Nintendo Direct March 2025 - all the big Switch game announcements
As promised, Nintendo dropped its first Direct presentation of the year on Thursday afternoon, delivering a fitting farewell to the beloved Switch.
After eight successful years, the console is making way for its more powerful successor, the Switch 2. Those aren't tears, we just have something in our eye.
With the new device set to have its own Direct on April 2, this one felt like a warm-up act ahead of the main event.
Still, the showcase delivered a solid overview of Nintendo's upcoming releases and major third-party titles that should see the Switch through this year. As expected, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A were both on deck, along with some cool surprises (game-sharing!).
Maybe it's worth holding on to your Switch a little longer after all. Here's everything that was announced at the March Nintendo Direct.
In a new gameplay trailer, Samus explores a lush alien world with a massive tree at its core. Players will scan relics, battle alien creatures, and use psychic powers to manipulate the environment. Samus can also control beam trajectories and interact with portals. The trailer ends with her in a shiny new red suit, but no release date beyond 2025 was confirmed.
Take on the role of a cafe owner serving up potions for iconic Disney villains like Ursula and Gaston. Each concoction leads to chaotic encounters, adding a mischievous twist to the gameplay. Available later today.
Like a pixelated take on Hogwarts Legacy, Witchbrook puts you in the shoes of a trainee witch at a magical academy. Fans of Kiki's Delivery Service will find plenty to like here. Best of all, the game features online co-op for up to four players.
A new gameplay trailer gave us a look at the new Pokémon game's Z-A Royale tournaments. Set in Lumiose City, players compete in battle zones across the metropolis at night, with battles triggered when you're spotted by NPCs. The goal is to rise through the ranks, starting at Z and working up to A, with each victory bringing you closer to having a wish granted. The tournaments feature surprise stealth attacks and the return of Mega Evolutions. Alas, we still didn't get a concrete release date.
Soon, you'll be able to share games between two Switch consoles with virtual game cards. Much like physical cartridges, you can lend titles to family members (but only for two weeks at a time). The feature requires a one-time Wi-Fi setup and works across both Switch and Switch 2 consoles. Virtual game cards will arrive via a free software update in late April.
The first Tomodachi Life game in over a decade plops those quirky Mii avatars on a remote island. Cue oddball interactions, friendships, and some unexpected chaos - at one point in the trailer, we saw a giant person chasing a much smaller one. Think Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but with Tomodachi Life's signature weirdness.
Nintendo is launching a new app that sounds like a mix between an events calendar - where you can keep track of upcoming Directs - and a news service devoted to its upcoming releases. It's dropping later today, and will get a lot busier following the Switch 2 deep dive on April 2.

You really thought you were popular,' ' she continues. The actress also shared how it feels 'so cool' to see the character find new life on social media and in meme culture. 'Sharpay is — I swear she's mother to everybody — because it's like she just keeps coming back on these memes and people keep talking and doing the songs,' she says. 'And I'm just like, I mean, out of everyone in High School Musical, my character is the most iconic. It's so cool.' X user @jrockandrollt, aka John 'Rock & Roll' Tolkien, took to the social media app on Monday, June 16, to share a photo of his receipt from his family's breakfast. The bill showed that he had spent $937.65, including a $150 tip. In the caption, he wrote, 'Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee." Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures, which is held at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, is a dining experience at the Anaheim theme park where guests get to enjoy a three-course breakfast and activities with Disney princesses, like storytime with Belle, according to the park's website. The meal starts with a tiered tower of appetizers like lobster rolls, cornbread and beignets. For the main course, kids can choose between chicken and Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles and macaroni and cheese, while adults have options like braised short ribs, deviled eggs and truffle macaroni and cheese. For the final course, guests can taste cream puffs, sorbet and other desserts. The price starts at $142 for adults and children ages 3 to 9, per the site, and tip and tax are not included. The post quickly garnered X users attention and has been viewed over 15.5 million times as of Wednesday, June 18. The original poster waded through commenters' questions and explained that the bill was for two children and three adults and that one person ordered a Bloody Mary. He joked in the comments, 'If I find that goddamn mouse I am going to mug him.' He also wrote that he felt the pricey venture was worth it, despite his shock at the bill: 'Kids enjoyed it, so I think it was worth it. The kids definitely learned some new words when I opened the bill though.' Two New Shows Just Premiered at Walt Disney World, and They're Pure Magic
Walt Disney World in Orlando just premiered two much-anticipated stage shows at Disney's Hollywood Studios - and they're fresh, innovative and spectacular. "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" and 'Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After" are both now open at the park. While vastly different productions, each is filled with Disney nostalgia and immersive special effects, including the use of dazzling lighting, state-of-the-art sound design, stunning costumes, spot-on casting and more. Our family was there for the new shows' debut on May 27, 2025. Here's everything you need to know about the performances and how to be among the first to see them. The new shows are at Disney's Hollywood Studios: a fitting spot because both are based on hit Disney movies, and Hollywood Studios celebrates the imagined worlds of cinema. "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" can be found in the park's Animation Courtyard, across from the limited-time dance party "Get Animated" and near Star Wars Launch Bay. "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After" is on Sunset Boulevard, just steps from the fan favorite Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. SheBuysTravel tip: If visiting this summer, make sure to head to Animation Courtyard early to enjoy a host of dynamic "Cool Kid Summer" themed events, including ongoing character meet-and-greets, games, crafts and jump rope performances. I attended the performances with my husband and three children (ages 5, 5 and 8). Both productions are upbeat and funny, and strike a wonderful balance of appealing to both kids and adults. Since both are based on widely seen Disney classics, everyone in our family was able to follow the storylines. "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" is colorful, lively and imaginative. "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After" features a few spooky moments (an onscreen dragon "breathing" fire across the stage), but the villains are presented as charming and mischievous. Both productions are fast-paced and action-filled, so there isn't really time for either to become scary. In "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure," my kids went wild when iridescent bubbles filled the theater during a rousing rendition of "Under the Sea." The puppetry is also incredible (and performed so invisibly that the show's many illusions are never broken). While "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After" puts the spotlight on three villains, nearly 60 other Disney antagonists are also featured on "mirrors" that surround the stage during the show. My kids loved spotting Wish's Magnifico, Aladdin's Jafar and Beauty and the Beast's Gaston, among others. SheBuysTravel tip: If traveling with young ones, keep your eyes on the show's many "mirrors" and try to name all the other Disney villains as they appear. While neither of the two new shows offer Lighting Lane access yet, both theaters offer continuous scheduled performances and high-capacity seating for each show. Standby lines should move quickly after an initial wait, and "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" is expected to begin offering Lightning Lane access soon. Showtimes for "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" are currently running from 9:15 a.m. to 7 p.m., and showtimes for "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After" are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. SheBuysTravel tip: To bypass crowds, stay at a Disney Resort Hotel (or a select Disney partner hotel) and enjoy 30-minute early entry to all four theme parks. "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" replaced the prior "Voyage of the Little Mermaid," a show housed in the same theater from 1992 to 2020. While both shows were inspired by Disney's 1989 film, the newest production is fully reimagined, creating an all-new theatrical experience. "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After" is in the space formerly occupied by the Cars-themed show Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy from 2019 to 2024. The theater has been dramatically renovated, with plush seating, a wide stage and an elaborate set. The attraction is thought to kick off the future Villains Land, a new themed area coming to the Magic Kingdom. There are many terrific live shows at Walt Disney World . The newest productions join the ranks of other family-friendly theater performances at Disney's Hollywood Studios, including Disney's Beauty and the Beast – Live On Stage and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Two of my other favorite shows are at Disney's Animal Kingdom: the epic larger-than-live musical show Festival of the Lion King, and the puppetry-filled extravaganza Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! While you still may gain entry close to showtime, the closest seats are filled quickly by those first in line.
