The Detroit Lions' roster took a big hit today.
All-Pro center Frank Ragnow announced he is retiring, which leaves them with another position where they need to find a way to replace a talented starter.

With that in mind, they may feel a bit more urgency to make a move at one of the other positions where they are still looking to replace a former All-Pro who started for the team in 2024.

The Draft Network's Justin Melo has an idea for just such a move that would give the Lions a replacement for Za'Darius Smith.
Melo recently named the Lions as a team who should sign former Buffalo Bills edge Von Miller.
It seems this idea may be gaining some popularity as CBS Sports' John Breech also recently named the Lions as a potential landing spot for the former Super Bowl MVP.
Miller is no longer the elite defender that anchored a Super Bowl-winning Broncos defense, but he was still a pretty solid piece for the Bills this past season.

He only played 279 snaps in 13 games, but was still able to produce six sacks and 32 total pressures in 2024 according to Pro Football Focus.
It was a big bounce back for Miller after he failed to record a sack in 12 games during the 2023 season.
He's not the best option out there as he is now 36 years old and has missed 15 games in the last three seasons. He also plays limited snaps even when available.
However, he could work as a pass rush specialist for them to give the team another option to get pressure on opposing QBs in obvious passing situations.
The Lions need to do something to improve in this area as they prepare to face the NFL's toughest schedule in 2025.

If the price is right, Miller could make sense as an option to give them that boost.
