Thunderbolts* star Florence Pugh criticises red carpet expectations for actresses - 'they don't model!'
Florence Pugh says it's unfair that actresses are expected to look like models on the red carpet.
The 'Thunderbolts*' star has questioned why there is pressure on actresses to "go beyond" their natural talent and be runway models at film premieres and awards shows.
In an interview with website Who What Wear, she said: "It's so s***.
'It's not the same thing. It's not the same thing at all. I had this conversation recently with a friend … It's just mental that red carpets are even an expectancy of someone that is not ... That's not even their job .… They don't model. They are good at being on a camera that is this close with that face, and they know how to show how raw their soul is on the flick of a switch. That's their talent. Their talent isn't anything beyond that.
"I mean, it might be, but that's what they're getting paid to do, and that's what we recognise them for.
"And you're supposed to be able to be like a runway model, and you're compared against runway models.'
Florence - who is a diminutive 5'4" - insists modelling is a big contrast to being an actor or actress because of how "exposing" it is as a profession.
She explained: "It's so exposing because it's you being beautiful, which is like everybody's inner hell."
The 29-year-old star recalled feeling "so self-conscious in the clothes" she was asked to pose in during magazine photoshoots to promote her films.
She admitted: "You don't know how it works. You feel so self-conscious in the clothes. You feel like you're not doing them justice. You're not doing what a model is going to be able to do."
Florence felt embarrassed when she first began to do photoshoots, but after time, she became more confident, which allowed her to "argue when a certain piece of clothing isn't working".
The 'Don't Worry Darling' actress said: "Once you do, you know, shoot after shoot after shoot, you get better, and you get more confidence," she says. "You see the pictures, and you see the work, and you're like, 'Okay, that looks great. I'm going to now make sure that I know how to argue when a certain piece of clothing isn't working ...
"If I'm disappointed about how something turned out or looked or if someone's saying something nasty about the dress that I was wearing or if I was a bit too heavy for the dress or a bit too this or that or whatever shit someone wanted to say to me, I have to be like, 'Babe, this is not even why you're… This is not your job.'"

Spaceballs: Lewis Pullman in talks to star alongside father Bill Pullman in sequel
Lewis Pullman is in negotiations to appear in the Spaceballs sequel. The Thunderbolts* actor, 32, is in talks to star in the upcoming follow-up to Mel Brooks' 1987 sci-fi parody movie alongside his 71-year-old father, Bill Pullman, The Hollywood Reporter has said. Bill Pullman will be returning as his Han Solo-esque character Lone Starr, while Rick Moranis is slated to reprise his role as Dark Helmet in what will be his first on-screen cinematic appearance in nearly 30 years. Daphne Zuniga - who played Princess Vespa in the original flick - is also expected to come back for the sequel. While Brooks is not due to direct the Spaceballs follow-up, the 98-year-old filmmaker will reprise his role as Yogurt in the movie, with Will and Harper director Josh Greenbaum set to helm the project for Amazon MGM Studios. Rounding out the cast of the Spaceballs sequel is Keke Palmer, who has reportedly boarded the project in an undisclosed role, according to Deadline. While plot details about the Spaceballs follow-up are being kept under wraps, it has been described as 'a non-prequel, non-reboot sequel part two, but with reboot elements, franchise expansion film'. The flick is being written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad, with the latter scribe also expected to star in and produce the film alongside Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, Brooks and Greenbaum. Meanwhile, Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez are to serve as executive producers. The Spaceballs sequel is slated to hit screens in 2027. Spaceballs - which parodied sci-fi franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek and Planet of the Apes - followed Lone Starr (Pullman) and his loyal sidekick who are hired to rescue Princess Vespa (Zuniga), only to uncover Dark Helmet's (Moranis) plan to steal an entire planet's air supply. In November, Gad teased he and the writing team had finished the first draft for the Spaceballs sequel. He told Forbes: 'Without MGM taking me into their Culver prison cells, I can tell you that the draft is done. 'Everybody who's read it has been blown away. The process of working on this with and alongside Mel Brooks has been one of the highlights of my career.' The Frozen star added the whole experience has been 'sort of a fever dream', and said Brooks 'has been so unbelievably supportive, involved, and electrified by this because it's the one that surprisingly got away'. He gushed: 'It's a dream to be able to finally make the reality prophesied by Yogurt in the first movie happen. I can't say more than that. 'I can't tell you anything beyond [the] process at this point, but I can tell you every hour of every day right now is spent making this project closer and closer to reality — and I think we're nearing the end zone here.'

David Harbour ditches his smart phone
David Harbour often ditches his smart phone for months at a time because it helps him focus on "the things that are important". The Stranger Things star has revealed he regularly gives himself a digital detox by swapping his device for an old-fashioned flip phone which isn't connected to the Internet because it takes his focus off replying to emails and online shoppping. He told Interview magazine: "I go through phases where I get rid of it entirely and go flip phone ... Having a flip phone is an amazing experience because you actually have to call people, and you don't deal with emails until you get home ... "I've gone four or five months at a time ... I think it's a product of the [smart] phone that you think you need those things [like emails]. "When you have the flip phone, you just forget about the thing you wanted to buy, and the things that are important rise to the surface." David - who split from his pop star wife Lily Allen last year - went on to reveal he's also taken a big step back from social media recently. He added: "Early on, I was so enamored by the spotlight. I'd be like: 'Come on in, let me show you my world.' "And then you start to get sour on the amount of work it takes, and you're like: 'Man, I got into this business so that I could reveal aspects of myself through characters whose stories are much more interesting than mine, so why don't I just focus on telling those stories?' "Now my Instagram is literally advertisements for my projects ... "It's just posters, and I guess studios care about the number of followers and things like that ... Actor Florence Pugh pours pints at London pub with singer Yungblud
Marvel star Florence Pugh has made a surprise appearance at a London pub where she poured pints alongside singer Yungblud. The 29-year-old appeared at The Devonshire in Piccadilly on Friday, where she was seen working behind the bar and chatting with customers, after starring in a music video for the singer's Zombie single. Pugh was cheered after pouring a perfect pint of Guinness before asking 'whose is this?', and later remarking 'I'm sorry' after pouring a less impressive drink.
