Through our collaboration with AIngineer, we are combining deep domain expertise with cutting-edge AI capabilities to help energy and heavy industries unlock unprecedented levels of operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability. With the general availability of Microsoft's first cloud region in Malaysia, this partnership reflects our commitment to supporting the nation's aspirations to become a regional AI leader. Together, we are not just transforming industries—we are contributing to the growth of Malaysia's digital economy and its position as a technology hub in Asia.'
Meanwhile, PING CEO Zafirah Bahiyyah M Zulkifli commented, 'Teaming up with a global player like Microsoft is a strong endorsement of AIngineer's advanced technology capabilities and the innovation potential nurtured within Malaysia. As a venture incubated by the PING programme, this collaboration reflects our commitment to fostering impactful solutions that not only benefit the industry but also contribute to the nation's digital transformation. By creating a supportive ecosystem, we empower AIngineer and similar ventures to push boundaries and drive meaningful change that aligns with Malaysia's aspirations for growth and sustainability.'
Beyond just the technical aspects, this collaboration will also focus on exploring strategies to commercialise AIngineer through Microsoft's extensive global network and established platforms, including Azure Marketplace and AppSource. By tapping into these channels, we aim to significantly expand AIngineer's industrial reach and adoption, enabling more industries to benefit from its cutting-edge AI capabilities. This strategic approach not only supports AIngineer's growth but also aligns with the broader vision of fostering innovation and digital transformation within Malaysia's energy and industrial sectors.

Japan rice price falls below US$27 per 5kg for the first time since March

TOKYO (Bernama-Kyodo): The average price of rice in Japan fell below 4,000 yen (US$27) per five kilograms (kg) for the first time in around three and a half months to 3,920 yen, the government said on Monday, with increased distribution of stockpiles likely helping to drive down prices. According to Kyodo News Agency, during the seven days through June 15, the average price of rice sold at supermarkets across the nation fell by 256 yen per five kg from the previous week, dropping to the 3,000 yen range for the first time since the week ended March 2, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Farm Minister Shinjiro Koizumi told reporters that the drop was due in part to the release of additional rice reserves, stating that "a clear message from the government is proving effective." The market share of blended rice, including reserve rice, rose six percentage points to 50 per cent. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has vowed to bring the average retail price of five kg of rice down to the 3,000 yen range by the end of June. Last year, a household consumed 60.20 kg of rice, according to government consumer spending data. Even after the latest fall, the average price of rice remains nearly double that of a year earlier. Japan's core consumer prices in May rose 3.7 per cent from a year earlier, marking the biggest increase in more than two years, with rice prices setting a fresh record for the eighth consecutive month with a 101.7 per cent jump due to a supply shortage. On Monday, meanwhile, measures were put into place prohibiting the reselling of rice bought at retail stores to ensure that consumers have access to rice at stable prices. Under the ban, those who sell rice at a higher price than they paid face up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 1 million yen (US$6,767), or both. -- BERNAMA-KYODO

Premier urges China's Jiangsu to embrace ‘higher development expectations'

As Beijing looks to shore up China's economic growth amid mounting challenges, Premier Li Qiang has called on Jiangsu province, a key manufacturing hub on the country's east coast, to step up its efforts in technology, trade and consumption. During a three-day visit to the province from Monday, Li emphasised the importance of embracing innovative development, stimulating effective demand, fostering entrepreneurship, and deepening reform and opening up to support China's sustained economic growth. 'Jiangsu has a solid economic foundation and strong capabilities, but it also faces higher development expectations,' Li said, calling on the province's officials and residents to stay focused on economic growth and shoulder greater responsibility in meeting the challenges facing the broader economy, Xinhua reported on Wednesday. In the first quarter of this year, Jiangsu's gross domestic product rose 5.9 per cent year on year to 3.31 trillion yuan (US$460.5 billion), closely trailing top-ranked Guangdong's 3.35 trillion yuan, which was up 4.1 per cent. One of China's most advanced manufacturing provinces, Jiangsu has been tasked by Beijing with playing a leading role in stabilising growth amid sluggish domestic demand and growing external pressure from increased US tariffs. At a factory that makes machinery, Li highlighted the need to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and clean energy technologies to upgrade traditional industries and keep pace with global manufacturing trends. At a home appliance manufacturer involved in a government-backed consumer goods trade-in scheme, Li encouraged the development of more high-quality, customised products to unlock consumer potential. 'China has a vast and growing market, and we welcome businesses from around the world to invest and operate here,' Li said, pledging more policy support and services to ensure a favourable environment for foreign companies. While inspecting the Jiangsu-Central Asia Centre, a regional service platform for the Belt and Road Initiative trade development strategy, the premier called for better use of China-Europe freight trains and cross-border e-commerce to deepen trade ties with Central Asia. Wrapping up his trip at the construction site for the 11.5 billion yuan Nanjing North Station project – which will be the provincial capital's largest railway station when it is completed – Li urged more use of advanced materials and technologies and better industrial planning to maximise its long-term impact. His remarks echoed comments made by President Xi Jinping in March during a meeting with deputies from Jiangsu at the annual meeting of China's top legislature. Xi urged the province to take on a leading role in innovation, regional cooperation and the pursuit of common prosperity. - SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST

World's youngest self-made woman billionaire Lucy Guo says craving work-life balance means you're in wrong job

In an interview with Fortune magazine, the 28-year-old said she does not see her job as work in the traditional sense. "I love doing my job," she said. "I would say that if you feel the need for work-life balance, maybe you're not in the right work." Her daily routine starts at 5:30 a.m. with two to three high-intensity workouts at a training bootcamp, followed by work from 9 a.m. until midnight. "Some days, I am doing more marketing pushes. I'm talking to our PR, I'm doing podcasts, etc," she told Fortune. "Other days I am more product-focused... Reviewing designs, giving user experience feedback." She eats lunch at her desk and never cooks, relying entirely on food delivery service UberEats, she said. Despite working up to 90 hours a week, Guo said she still finds one to two hours each day for family and friends. "You should always find time for that, regardless of how busy you are." While younger generations increasingly prioritize work-life balance, Guo's schedule reflects a growing norm among startup founders. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan shares a similar view. "Work is life, life is work," he said on a recent podcast episode. Despite his demanding schedule, he stressed that family still comes first: "Whenever there's a conflict, guess what? Family first. That's it." Saudi Princess Noura bint Faisal Al Saud, CEO of consulting firm Culture House, echoed the mindset. "I'm always working 24/7 I'm a workaholic, so I don't stop working because I enjoy what I do." Guo, who dropped out of Carnegie Mellon University, later cofounded Scale AI with Alexandr Wang, now the world's youngest self-made billionaire with a net worth estimated at $3.6 billion, according to Forbes. After leaving the company in 2018, she retained a 5% stake, which is now worth an estimated $1.2 billion following Scale's valuation surge to US$25 billion in 2025, reported by Entrepreneur magazine.
