MSU football joins rival Wolverines, others in offering 2028 in-state ATH prospect

Michigan State football has extended an offer to an in-state athlete that's trending on the recruiting trail. Mylan Griggs of Detroit announced on Sunday that he's received an offer from Michigan State. Griggs -- who is listed as an athlete -- announced the scholarship offer from the Spartans via a post on social media platform X. Griggs plays for Michigan high school powerhouse program Detroit Cass Tech, and is a member of the 2028 class. He is listed at 6-foot-0 and 160 pounds. Griggs is not yet ranked or rated on 247Sports or Rivals. But his interest on the recruiting trail would suggest he'll be a highly-rated prospect in due time. According to 247Sports, he now holds offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), USC, Wisconsin, Army, Kent State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Southern Miss, UMass, Temple and Toledo. Michigan State has picked up a lot of steam on the recruiting trail in recent weeks in their 2026 class efforts. Hopefully, that'll also translate to the 2027 and 2028 classes with prospects like Griggs. Florida Loses Out on Four-Star Recruit to Miami

Florida Loses Out on Four-Star Recruit to Miami originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Gators weren't able to secure another four-star recruit on Sunday. They were in the running for four-star edge rusher Asharri Charles before he committed to the Miami Hurricanes. Charles chose the Hurricanes over the Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Missouri Tigers, and Penn State Nittany Lions. Advertisement He told On3's Hayes Fawcett that he "loves" the Canes. Charles is the second-highest-ranked recruit in the Canes' 2026 class behind five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. According to 247Sports, the Canes have the eighth-best recruiting class for 2026. They have the 13th-best recruiting class for 2026 and recently got a commitment from four-star cornerback C.J. Bronaugh. He committed to the Gators on June 18 after he de-committed from the Nebraska Cornhuskers earlier in the week. On Saturday, the Gators also received a commitment for their 2027 class when four-star athlete Tramond Collins chose them over the Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers, and other schools. Advertisement They hope to keep landing more big-time recruits if they can win more on the field in 2025. Gators head coach Billy Napier had the best season of his three-year tenure in 2024, leading them to an 8-5 record. He has a 19-19 record going into year four. The Gators will open the 2025 season against the Long Island Sharks on August 30 before playing the Canes in Miami on September 20. The Canes beat the Gators in Gainesville during the 2024 season, 41-17. FIFA Club World Cup: Real Madrid register their first victory under Xabi Alonso as they beat Pachuca 3-1

Real Madrid won their first game in FIFA Club World Cup in their second fixture which was against Pachuca. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on June 23, 2025, 08:25 IST Real Madrid won their first game in FIFA Club World Cup in their second fixture which was against Pachuca. It was also the first victory under the new manager Xabi Alonso. A great display of performance from Madrid players as they were already down to 10 men when Raul Asencio was handed over a red card for his challenge in the 7th minute. Madrid had Bellingham, Arda Güler, and Valverde on the scoreline and the final scoreline read 3-1. Real Madrid secured their first victory in the FIFA Club World Cup with an impressive 3-1 triumph over Pachuca in their second fixture, marking a winning start under new manager Xabi Alonso. Despite going down when Raúl Asencio received a straight red card for a reckless challenge, the Spanish giants showcased resilience and quality to seal the win. Goals from Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, and Federico Valverde powered Madrid past the Mexican side, as the team produced a commanding performance even with a numerical disadvantage. Bellingham opened the scoring with a composed finish, while Güler dazzled with his footwork before doubling the lead. Valverde added the third late on to cap off a spirited display. Pachuca did manage to pull one back, but it proved to be a mere consolation as Real Madrid held firm to grab all three points and keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
