Repo man fined for trespassing into vehicle owner's home

PETALING JAYA: A car repossession agent was fined RM2,800 by the Sungai Petani Magistrate's Court after pleading guilty to trespassing into a vehicle owner's home in Bandar Amanjaya last Saturday.
According to Sinar Harian, the sentence was imposed by Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani onto Muhammad Aiman Mudzakir Azmi, 24, following his guilty plea when the charge was read to him.
He admitted to trespassing into the vehicle owner's compound, which was locked, at around 7pm on June 14.
As a result, he was charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of three years, or a fine of up to RM5,000, or both upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Hazwani Md Noor prosecuted, while the accused was represented by a lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
The accused also appealed for the minimum possible fine, citing his guilty plea, which had saved the court's time.
He added that he is also supporting both his parents and a younger sibling who is still in school.

Meanwhile, Noor Azreyanti said the latest seizure was the sixth involving ray nets in the Kuala Kedah maritime zone so far this year. 'The use of the nets not only affects the population of stingrays, which are benthic predators, but also disrupts the overall balance of the ecosystem if left unchecked,' she said. Couple held for series of housebreaking, robbery cases since January

MELAKA: Police have arrested a couple suspected of involvement in seven housebreaking and robbery cases in Melaka and neighbouring states since January. Melaka Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the unemployed couple, aged 24 and 31, were arrested in Kuala Kurau, Perak, on June 4. "On May 28, police received two reports involving housebreaking and robbery in the Melaka Tengah district, linked to the couple. "Their modus operandi included targeting homestays and stealing various electrical appliances and furniture," he said in a statement today. Initial investigations found they were involved in three housebreaking and robbery cases in Melaka Tengah, and four others in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Various items were seized, including electrical appliances, furniture, a gold bracelet, two cars, five pawnshop receipts, and five mobile phones. The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and Section 392 for robbery. In a separate development, Christopher said a clothing dealer was arrested for allegedly firing a shot from an air pistol at Jalan Johor, Semabok, on June 8. "Following intelligence gathering and a public tip-off, the 35-year-old suspect was arrested in Puchong, Selangor, on June 17.
