Selangor Allocates RM6 Mln For Aidiladha Qurban Livestock
SHAH ALAM, May 19 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government has allocated RM6 million to provide 700 cows and 1,000 goats for the qurban ritual at mosques and surau throughout the state in conjunction with Aidiladha next month.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the livestock would be distributed to eligible recipients, including senior state government officials, mosques, and local community groups.
'The Selangor Qurban Contribution Programme (PSKNS) is a state government initiative coordinated by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) for seven consecutive years, funded through the Trust Fund for Contributions from State-Owned Companies, Statutory Bodies and Agencies of the Selangor state government,' he said.
He added that PKPS, as the programme's implementing agency, manages all aspects of procurement, administration, and finance, under close monitoring by the PSKNS main committee chaired by state Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Datuk Izham Hashim.
He said this in a speech delivered by Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin at the PSKNS official launch and voucher handover ceremony at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, here today.
At the same time, Amirudin also reminded PSKNS organisers to ensure that the donated cattle and goats meet the religious requirements for the qurban ritual.
He said all donated animals must meet the criteria set by Islamic law, including being free from defects, in good health, and having reached the required age of maturity.
'We do not want last-minute issues where animals are returned to suppliers due to failing to meet the criteria.
'Therefore, I urge all parties, especially mosque and surau committees, to conduct early checks to ensure a smooth qurban process,' he said.

If it involves welfare matters, it must follow proper standard operating procedures (SOPs),' she said. On the proposal for trainee allowances, Dr Zaliha noted that while the government sector already provides such support, the call was to expand this to the private sector. 'Some private companies do provide allowances, but there's no clear policy. I intend to discuss this with Human Resources Minister Steven Sim for further consideration,' she added. She was speaking at a press conference after winding-up session of the three-day assembly, which began on June 21. A total of 15 resolutions were presented, covering areas such as the economy, social development, technology, and legislation. Asked whether the proposals would be brought to higher levels, including Cabinet discussions or the 2026 Budget planning, Dr Zaliha said all approved resolutions would be submitted to the Federal Territories Department (JWP) for follow-up. 'For matters beyond my portfolio under the Ministerial Functions Act 1969 (Amendment 2023), I will refer them to the Cabinet for consideration by the relevant ministers.

InvestPenang To Engage Intel On Future Direction In The State
BUSINESS GEORGE TOWN, June 23 (Bernama) -- InvestPenang, the state government's investment promotion agency, plans to engage with Intel to gain a clearer understanding of the current status and future direction of the tech giant's investment in the state. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the engagement is aimed at clarifying circulating reports that Intel plans to downsize its operations in Penang. He said Intel's US$7 billion investment in Malaysia, first announced in 2021, includes the development of its advanced 3D chip packaging facility in Penang, the first of such scale outside the United States (US). 'I was invited to visit the facility a few months back to see the progress, and now, after a few months, it has advanced even further and is nearing completion. 'It is in our interest to know about their plans with regard to the facility that they have put up,' he told a press conference on Penang's approved manufacturing investment for the first quarter of 2025, here today. The US$7 billion investment also includes plans to expand Intel's operations in Kulim, Kedah, bringing its total investments in Malaysia to US$14 billion by 2032. Meanwhile, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, said he recently held discussions with Intel regarding the company's plans for reinvestment and expansion of its operations in Malaysia. He said Intel has invested RM50 billion in Malaysia to date and created employment opportunities for 12,300 local workers. KDN To Probe, Mull Stern Action Relating To Erroneous Infographic On New IGP
GENERAL PUTRAJAYA, June 23 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry (KDN) will investigate a recent erroneous infographic on the 15th Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, published by a local Malay daily. Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the ministry will look into the matter from all angles, including potential legal action or direct engagement with the media involved. 'If necessary, we will summon them for clarification and take the opportunity to convey how false and irresponsible reporting can have serious implications. 'However, any action taken should not be construed as the government undermining media freedom,' he told reporters after attending the ministry's monthly assembly today. While expressing strong regret over the report, which claimed that the IGP was a member of the PKR Central Leadership Council, Saifuddin also described the mistake as serious, as it involved the reputation of the highest-ranking officer in the country's largest enforcement agency. 'The facts presented were obviously incorrect. The biodata profile included all of Datuk Seri Khalid's past experiences, with an apparent intention to insert misleading information, despite the police having already issued an official and verified profile,' he said. The minister stressed that an established media outlet should understand journalistic discipline, especially the obligation to verify facts, all the more crucial when reporting on a senior police officer with decades of service. 'Surely some effort should have been made to verify the facts. At a time when political divisions and hate sentiments are intensifying, such irresponsible reporting is like wildfire in a dry season,' he said.
