How Tom Brady-Antonio Brown friendship factored into Bill Belichick's shock $5,000 milk purchase
A pricey ingredient bound the early days of Tom Brady's and Antonio Brown's friendship.
That's according to former Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who spilled the tea — err, $5,000 worth of milk — when discussing the polarizing wide receiver's brief tenure in New England on 'The Pivot' podcast as part of a promotional run for his new book, 'The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.'
'One of the funny stories in the book is the Antonio Brown story. He was only with the Patriots for 11 days,' Belichick said, as covered by Fox News. 'And, Tom's very nutrition-oriented. Antonio wanted to… Tom had Antonio come and stay at his house, wanted to embrace him, bring him onto the team and so forth.

'… Antonio ordered this special milk for Brady, it cost $5,000. And, to make a long story short, it kinda got mixed up and ended up in the mailroom for too long, and the milk went bad.'

Brown, who landed with the Patriots early into the 2019 regular season after a wild breakup with the Raiders, ultimately got an assist from team brass when it came to replacing his original gift to Brady, known for his restrictive diet.

'So, we go out and get $5,000 worth of milk, this special milk, and give it to Brady from Antonio, even though, you know. So now, we turn in an expense report like $5,000 worth of milk. Sometimes, you've just got to do the right thing, and I didn't want to ruin the relationship between Brown and Brady on this spoiled milk,' Belichick said.

Brown's run with the Patriots lasted just one game as he was released by the team in September 2019 in light of sexual assault allegations.

However, the honeymoon phase between Brown and the Bucs fizzled a season later when he exited a January 2022 mid-game and was booted from the team.
And, like days-old milk left to sit in a mailroom, Brown's friendship with Brady also soured.

Brown has repeatedly taken shots at Brady, even going after the seven-time Super Bowl winner's personal life, namely his divorce from Gisele Bündchen in October 2022.
Brady eventually called it a career following his third season in Tampa Bay, retiring in February 2023 and 23 seasons total.
He's currently preparing for his sophomore season as Fox's lead NFL analyst.

As for Belichick, he, too, is embarking on a new era as head coach of the UNC Tar Heels.
The eight-time Super Bowl winner has found himself at the center of headlines in recent weeks following a disastrous appearance on 'CBS Sunday Morning,' when 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson punted a question about the origins of their relationship.
Belichick, 73, met the former college cheerleader on a flight in 2021 before making their relationship public three years later.

Travis and Jason Kelce Earn Major Congratulations For All-Time Announcement
Travis and Jason Kelce Earn Major Congratulations For All-Time Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. ... but he won't be a first-Kelce in Canton. Advertisement Kelce's older brother Jason retired a year ago at age 36 after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and has moved into a high-profile media role ... a spotlight that Travis, 35, knows something about as the boyfriend of pop star Taylor Swift. Someday - maybe after this season - Travis will retire. For now? "It really wasn't that hard of a decision for me," he said of continuing chasing a Chiefs championship in 2025. "I still felt like I had that fire in my chest to be able to keep coming in and building and be better and chase another Super Bowl." But whenever he's done? There is a five-year wait from retirement to Canton eligibility. Jason was a six-time First-Team All-Pro; he's a sure bet to get in ... and then Travis will follow him. Advertisement More evidence of their greatness? ESPN has assembled its NFL's All Quarter Century Team. ... and while it is quite subjective (it's essentially the work of two Bristol staffers) ... it's still powerful stuff for the Kelce family. Why? Because both the Chiefs star and the Eagles legend made the 53-man roster. ... earning them congratulations all around. On Travis, ESPN's Seth Walder wrote, "Kelce is simply the best pure receiving tight end in this quarter century.'' And on Jason: "Kelce's six first-team All-Pro selections are by far the most of any center -- no other player has had more than two since 2000. Kelce helped lead the Eagles to two Super Bowl appearances and revolutionized third- and fourth-and-1s leaguewide with his critical role in the (still permitted!) tush push play." Eagles Given Top Grade For All-Pro Tackle Duo
Eagles Given Top Grade For All-Pro Tackle Duo originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Eagles have the best offensive line in the league, and that isn't changing anytime soon. All five starters on the unit are signed through the 2027 season. Advertisement A big reason for Philadelphia's recent success in the trenches has been its two stalwart tackles, Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. Since both were named starters, Philadelphia's line has reached new heights as a collective unit. They have blocked for a 2,000-yard runner, an MVP finalist, and have won a Super Bowl. Pro Football Focus is just the latest publication to speak out in favor of Philadelphia's tackle tandem. In their weekly series ranking each position group, the analytics site ranked Mailata and Johnson as the best offensive tackle duo in the league. "Bookending the best offensive line in football, Mailata and Johnson are the best offensive tackle duo in the NFL and, arguably, the best players at their respective positions," Zoltán Buday said. "Mailata's 95.2 PFF overall grade led all offensive tackles in 2024, while Johnson's 88.9 figure ranked second among right tackles. Advertisement "Johnson's 88.7 PFF pass-blocking grade was the highest at the position. Johnson's 2.2 percent pressure rate allowed ranked second among all tackles and led all right tackles, while Mailata's 3.7 percent clip ranked eighth among all offensive tackles." Philadelphia has had a strong history of excellent tackle play. Mailata and Johnson are just the latest duo to excel. Johnson, the former fourth-overall pick out of Oklahoma, is a five-time All-Pro and considered maybe the best right tackle in modern history. Mailata, meanwhile, was a seventh-round draft steal who has grown from a rugby star to an NFL success story. Few teams in the league have two quality tackles on their roster. Even fewer can claim both of their tandem as Pro Bowl talents. The Eagles are the only team that can call both of its tackles the best at their respective positions. Advertisement It's why they remain a top team in the league. NFL legend calls LeBron James 'the greatest ever'
LeBron James treated sports fans to a special event in New York City on Saturday. At Fanatics Fest, which was held at the Javitz Center, he hosted live versions of "The Shop" and the "Mind the Game" podcast. For "The Shop," he was joined on stage by legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady. Brady retired following the 2022 season, and he is considered by most to be the greatest player, or at least the greatest QB, in the history of football. Brady appeared to glaze James a bit when he referred to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar as "the greatest ever." 'You're witnessing the greatest ever and I hope you all appreciate that,' Brady said. The debate about where exactly James belongs on the list of the greatest players in NBA history rages on, but his accomplishments speak for themselves. He became the league's all-time leading career scorer two years ago and is now at 42,184 regular-season points and 50,473 points in the regular season and playoffs combined. He has won four NBA championships (although he has lost six times in the NBA Finals), has won four league MVP awards and is one of a handful of players who have at least one scoring title and one assists title. James has a player option for next season. The 40-year-old is expected to play at least one more season in the league, and what he does beyond that is anyone's best guess at this point.
