AWS, e&, and UAE Cybersecurity Council launch the ‘UAE Sovereign Launchpad,' accelerating cloud adoption for public sector and regulated industries
Dubai — May, 2025 — Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company (NASDAQ: AMZN), and e&, the UAE-based global technology group, have today launched the UAE Sovereign Launchpad, a cloud offering in UAE that is set to accelerate the adoption of cloud and AI services for the UAE public sector and regulated industries.
The UAE Sovereign Launchpad, which is powered by AWS, offered by e&, and endorsed by the UAE Cybersecurity Council, paves the way for a new era of public cloud adoption in the UAE that is estimated to add US$181 billion cumulative value to the nation's digital economy by 2033.
The UAE Sovereign Launchpad will run on the AWS Middle East (UAE) Region located within the borders of the UAE. e& will manage and implement customers' security and sovereignty controls aligned with UAE Cloud Security policies. In addition, e& will leverage AWS Outposts, a service that allows customers to extend and run AWS services on premises, to meet customers' specific data residency requirements.
UAE government agencies, along with customers in healthcare, financial services, education, space, oil & gas, and non-profit sectors, can now access the latest AWS cloud technologies, while addressing the data sovereignty requirements of the UAE Cyber Security Council.
UAE public sector and regulated customers can use the UAE Sovereign Launchpad through e& for all workloads except those classified as Secret and Top Secret, combining AWS cloud capabilities, alongside workload management solutions and managed security support provided by e&. This will cover the majority of workloads for organizations in the UAE.

The UAE Sovereign Launchpad is the latest development of a US$1 billion-plus strategic alliance between AWS and e& to fast-track cloud solutions in the Middle East, supporting AI deployment and digital transformation across the region.

UAE Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Bureau:
AWS, UAE Cybersecurity Council, and e& also plan to create the UAE Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Bureau (CTIB). The CTIB aims to advance 'Made in UAE' cybersecurity innovations, strengthening the UAE's global leading position at the forefront of cyber resilience and elevating the nation's digital capacity building in secure-by-design cloud-computing infrastructure.
'The UAE CTIB reflects the constant efforts made by the UAE in the field of cybersecurity and is a result of the directions and visions of the country's wise leadership,' added Dr. Al-Kuwaiti. Deezer Adds AI Song Tags to Tackle Streaming Fraud
Yara Sameh Deezer announced Friday that it will begin labeling albums that include AI-generated tracks in combat against streaming fraud. The music streaming service reports that about 18% of the music uploaded each day — more than 20,000 tracks — is now fully AI-generated. While most of these tracks don't go viral, Deezer says around 70% of its streams are fake and designed to earn royalties fraudulently. To combat this, AI-generated tracks on Deezer are now clearly tagged and won't appear in editorial playlists or algorithm-based recommendations. Fraudulent streams are also being filtered out of royalty payments. The company says the new labels will be a game changer in helping listeners determine the difference between human-created music and AI content. Deezer notes that for now, AI-only songs make up just 0.5% of all streams on its platform, but that the trend is growing fast. 'We've detected a significant uptick in delivery of AI-generated music only in the past few months and we see no sign of it slowing down. It's an industry-wide issue, and we are committed to leading the way in increasing transparency by helping music fans identify which albums include AI music,' Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a press release . 'AI is not inherently good or bad, but we believe a responsible and transparent approach is key to building trust with our users and the music industry,' he added. 'We are also clear in our commitment to safeguarding the rights of artists and songwriters at a time where copyright law is being put into question in favor of training AI models.' Deezer applied for two patents in December 2024 for its AI Detection technology, which it says is focused on two different ways of detecting 'unique signatures' that tell the difference between synthetic and authentic content. The move comes as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment are reportedly in talks to license their work to AI startups Udio and Suno, Bloomberg reported earlier this month. BIG Reimagines Dubai's Jebel Ali Racecourse as an Urban Oasis
BIG–Bjarke Ingels plans to transform Dubai's Jebel Ali Racecourse into a vibrant, walkable district centered on community life. Jun 21, 2025 In partnership with Dubai-based developer A.R.M. Holding, architecture firm BIG has unveiled a masterplan to redevelop the 5-square-kilometre Jebel Ali site into a pedestrian-oriented urban district. The design aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Vision and focuses on mobility, environmental performance, and livability. At the centre of the project is a large public park that runs through eight distinct neighbourhoods, creating a green corridor surrounded by shaded plazas and walkable streets. The plan integrates natural elements with infrastructure to support more accessible and climate-conscious urban living. The site's existing racetrack will be retained and incorporated into the development, acknowledging the location's heritage while introducing new public facilities, cultural institutions, and civic spaces. The layout is designed as a series of urban clusters surrounded by green space, offering visual and physical links to the central park. Transport within the district will rely on an automated system to minimise car use and promote alternative mobility options such as walking and cycling. The design incorporates passive cooling features, shaded areas, and desert-inspired landscaping to create more comfortable outdoor environments throughout the year. 'This project is an archipelago of urban islands in a sea of green—reimagining the site not as a collection of objects in isolation, but as a living landscape of interconnected communities,' BIG founder Bjarke Ingels says. Construction is set to begin in early 2026. The Jebel Ali project is intended to inform future urban developments in Dubai, particularly in areas of walkability, integration, and environmental adaptability.
