"Batting needs to take more responsibility": NECO Master Blaster' skipper Jitesh Sharma after loss in Vidarbha Pro T20 League

Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], June 7 (ANI): Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and India wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, who is captaining NECO Master Blaster, in the ongoing Vidarbha Pro T20 League, feels that the batting unit needs to step up their game following the loss in the first match.
Bharat Rangers clinched a tense 23-run win over NECO Master Blaster in the Vidarbha Pro T20 League match on Friday. Leading the side, Jitesh Sharma too was not able to make a mark, but the batter is confident of doing well in the coming games.
'This is a learning phase for us in the Vidarbha League. It is our first year, and naturally, there will be mistakes--but what is important is that we learn and improve. The IPL is a different league altogether and cannot be compared directly, but we can definitely raise our standards and skill levels here,' said Jitesh after the match, as per a press release from NECO Master Blaster.
'Yes, there were mistakes today, especially with the bat, but we want to focus on the positives. We bowled really well, but the batting unit needs to take more responsibility. As a player and captain, I just want to see the youngsters enjoying the game and growing through the experience,' he added.
NECO Master Blaster will lock horns with Nagpur Titans on Saturday before meeting Nagpur Heroz on Sunday. 'Our plan for the next match is simple--focus on playing better cricket and aim for a win,' said Jitesh Sharma.
Chasing a modest 132, NECO Master Blaster faltered to 108/10. Tight spells from N Bhute (3/32) and M Dosi (2/23) dismantled the middle-order. NECO NECO Master Blaster innings never gained momentum after early wickets, with only Gaurav Dhoble (16) and Akash Kombe (10) showing some resistance. Skipper Jitesh scored just nine runs.

He offers himself more time on the field while preparing himself mentally to extend his stay on the crease for as long as possible. 'I try to give myself more time to play my shots. I try to be mentally ready and aim to bat as long as possible. I try to create a good platform for the team. If I am set, I try to take it deep and play till the end. I keep telling myself to keep playing. Whatever happens, I will manage and always keep this mindset,' he said. Jaiswal was undone by England captain Ben Stokes' golden touch. Jaiswal went to drive the ball, but the ball seamed off the pitch to beat the outside edge and rattle the timber. Captain Shubman Gill and his deputy Rishabh Pant forged an unbeaten 138-run partnership to see off the day, ensuring India remained unscathed, at a venue where India hasn't tasted victory since 2002. Kronstadt caught the eye of the world with his rollicking 60(65) in the Boxing Day Test but failed to conjure another impactful performance in Sydney. He was included in Australia's tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year but couldn't make the cut for the final XI. At just 19, Konstas is looking to find the calm in the chaos of international cricket, keeping control of his breath and trusting his game. Ishwar Pandey believes Jasprit Bumrah can play all five Tests in England

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer and Rewa Jaguars head coach Ishwar Pandey believes that right-arm seamer Jasprit Bumrah will play all five Test matches of the series against England in the ongoing tour. During the announcement of India's squad for the upcoming Test tour of England, chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed Bumrah was advised not to contest in consecutive Tests as part of his workload management. The precaution around Bumrah's usage stems from a stress reaction in the back during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January. Speaking to ANI about Bumrah, Ishwar Pandey said, "He has said that. But how his body reacts in the game. There are 5 test matches. There will be more workload. But I think he will play all the test matches. He has said that. But I think he will play all the test matches." Earlier on June 17, Bumrah said that before Rohit and Virat retired, he discussed his workload with the BCCI, considering his physical condition and the demands of a five-Test series. He consulted with his support team and surgeon, leading to a decision to manage his workload more strategically. "Before Rohit and Virat retired, during the IPL, I had spoken to the BCCI. I had discussed my workloads going forward in a five-Test match series. I've spoken to the people who have managed my back, I've spoken to the surgeon as well, who's always spoken to me about how smart you have to be about the workloads. So I did speak to him and then we concluded that I have to be a little smarter," the fast bowler said while speaking on Sky Sports Cricket. "But yeah, captaincy meant a lot. I had worked very hard for it. But unfortunately, sometimes you have to look after the bigger picture. I love cricket more than captaincy. So I want to contribute more as a cricketer and to the Indian team as a player. Ambitions are there, but that's how it is, but I called the BCCI and said I don't want to be looked at in a leadership role," the 31-year-old player added. Bumrah is currently participating in the ongoing Leeds Test at Headingley, which will take place from June 20 to 24.
