Delhi Assembly to go paperless in July
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju laid the foundation stone of the e-Vidhan (Paperless Assembly)' project on Saturday, which utilises technology to enhance legislative efficiency, transparency, and ease of processing.
With this project, the Assembly is expected to become paperless by July.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Rijiju said: 'The e-Vidhan initiative is not merely about going paperless, but about enhancing transparency, public participation, efficiency, and digital security in the legislative processes.'
Speaker Vijender Gupta said the project, being implemented under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), is expected to digitise legislative operations, reduce paper usage, and provide lawmakers with real-time digital access to legislative business.
₹9-crore grant
'The Delhi Assembly has received grants of over ₹9 crore from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, out of which more than ₹ 1 crore has been released as the first instalment,' Mr. Gupta said.
He added that efforts are under way to transform the Assembly's traditional library into a modern e-library and to complete the renovation of the House before the Monsoon Session.
Heritage site
The Speaker had earlier announced plans to develop the Delhi Assembly premises into a heritage and cultural site that will house a legislative museum, interactive exhibitions, and guided tours with support from institutions like Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and the National Archives of India (NAI)
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that transitioning to a paperless system would not only modernise the legislative process but also set a benchmark for digital governance in the Capital.
NeVA is a workflow system deployed on NIC Cloud, MeghRaj, which helps the chair of the House to conduct the proceedings smoothly. It will completely eliminate the process of sending out a notice/request for collection of data. The application hosts a secure page for each member of the House for submitting questions and other notices.

Did Steve Bannon know about Operation Midnight Hammer? His 'party is on' dropped the first clue
Steve Bannon dropped the first clue of a possible US attack on Iran when he said this was going to be a big weekend. Donald Trump's former advisor Steve Bannon dropped the first clue of something big happening this weekend in his podcast Saturday when he said 'the party is on'. 'I'm just reporting what I'm hearing from pretty good sources. The party is on," Steve Bannon said when Trump officially bought two weeks time to decide on joining Israel in its attack on Iran. 'So another big weekend in this unfolding aspect of the Third World War, and no, anyone that's telling you that the Third World War is not here absolutely does not understand the development and evolution of kinetic energy," Steve Bannon who earlier urged the president to not get involved in the Israel-Iran war said. Bannon visited the White House earlier this week, just hours before the president announced the two-week deadline for himself to make a decision on his next steps in Iran. It was, however, after Trump apparently approved the attack plan, going by the report of the Wall Street Journal. Reports said Bannon arrived at the White House armed with specific talking points, including that Israeli intelligence was unreliable, that the bunker-buster bomb might not work as planned, and the risk an attack posed to American troops stationed in the Middle East. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Get Matched with a Licensed Therapist Today Affordable Online Counseling | Search Ads Learn More Undo Pentagon Sunday announced that Operation Midnight Hammer was very classified and only a few people had the knowledge about it. Top Republicans were briefed about the operation According to multiple GOP sources, the top two Republicans in Congress who were briefed about the US strikes on three Iran nuclear plans ahead of time were House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune. But Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries received notifications shortly before the public announcement. 'Leaders in Congress were aware of the urgency of this situation and the Commander-in-Chief evaluated that the imminent danger outweighed the time it would take for Congress to act,' Mike Johnson wrote on X, defending Trump's decision. 'The President fully respects the Article I power of Congress, and tonight's necessary, limited, and targeted strike follows the history and tradition of similar military actions under presidents of both parties. NEW DELHI: With the Pahalgam terror suspects still absconding, intelligence agencies have issued a fresh alert warning of a possible attack during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. According to sources, actionable inputs have been shared with ground troops and local police units to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the annual pilgrimage. In their report to the government, intelligence agencies have named The Resistance Front (TRF) a proxy outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) as the group responsible for the recent Pahalgam attack and indicated that it may be planning another strike during the Yatra. Senior officials in charge of the Amarnath Yatra security grid confirmed that forces have been 'strategically deployed along the route to ensure rapid response capabilities across all key points.'
