to find a way to move forward after the accident which killed her father and the one which put her in the hospital for two years. Chad suggests they try to move forward together. The Bistro: Gabi arrives and is all by her lonesome. She texts Arianna Grace when Will walks in and they embrace. They take a seat and discuss their daughter's sudden return to Salem. Just then, Arianna arrives and takes a seat. Gabi brings up Arianna Grace sneaking out which annoys her to no end. Will pipes up saying he's not thrilled to learn this information and notes she has broken curfew a few times with him and Sonny. Arianna can't believe they are spending time discussing such trivialities as she is an adult. Her parents both note she isn't paying her own bills nor living in her own place. Hernandez House: Leo and Javi arrive home and are all over each other. Just then, young Douglas arrives with the envelope in tow. Javi decides to leave them alone as he needs to 'go get ready' (Hmmm…). Left alone, Doug shows Leo the contents of the envelope and asks if he could get a loan to get these goons to back down. Leo agrees to give him as much as he can spare. Horton Square: Aaron sits with Sophia and have an adorkably awkward conversation. He notes how before he moved away, he thought they might end up together. Holly tells Tate that her mother said she would be there or graduation (really?). She's also looking at colleges in Europe. Holly wonders if Tate has considered where he will go to school. Tate admits he got into Salem U as after rehab he never got his grades back on track. Holly realizes she is the reason his life was so side-tracked. Endings Young Douglas thanks Leo for helping him with money and support. Leo says he also has a lead on the Horton necklace, but he probably won't be able to afford to buy it back. Leo asks how Doug got into this mess to begin with. Doug says he was delivering merchandise for this man so they could sell it on the down low. One night, he stopped at a bar and met a woman. The next morning his car had been vandalized, and all the merchandise was gone. The men he's dealing with now are even worse. Doug thanks him for his help and support and exits. Just then, Javi comes back in the room saying the room is ready for their celebration. Arianna Grace exits to the restroom and calls young Douglas, and he ignores it. Cat decides she should make Chad dinner, and he agrees to hang out. Sophia is surprised to learn Aaron thought they would end up together. He understands so many things have changed since then which leads Sophia to look over at Holly and Tate. Holly says how badly she feels about Tate taking the blame for her choices. Tate says he always wants to protect and support her. Holly used to believe that was true and then says he should get back to Sophia. She hugs him close before sending him on his way.
