Wispy bangs are back! Here's how to make them work for you
Whether curtain or full, wavy or wispy, bangs have been everywhere in 2025. Favoured by influential stars including Sabrina Carpenter, Keke Palmer, Elizabeth Olsen and Alexa Chung, fringes are back at the top of the hair agenda. Wispy bangs–defined by thin and floaty strands that gently frame the face—are a particularly stellar choice for the summer, and they're super easy to style, too. What are wispy bangs?
'Cutting in wispy bangs adds definition and angularity to the face, without having to commit to a blockier fringe,' explains Lucy Jones, a hairstylist at Larry King. 'When asking for wispy bangs to be cut, ensure that the desired section of hair is not too thick or too wide,' Jones advises. 'A small triangle is taken from the hair parting and aligned at the bridge of the eyebrows—this ensures that the width suits your natural face shape,' she adds.
'The centre section should be cut a little shorter than the rest of the fringe, enabling the hair to effortlessly fall around the face—the shorter point should be central, and the bridge of your nose is a good guide for this. The aim is to be left with longer pieces around the bridge of the brows and slightly shorter pieces in the centre of your face. I would then use a medium-size round brush, Larry King Volumizing Hair Mist and a hairdryer to style it.'
Jones's tip? 'I like to spritz the brush before drying the hair. Then, I roll the bangs over the brush and blow-dry it on a low heat and low speed, as this gives you more control.' If you prefer your bangs with a little bounce, lift the brush slightly, and if you want it to hang loosely and closer to the face, pull the brush down. To set it all in place, blast the hair with a cold shot and gently roll the brush away from the face. Jones also recommends using your hands to 'manipulate your bangs to achieve the desired finish'. According to Jones, oval or heart-shaped faces work really well for this look, as wispy bangs accentuate the cheekbones. 'My favourite wispy bang styles are paired with rock and roll waves, or even a cute topknot on days when you don't have time to blow out your hair.' It's an easy way to freshen up your look without having to commit to a more daring transformation. 'They also look divine on a natural, curly cut, and add even more structure around the face and eyes.'

Sabrina Carpenter will release the album Man's Best Friend on August 29. The prolific pop star is set to release the follow-up to Short n' Sweet almost exactly a year later. Sabrina shocked fans by standing on all fours in front of a man pulling her hair on the racy artwork, with the cover dividing opinion. However, one fan defending the Espresso hitmaker suggested she was poking fun at the fact people said: "she's for the male gaze". They wrote on X: "I've already seen enough so i gotta explain this cover cuz apparently y'all are acting dense: 'Man's Best Friend' is a phrase referring to a DOG. Sabrina is obviously portraying it on the cover referring to how all of you said she's for the "male gaze". This is how YOU see her. (sic)" The album will include the lead single, Manchild, which upon its release, Sabrina thanked "men for testing me". The 26-year-old singer explained that Manchild — which she co-wrote with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen — is "the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life". She penned on Instagram upon the song's release: "I wrote manchild on a random Tuesday with Amy and jack not too long after finishing short n' sweet and it ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life "Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.
