Lions Urged to Pursue Former Bills Edge Von Miller
Lions Urged to Pursue Former Bills Edge Von Miller originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Detroit Lions' roster took a big hit today.
All-Pro center Frank Ragnow announced he is retiring, which leaves them with another position where they need to find a way to replace a talented starter.

With that in mind, they may feel a bit more urgency to make a move at one of the other positions where they are still looking to replace a former All-Pro who started for the team in 2024.

The Draft Network's Justin Melo has an idea for just such a move that would give the Lions a replacement for Za'Darius Smith.
Melo recently named the Lions as a team who should sign former Buffalo Bills edge Von Miller.
It seems this idea may be gaining some popularity as CBS Sports' John Breech also recently named the Lions as a potential landing spot for the former Super Bowl MVP.
Miller is no longer the elite defender that anchored a Super Bowl-winning Broncos defense, but he was still a pretty solid piece for the Bills this past season.

He only played 279 snaps in 13 games, but was still able to produce six sacks and 32 total pressures in 2024 according to Pro Football Focus.
It was a big bounce back for Miller after he failed to record a sack in 12 games during the 2023 season.
He's not the best option out there as he is now 36 years old and has missed 15 games in the last three seasons. He also plays limited snaps even when available.
However, he could work as a pass rush specialist for them to give the team another option to get pressure on opposing QBs in obvious passing situations.
The Lions need to do something to improve in this area as they prepare to face the NFL's toughest schedule in 2025.

If the price is right, Miller could make sense as an option to give them that boost.

The best things in life are free, but we could all use some extra cash. Let us lead you to the land of green with our daily finance horoscope! Earning ability, oddly enough, is not reflected in your ability to earn right now. That's just another indication of the topsy-turvy world you find yourself in. But don't fret. You'll earn it all back when things are no longer in disarray. Does it surprise you that some people don't think of decadence as the ultimate indulgence? If excess doesn't motivate them, then what does? This is your question of the day. Your accounts and your bills are at odds again. Something has to either line up or give. Or is it you who has to cry uncle? Be prepared to do whatever the situation calls for. Don't pour on the charm just yet. It will only be off-putting. Start by putting out some feelers and finding out exactly who's receptive to your ideas, then go from there. What would you do if you were pulled over for speeding? Would you act arrogant and above the law? If you think that just might double your fines, then use the same logic to figure out the right response to the situation you're in today. Need guidance? Your Numerology Reading is a mystic cheat-sheet to living your full potential. There are debts you can live with, and then there are toxic debts. Something is slowly poisoning your future. You can find out which is which without much soul searching. When it comes to something like eating, you have the rules of etiquette down pat. But there are other arenas where you can come off as a bit of a bore. Be especially careful whom you talk to about money. If you've ever been on a diet, you know that extra calories can be hidden in the details. That's where you have to look if you want to cut the fat out of your current budget. Don't be taken in by the larger picture. Being conscientious is becoming less and less appealing. If you need some incentive, conjure up the image of children. Their future is not only now, it's in your hands. Slog on. Learning changes everything. You don't have to stay stuck in the rut you're in, but the way out isn't through the usual channels. Buccaneers' Mike Evans Credits Baker Mayfield For His Return
Buccaneers' Mike Evans Credits Baker Mayfield For His Return originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Baker Mayfield era in Tampa Bay has been a successful one so far for the Buccaneers. When Tom Brady retired after the 2022 season, most thought the Bucs would suffer a period of adjustment and would be cellar dwellers in the NFC and the NFC South. Advertisement But a funny thing happened on the way to the cellar. General manager Jason Licht signed Mayfield to fill the shoes of Brady, and he did. Mayfield signed on a one-year "prove-it" deal with Tampa Bay, and proceeded to post career numbers. Licht then inked the former Texas Tech Red Raider and Oklahoma Sooner to a three-year, $100 million contract. Mayfield posted another career season in Year 2 with the Bucs. And star wideout Mike Evans couldn't be happier about it. "Huge impact (on Evans' career). He's a big reason to why I came back," Evans said. "The energy that he's brought to Tampa after Tom (Brady) -- that's some huge shoes to fill, huge act to follow -- and I think he's done an unbelievable job, winning two division championships, making it to the postseason. Advertisement "But Tampa's in great hands with Baker. I'm sure he'll play much longer than I will. I'm looking forward to a great season this year and competing for a Super Bowl." Evans was to enter into free agency last offseason and was in high demand. But he eventually stayed with the Bucs and signed a two-year, $41 million deal. As he enters the final season of that deal in 2025, the relationship with Mayfield and the trending upward of the team could convince Evans to stay a couple of more years. Commanders RB Highlights When He Knew Jayden Daniels Was Star
Commanders RB Highlights When He Knew Jayden Daniels Was Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Washington Commanders knew early on they had a star on their hands in 2024 second-overall pick Jayden Daniels. Advertisement Washington reached the NFC Championship Game last season for the first time in 30 years, thanks mainly to Daniels' rise to stardom. For coaches, Daniels' arrival was quick and painless. For some of the team's veteran players, the quarterback's star power was shown at the the start of the regular season. Running back Austin Ekeler spoke on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast to detail just how special Daniels was in their Week 1 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "I remember hearing defensive players talking to him after the game, just kind of praising his speed," Ekeler said. "First game, not running to throw, but running to run. Kind of like college. Advertisement "We've seen him make some end-of-game plays—game-winner against Atlanta, basically the Eagles, the Bears. Shoot, the list goes in the playoffs, going down and winning that Bucs game." Daniels and the Commanders lost their Week 1 matchup against the Buccaneers but got payback during the wild card round of the playoffs. Along the way, Washington became one of the best offenses in the league. Ekeler and Daniels were key parts of the offense and will remain critical to future success. Ekeler's time in the NFL will end within the next few years, though. Daniels' run is just getting started. And that's what makes the quarterback, and the Commanders in general, so dangerous not only in the present, but also in the future.
