Scars on Broadway, the outfit fronted by System of a Down guitarist-singer Daron Malakian, have announced a new album titled Addicted to the Violence, their first studio LP in seven years. Ahead of its July 18th release, the band has unleashed the single 'Killing Spree.'
Malakian composed, produced, and performed all the songs on the album, with contributions from Scars on Broadway bandmates Orbel Babayan (guitar) and Roman Lomtadze (drums).

Regarding the song 'Killing Spree,' Malakian said, 'It's a taboo topic people might be afraid to talk about. Kids have rebelled forever. Mental disorders have always been there too. In the last 15 years, we've seen a generation that will walk into school and kill other students. I'm not glamorizing or advocating it. I'm just saying, 'The kids are on a fucking killing spree.' It's what I see in front of me.'
He added, 'I'm not just talking about killings either. You'll see a lady who's getting beaten up on the subway and people around her aren't even helping; they're fucking recording on their iPhones. We had automatic weapons fifty years ago, and nobody was doing this. I blame the mindset. We now have a generation that is so detached and desensitized. They're totally unemotional and unempathetic. There's no respect for life.'
The July 18th release date for Addicted to the Violence happens to be Malakian's 50th birthday. The musician has been out on the road with System of a Down playing a series of South American shows. This summer, SOAD will perform two-night stands at stadiums in East Rutherford, New Jersey; Chicago, and Toronto, where they'll be joined by Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, and Deftones, respectively (pick up tickets here).
'I'm just as proud of Scars as I am of SOAD,' stated Malakian in a press release. 'This is another musical outlet for me. I think it's some of the best stuff I have to offer. I'm blessed that I can still do this and write songs every day.'

'Jurassic World: Rebirth' Early Reactions Are Very Telling
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The new entry in the "Jurassic World" franchise has brought in some heavy hitters. On top of A-list talent leading the cast like Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, the new franchise chapter, also boasts action director Gareth Edwards. More news: 'King of the Hill' Revival First Clip Confirms Another Original Character's Return The film takes a dramatic turn into showcasing an island where more experimental dinosaurs live. The initial trailers not only showcased these new dinosaurs, but the internet was set ablaze by a giant T Rex that looked like it had been mashed together with a Xenomorph from the "Aliens" franchise. Either way, the new film is set for a theatrical release on July 2, and the early reviews are starting to pour in. #JurassicWorldRebirth hits every note you'd want a Jurassic film to hit, with engaging characters, a great score, great cinematography direction and incredible VFX work by @ILMVFX . I was intrigued. But the movie just feels blah. It's a string of forgettable scenes that go nowhere. One river sequence stood out, but the rest blurs together. The characters are dull, there's zero chemistry, and I found myself rooting for the dinosaurs just to feel something. The story plays out like a studio checklist—nothing gets explored, and there's no heart in it. Some of the dino designs bring back that old monster-movie vibe, but the film barely uses them. It just ends, with no momentum, no setup, and no excitement for where this franchise is headed. It's not as awful as the last few, but still feels empty." #JurassicWorldRebirth throws so much at you as you enter the Dino-riddled seas & lands that the tension sits with you throughout. Although a few too many moments were predictable, and others either cute or cringe, it's a fun time loaded with nostalgia & jumps #JurassicWorld — Maude Garrett (@maudegarrett) June 19, 2025 Maude Garrett writes: "#JurassicWorldRebirth throws so much at you as you enter the Dino-riddled seas & lands that the tension sits with you throughout. Gareth Edwards knew just how to bring a Jurassic story to screen. I adore the practical movie magic of the original film. Over the years, the franchise has embraced more CGI. Rebirth is indeed loaded with effects-heavy set pieces, but those digital elements work especially well here because Edwards knew exactly how to ensure the film still had that reach-out-and-touch-it texture — particularly by choosing to film in real locations and shoot the movie on film." I've just watched Jurassic World Rebirth, and I have 2 things to say: 1) It's not good 2) Scarlett Johansson has never looked better — Seth (@sethsfilmreview) June 19, 2025 Seth has a far simpler review: "I've just watched Jurassic World Rebirth, and I have 2 things to say: 1) It's not good 2) Scarlett Johansson has never looked better." #JurassicWorldRebirth is a fantastic addition to the franchise, delivering everything you want and MORE! From the action to the cinematography, Gareth Edwards knows how to craft a great dinosaur movie. This one captures the spirit of the originals and pulls you right back in. — Draven (@DravenReacts) June 19, 2025 Draven Reacts says: "#JurassicWorldRebirth is a fantastic addition to the franchise, delivering everything you want and MORE! From the action to the cinematography, Gareth Edwards knows how to craft a great dinosaur movie. This one captures the spirit of the originals and pulls you right back in." One thing is certain from the early reviews, they all seem to be down the middle in terms of showcasing critics that absolutely loved the entry, or those who simply did not care for it. "Jurassic World: Rebirth" being made was not a shock at all, considering the last three entries made well over $3 billion at the box office collectively. However, time will tell if the franchise will continue. More entertainment: Smash Hit Series 'The Pitt' Gets Major Season 2 Update For more movie news, head to Newsweek.

'King of the Hill' Revival First Clip Confirms Another Character's Return
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The new "King of the Hill" revival is set for an Aug. 5 release date on Hulu. While fans have been treated to a new opening and posters showcasing a much older-looking cast, along with returning characters — the series has dropped its first clip. More news: New 'King of the Hill' Revival Poster Gives First Look at Two Returning Characters Now this is what I call a good time. All episodes of #KingOfTheHill's new season drop Aug 4th on Hulu. — kingofthehill (@kingofthehill) June 18, 2025 The clip opens with Hank admiring a baseball that was thrown out by George W. Bush, as he is touring the George W. Bush Museum with Nancy Gribble, Dale Gribble, and Peggy Hill. In typical Hank fashion, he is impressed not only by the baseball but also by a pen that was apparently used to end offshore drilling by former President Bush. Though Hank has a typical nature about him, there is a moment where Peggy showcases a far darker turn. She mentions to Nancy that she will take her own life if they have to remain at the museum, with Nancy quipping that she is not allowed to leave her at the museum alone. More news: 'King of the Hill' Revival Reveals New Opening and a Much Older Bobby Hill It appears that Peggy does not share Hank's affinity for the former president, or she is quite simply bored with being at the museum. Either way, this is a stark comparison for the characters. This is also the first time the "King of the Hill" revival has confirmed that Nancy Gribble will not only be in the series, but that she could still be married to Dale. One of the biggest running gags in the series is how Nancy was having an affair with John Redcorn. Though she eventually ends the affair during the series' original run, anything can happen. Ashley Gardner was the voice of Nancy through the run of the entire series, and it has not yet been confirmed if she has returned to voice the character once again. "The King of the Hill" revival is set to stream exclusively on Hulu and features a much older cast of characters. In the new opening, it is revealed that Hank, Peggy, and Bobby have returned to Arlen, Texas. Why the Hills have returned is still a mystery, but what is known is that Bobby is now a renowned chef. The opening also revealed that Dale Gribble has run for Mayor of Arlen, though there is no confirmation if he actually won and is acting mayor.
