
Calgary crews investigating pair of S.E. garage fires

Damage is still being assessed after two unrelated garage fires in southeast Calgary on Tuesday morning.
The first, at about 5 a.m., was called in by a neighbour who saw a fire in the alley of the 1500 block of 46th Street S.E.
When firefighters arrived, they found a detached garage shed on fire and were able to knock it down.
Calgary fire says the building will likely be saved and that a vehicle inside only sustained slight damage.
Then, at 7:15 a.m., firefighters responded to the 0-100 block of Prestwick Place S.E., after multiple calls to 911.

Once there, they discovered a fully involved garage fire and people trying to extinguish it with a garden hose.
Along with the damage to the garage, siding melted on nearby structures.
No Injuries were reported due to either fire. There is no word yet on what caused the separate blazes.

Fatal North York stabbing leaves 1 dead, 1 injured: police

A man has died after two people were reportedly stabbed near Wilson Ave. and Beverly Hills Dr. just after noon on Sunday. It's unclear what led up to the stabbing or what relationship the suspect may have had with the victims, but police say the investigation is ongoing. 'There is going to be an increased police presence here,' Jocko said. 'There is no ongoing threat to the public and no outstanding suspects at this time.' Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
