Drake reveals losing $8 Million in sports gambling, weeks after betting $750K on Royal Challengers Bengaluru: ‘So fried right now'
Drake, apart from music, is known for his high-stakes sports gambling. From the NBA to cricket, the Canadian rapper's presence at major global events, often tied to his infamous 'Drake curse' is hard to miss, especially with huge amounts at stake. However, while he may make it look easy, the rapper recently opened up about the downside of such gambles and revealed that he lost a massive $8 million in a month. He didn't mention which games exactly wiped him out, but last month, the NBA and NHL playoff season were in full swing. Drake even recently put a risky bet on Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL 2025 finale, where the team surprisingly ended up winning after 18 years. Also read: 'Ee sala cup namde': Drake bets Rs 6 crore on RCB ahead of IPL final against PBKS On June 18, the rapper took to Instagram Stories and shared a screenshot of his latest financial losses, saying, 'Gotta share the other side of gambling… Losses are so fried right now.' Over the past month alone, the rapper has reportedly placed nearly $125 million in bets. One of those bets was a massive $50 million wager placed last week, where he ended up losing $5 million. He continued, 'I hope I can post a big win for you all soon, cause I'm the only one that has never seen a max these guys max once a week.' Drake had earlier placed a $750,000 bet on a cricket match, backing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the Punjab Kings. A few months back, he put $1.25 million on the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL playoffs. They lost badly. He lost even worse. Drake lost $124m in a month to gambling. If he continues like this, sooner or later he'll be in debt. That's 2billion naira gone. — Ser Chukwuka (@official_papson) June 19, 2025 Fans are even joking that his curse turned on him instead, and the Toronto-based rapper didn't shy away from accepting that fact as well. He even joked in a recent promo video for Stake, his betting partner, with whom he is currently locked in a one-year endorsement deal, that he's a flawed sports bettor. In the video, he said, 'I will not deny that. That's not my gift. I'll let everybody roll with it. I'm sure if you're a Drake curse believer, there will be plenty more content in the future to confirm your theories because my slips do not cash out. But one day I'm gonna have a parlay that's insane.' Also read: Drake warns fans his 'next chapter' may leave them 'feeling uneasy' in cryptic post alluding to Kendrick Lamar beef Last month, the Hotline Bling crooner, to everyone's surprise, actually blamed Justin Bieber for one of his failed bets. Drake had placed $1 million on the Maple Leafs again, and Bieber showed up during the game. The team lost. Drake wrote 'Bieber curse' in a story, blaming him for the loss. But despite this, Drake admits he is not the 'gambling king'. He openly admits that Michael Jordan beats everyone, calling him the 'real-life gambling GOAT (greatest of all time)', saying that he has an ability to 'gamble on anything.' Drake said MJ once wouldn't stop betting him during a ping-pong match—'$10,000, $20,000, again and again.' Meanwhile, some netizens weren't exactly kind to Drake's recent admission of loss. Many called him out for throwing away millions while people are struggling to survive. One user called him a 'Certified Loser Boy,' and others labelled him a gambling addict.

Karnataka: Siddaramaiah government mulls bill on crowd control post Bengaluru stampede; 'Rohith Vemula Bill' also on the cards
File photo NEW DELHI: Karnataka government is planning to roll out a bill on crowd control and management, according to state law and Parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil. This comes in the wake of tragic stampede on June 4 that killed 11 people in Bengaluru. Other bills that are set to be tabled include Rohith Vemula Bill, 2025; Karnataka misinformation, fake news prohibition Bill, 2025; Karnataka hate speech and hate crimes prevention Bill, 2025, the minister informed. "Four bills were proposed today -- Karnataka crowd control, managing crowd at events and venue of mass gathering Bill, 2025; Karnataka Rohith Vemula Bill, 2025; Karnataka misinformation, fake news prohibition Bill, 2025; Karnataka hate speech and hate crimes prevention Bill, 2025," Patil told reporters on Thursday. He added that "these Bills were proposed at the meeting today. I mentioned that on some Bills there is a need for a detailed discussion. It has been decided that before the next cabinet meeting, concerned ministers will meet and discuss and bring the Bills before the cabinet." The stampede took place on the evening of June 4 outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, where massive crowds had gathered to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team's IPL victory celebrations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025: Steel Suppliers From Mexico At Lowest Prices (Take A Look) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo The incident resulted in 11 deaths and left 56 others injured. Top Congress leadership, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, had called upon the state leadership to take accountability post stampede, reportedly saying that "human lives are of great value" to the party and that the administration must be responsive, unlike the BJP in Uttar Pradesh or the Left government in Kerala. Additionally, the proposed draft of the Rohith Vemula Bill reportedly includes provisions for compensation of up to Rs 1 lakh for students subjected to caste-based discrimination in higher education institutions. It also recommends a one-year jail sentence and a fine of Rs 10,000 for those found guilty. In April, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urged Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah to introduce the "Rohith Vemula Act" to prevent caste-based discrimination within the education system. Rohith Vemula, a Dalit student from Hyderabad, died by suicide in 2016 after facing caste-based discrimination.

Former England captain Sir Alastair Cook reveals why he thinks Ollie Pope deserves No 3 spot against India in upcoming Test series
Sir Alastair Cook believes Ollie Pope deserves to keep his place at No 3 for the start of England's big Test series of the summer. Speaking at the launch of The Overlap and Betfair's Stick to Cricket show, Cook said that rival Jacob Bethell sacrificed his chance to occupy that position against India at Headingley on Friday when he opted to play in the Indian Premier League rather than face Zimbabwe last month. Warwickshire's Bethell, 21, made an impressive start to his Test career with three half-centuries against New Zealand before Christmas when Pope slipped down the order and took the wicketkeeping gloves. But Bethell's decision, made in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board, to gain a season's experience with IPL champions Royal Challengers Bangalore allowed Pope to return to his more familiar role at first wicket down and he responded with 171 against the Zimbabweans. 'When I left New Zealand I thought they'd go with Jacob Bethell but if he isn't leaving the IPL to come and play a Test match, for whatever reason that is, that's the way the cards have fallen,' Cook said. 'Whether it's Bethell's fault or not, if he was that desperate to play I would have said he would have come out and played, then he'd have guaranteed his England selection.' Pope is vice-captain to Ben Stokes in Test cricket, but with competition for places developing there were no guarantees heading into a year that includes 10 matches - five versus India at home followed by an away Ashes - of his retention. 'Will Pope play at number three in Perth? He's in possession at the minute and we'll find out if he's good enough against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah,' Cook added, in conversation with Mail Sport's David Lloyd, 2005 Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan and another former England international Phil Tufnell. 'The issue I've always said about Pope, and I don't think this changes, is his first 20 balls. Tuffers is more likely to get through his first 20 balls.' Meanwhile, a change of personnel at the top of India's order is guaranteed for the series opener in Leeds following the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the opening stages of 2025. 'One thing we know of India is that they're going to be so talented,' Cook continued. 'They could pick 18 batsmen of almost the same quality and it'd be really interesting to see whether that talent - without those two there - now flies. 'They think: 'I can actually express myself, we can bat how we want to bat.' Obviously, if you go into a batters' meeting and Kohli is like: 'This is what we should do.' They all might have to nod. Now they might go: 'Actually, we're younger, we want to take on England a bit more, we want to be more aggressive, this is what suits us.'' Betfair are set for a big summer and winter of cricket, launching a new show with The Overlap: Stick to Cricket. Don't miss the first episode next week, where the team will be reviewing the opening Test of the series between England and India.

AB de Villiers gives surprising statement 15 years after leaving Delhi Daredevils, says 'there were lots of poisonous characters'
AB de Villiers. New Delhi: The Delhi Capitals are one of only two original IPL teams yet to win the tournament, despite possessing strong talent in its early years. A common point of discussion among fans is the potential impact of retaining AB de Villiers, who played for Delhi for three seasons before achieving significant success with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite initial success and playoff appearances, South African cricketer AB de Villiers disclosed that a negative team environment ultimately led to the Daredevils' subsequent decline. 'I'd hate to give you names — burning people, you know — but the Delhi Daredevils were in shambles. There were a lot of poisonous characters in that team,' said de Villiers in an interview with During his early international career, De Villiers reminisced about his time alongside cricketing legends. 'There were lots of legends, which makes it a bittersweet memory for me. I still remember those times fondly. Some of the highlights of my life and career came during that stint-especially spending time with guys like Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vettori. These were my heroes growing up, and I was honestly a bit scared of them.' 'I'm sitting here in 2008 and (McGrath) sits next to me and goes, 'I like the way you play.' So from those highs to also realising there's some cancerous characters inside, no need to mention names. It was a very bittersweet three years for me,' explained to Protea legend. While the Daredevils boasted a roster including notable players like Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Dinesh Karthik, and a young David Warner, in addition to established stars, they consistently failed to win elimination matches. AB de Villiers' career downturn began with internal team issues at Delhi Daredevils. Despite a strong 2009 season (465 runs), his performance in 2010 was inconsistent, leading to his release before the 2011 auction. He subsequently joined Royal Challengers Bangalore, marking a significant turning point in his career. '2009 was nice. I played almost the entire season in South Africa, came back, and I thought I was going to be the man. Then, all of a sudden, I wasn't playing again. It was mixed feelings. I was told I would be retained, and then the next minute, I saw myself in the auction. I didn't even know what had happened. So many weird things went on.' AB de Villiers' time with the Delhi Daredevils (later the Capitals) was initially challenging, but his individual performance was exceptional. He became a highly successful IPL batsman, accumulating 5162 runs and delivering memorable performances for Royal Challengers Bangalore. 'The day I walked into RCB, I felt like they wanted me to play every game. I was so surprised. They just went, 'You're the man. You're going to grow here. You're going to become a great player with us-you're part of the family.' Done and dusted,' said de Villiers.
