Lad promises comprehensive development of Alnavar taluk
Affirming his commitment towards the overall development of the newly formed Alnavar taluk, Labour Minister Santosh Lad has said that continuous efforts are being made to make Alnavar a model taluk by initiating various development works.
Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for the Praja Soudha administrative building in Alnavar on Tuesday, he said that the State government had sanctioned ₹8.6 crore for the project.
Mr. Lad pointed out that although the building was being constructed on the outskirts of the town, it would soon become central as Alnavar town will expand. He clarified that the Praja Soudha was being constructed on available government land in a location convenient for the public.
The Minister said that under the Bhoo Suraksha project, 3,90,054 pages of land records in the taluk had been digitised and the digital records were being provided to the public from June 1. A permanent drinking water supply project at an estimated cost of ₹71.9 core had been initiated for 3,780 houses in Alnavar town, he said.
Mr. Lad said that the existing six-bed primary health centre in Alnavar would be upgraded to a 30-bed community health centre. As much as ₹6 crore had been released for the restoration and rejuvenation of the canal and tail channel of Indiramma lake in Hulikeri village. About 80% of the work was completed and would benefit irrigation over 1,240 hectares of farmland in the taluk, he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday (June 22, 2025) laid the foundation stones for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus and a Central Forensic Science Lab in Chhattisgarh's Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Mr. Shah, who is on a two-day visit of the State during which he will tour a security camp and chair meetings on ongoing anti-Maoist operations, was accompanied by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Raman Singh and Ministers. The State Government has allotted 40 acres of land for the NFSU campus, which will be built by the Centre at a cost of ₹400 crore, informed Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, who also holds the Home portfolio in the Sai Cabinet. The Central Forensic Science Lab will come up on 6-7 acres of land near the NFSU campus, he added. Later in the day, Mr. Shah will chair a meeting of Director Generals of Police (DGPs) and Additional DGPs of Chhattisgarh and six neighbouring States on anti-Maoist operations, after which he will take part in a meeting on the security situation and ongoing operations against Left Wing Extremism, Mr. Sharma said. Mr. Shah will also meet the family members of Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girpunje who lost his life after a pressure IED planted by Maoists exploded on June 9, the Deputy CM informed. On Monday (June 23), Mr. Shah will visit a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Narayanpur district, where he will interact with security personnel and Maoism-affected villagers. He will also take a ground review of the development works going on there, Mr. Sharma added. Anti-Maoist operations have intensified in Chhattisgarh since the BJP came to power after the 2023 Assembly polls. Since January last year, more than 400 Maoist ultras have been gunned down by security forces in separate encounters. The most notable was the killing of Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju (70), the general secretary and top most operative of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), in Bastar on May 21. Mr. Shah has repeatedly declared that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre and State Government are committed to eradicating Maoism by March 31, 2026.

Karnataka minister HK Patil pulls up own government over illegal mining cases
Karnataka Law Minister HK Patil has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging him to punish those guilty of illegal mining in the state, alleging that the government has not been honest and committed to ensuring proper punishment for those guilty of "looting the state's wealth".In order to bring the culprits behind illegal mining to justice, Patil also suggested steps that the Siddaramaiah government should take, according to a seven-page letter to the Chief Minister, Patil claimed that only 7.6 per cent of all illegal mining cases have been investigated and that the government has not done enough to punish the culprits and recover the lost wealth. "Between 2007 and 2011, massive treachery took place in Karnataka in the form of illegal mining. Politicians and bureaucrats systematically looted the state's wealth. The government lost Rs 1.5 lakh crore. But in spite of such a large-scale loot, the government has not demonstrated honesty and commitment in ensuring commensurate punishment for the loot and recovery of the state's wealth," Patil said in the said that there is public outrage over illegal mining in the state and the administration's inability to address most of such cases."There is outrage among people about this. A special investigation team (SIT), which is looking into a few cases, has not made progress. These cases are getting buried in government files and administrative delays," he also suggested steps that can be taken to effectively address illegal mining and their investigation:Through the Criminal Law Amendment Ordinance of 1946, a Recovery Commissioner should be immediately appointed within the jurisdiction of the State Government to seize the property of criminals accused of recovery efforts. This Commissioner must be provided with the necessary support and strength. Steps must be taken with firm determination to make recovery to the number of illegal mining cases that have completed investigation and are now in the trial phase in court, there are at least ten times more cases that have not yet undergone investigation. Investigations into such cases are essential. Gujarat unveils electronics component manufacturing policy, offers Rs 12.5-crore aid for centres of excellence and research
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday announced an electronics component manufacturing policy aimed at transforming the state into a global hub for electronics manufacturing by focusing on bridging the talent gap, promoting innovation, and offering support for research and development initiatives. A media release from the chief minister's office said that recognised institutions based in Gujarat would be eligible for assistance of up to Rs 12.5 crore from the state government to establish centres of excellence, finishing schools, or applied research laboratories, adding that the policy would boost investment in key segments such as multi-layer and HDI printed circuit boards, lithium-ion cells, SMD (surface mount device) passive components, display and camera modules, electronic parts, and the additional machinery required for their production. Under the policy, projects approved and supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will be eligible for 100 per cent central assistance when established in Gujarat. 'Hence, MeitY-approved projects set up in the state will receive dual incentive benefits, one from the Central Government and another from the State Government,' the release read. Applications to avail of benefits under the policy, to be implemented by the Gujarat State Electronics Mission, must be submitted by July 31. The release added that the Gujarat Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025 (GECMS-2025) is thoroughly aligned with the central government's electronics component manufacturing scheme, with which the state scheme will also share its duration. Projects under development or proposed in Gujarat will also be eligible for incentives under this policy. The policy will apply to units other than those receiving assistance under Gujarat Electronics Policy 2022-28. Units availing of benefits under the latest policy will not be eligible under the Gujarat Electronics Policy 2022-28. 'Gujarat's GECMS-2025 ensures a 100 per cent top-up on central support and guarantees timely disbursement of assistance. Also, once a project receives approval under the ECMS from MeitY, it will automatically become eligible for the same grant-in-aid in Gujarat. The State Government will disburse its incentive within 30 days of the Central Government releasing its assistance,' the release read. 'Gujarat has established itself as a leading manufacturing and automobile hub in India's industrial landscape. With four semiconductor plants now operational in the state, the newly announced policy will further strengthen the upstream industries. This development will reduce import dependency and improve technological resilience. The policy aims to attract over ₹35,000 crore in new investments and create substantial high-skilled employment opportunities within the state's electronics component manufacturing sector,' the release stated. Additionally, turnover-linked incentives will be provided for six years.
