Danny Care to retire from rugby after 19 years with Harlequins: 'It's finally time'
Harlequins and former England scrum-half Danny Care has announced his retirement from professional rugby at the end of the season.
The 38-year-old announced on Tuesday that he was hanging up his boots after almost two decades with Quins, making 393 total appearances across all competitions - a club record in the professional era - and scoring 111 tries and 587 points after joining as a teenager from Leeds Tykes in 2006.
Care won two Premiership titles at The Stoop in 2012 and 2021 in addition to the 2011 European Challenge Cup and last year signed a new one-year contract to take his stay in south-west London into a 19th season after rejecting a lucrative move abroad.
That came after he had retired from international duty following the 2024 Six Nations, having amassed 101 caps for England since 2008 and won three Six Nations championships, including a Grand Slam under Eddie Jones in 2016.

'So, it's finally time. Unfortunately, after 19 years of playing for this incredible Club, I'm going to be retiring from rugby at the end of the season,' said Care, who will remain at Harlequins moving forward in an ambassadorial role.
'I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting a lad from Leeds come down to this Club and feel like home from day one.
'To all the fans. Thank you for everything you've given me and my family. As I said, you brought us into your hearts. You've sung my name louder than it's ever deserved. And I can't really put into words what representing this Club and playing in front of you all has meant to me.
'To Charles and to Duncan, the owners of the Club - two magnificent people, who've given me this opportunity to play here, and have stuck by me all these years – thank you both. I'd also like to thank all my amazing teammates, all the coaches, staff members who have been a part of my career.
'I will be supporting this Club forever, and I'll always be a Quin.'
Harlequins' director of rugby Billy Millard said of Care: 'It has been an honour to work with Danny these last 6 seasons. He will go down as one of the greatest to play for Harlequins, and his spirit and approach to the game has luckily been passed down to our group of players.
'I will never forget that look on his face after we won the Premiership in 2021, he drove the back end of that season brilliantly. His impact at this club has been immense and his presence and cheeky grin will be missed around the environment.'

England winger Feyi-Waboso suspended from 2-test series in Argentina
DUBLIN (AP) — England will debate the worth of taking Immanuel Feyi-Waboso on its Americas tour next month after the winger received a two-match suspension on Sunday. Feyi-Waboso was sent off during the England XV's 26-24 loss to a France XV on Saturday at Twickenham. He caught Antoine Hastoy in the head with a swinging right arm in an attempted first-half tackle. His yellow card was upgraded on review to a 20-minute red card. A World Rugby disciplinary hearing confirmed it was a dangerous tackle and suspended Feyi-Waboso for both of England's tests in Argentina on July 5 and 12. He will be available for the test against the United States on July 19 in Washington, D.C., if he completes World Rugby's tackle school. Saturday's game was Feyi-Waboso's first action since December, when he dislocated his shoulder. He missed the Six Nations and a possible place in the British and Irish Lions squad. Top seed Carlos Alcaraz has edged powerful Czech Jiri Lehecka 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 to claim his second Queen's Club Championship title and send out a powerful statement ahead of his Wimbledon defence. Spaniard Alcaraz, who triumphed at the same venerable London championship a few weeks before claiming his first Wimbledon title in 2023, extended his winning streak to 18 matches but was pushed hard by Lehecka who underlined his own credentials as a rising force. Alcaraz, 22, pounced at 5-5 to break the Lehecka serve and duly bagged the opening set in 45 minutes in Sunday's final. Lehecka, bidding to become the first Czech to win the Queen's title since Ivan Lendl in 1990, continued going toe-to-toe with the five-times grand slam champion and edged the second-set tie-break with some clinical tennis. Alcaraz had more in his locker though and forged 4-1 ahead in the decider as Lehecka's level finally began to drop on a breezy Andy Murray Arena. He then broke the 23-year-old Lehecka's serve again to complete victory, letting out a roar of a delight as Lehecka struck a backhand into the net. While Alcaraz will be seeded No.2 at Wimbledon behind Jannik Sinner as he bids for a hat-trick of titles there, he will arrive in red-hot form and as overwhelming favourite. He has won 27 of his 28 matches since April, his lone loss coming against Holger Rune in the Barcelona final, and Sunday's win was his fifth title this year. "This is really special this trophy and this tournament for me," Alcaraz said on court as he clutched the huge piece of silverware. "Jiri had an incredible week and his level is very high and it's a nightmare to play against you," he added, to his opponent. The second set followed a similar pattern but it was Lehecka who raised his game in the tiebreak to get a mini-break ahead. Alcaraz replied to win a sensational point at 3-4, sprinting to retrieve a drop shot and then back to chase down a lob. But Lehecka did not flinch and banged down an ace. Alcaraz double-faulted at 5-5 and then Lehecka levelled the final. Lehecka was unable to carry that momentum though and Alcaraz quickly re-established control and surged to victory. "The goal this week was just to compete and have a few matches on the grass and this final was a gift for me," Alcaraz said. "I just enjoyed the moment and the final, I felt like I was in control most of the time."
