Volunteers should work for social transformation through Panch Parivartan: Mohan Bhagwat
Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), June 18 (UNI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat today said that India has been a Hindu nation since ancient times and this has been decided by the Hindu society here.Giving this information, RSS Varg Karyavah Dr. Pratap Singh said Bhagwat had come on a four-day tour to theRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's Karyakarta Vikas Varg Pratham, and addressed students on the last day of the tour today.
Bhagwat told the students that in the centenary year of the Sangh, every volunteer should go to the society with the topics of Panch Parivartan - social harmony, family enlightenment, environment, civic duty and indigenous lifestyle.
This will bring positive change to society. Indianness should be reflected in the mother language, attire, bhajans, food, travel, etc. Modernisation is not bad but blind imitation of the West is not right.

Politics over cattle and beef have taken a centre-stage in Assam after a string of incidents in which suspected cattle remains have been recovered near places of worship, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying Friday that the government would tighten the enforcement of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021, while Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi has alleged BJP involvement in these incidents ahead of next year's elections. In the past two weeks, at least 72 people have been arrested in Dhubri, Goalpara and Lakhimpur after three separate incidents of suspected cattle remains being recovered from near temples in the first two places, and near a namghar (community prayer hall) in Lakhimpur. Sarma Friday referred to these as an attempt to create unrest 'since Eid ul Zuha.' Speaking at a press conference, he said that all these incidents have taken place in 'sensitive areas.' 'When we look at all these incidents and wherever they have taken place, they are near localities where there have been arrangements of eating beef during Eid ul Zuha. Our cattle preservation bill says that if Hindu people stay in an area, or if there are temples or namghars, this kind of meat cannot be consumed within 5 kilometres radius near these. That is a legal provision,' he said. The Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021, that he was referring to has a section which prohibits the sale of beef and beef products in areas 'which are predominantly inhabited by Hindu, Jain, Sikh and other non-beef eating communities or within a radius of 5 km of any temple, satra, or other religious institutions belonging to Hindu religion or any other institution or area as may be prescribed by the competent authority.' Sarma said that the state government would prepare an SOP to stop qurbani (sacrifice) of cattle within a 5-km radius of such premises saying the enforcement of this 'can be a permanent solution.' 'Dhubri has one of the leading gurudwaras in the country. And there are many temples near that… But this time around Eid, the district administration had not enforced this provision the way it should have been done… So, we have directed district administrations that this significant section in our cattle preservation bill has to be enforced very strictly… This can be a permanent solution. If the 5 km provision is implemented, no one can eat and no one can slaughter within Dhubri town,' he said. Last week, he had also alleged that beef is being 'weaponised' against Hindus in the state to force them away from places. Hitting out against these developments, MP and Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi has accused Sarma of 'Jinnah-like politics' and alleged a BJP role in these incidents. 'There should be investigation into all these people who have been held so far on who gave them this idea, who gave them the advice. Those who have done it have done an offence, but who gave them the idea?… Elections are close, failures have to be hidden, and this is their whole strategy,' said Gogoi on Friday. 'There are some criminal minded people within them. Within the BJP, RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal, there are some criminal minded people who seek to do these kinds of things before elections. Our aim is not to let a communal environment be created inside Assam… We will not let him do his 'Jinnah-like' politics,' he added.

Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) Cooperation is the soul of India's way of life, said Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah in Mumbai on Friday. He was speaking at the 'Sahakar Se Samriddhi' National Symposium organized at Hotel Fairmont today. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil, Agriculture Minister Adv. Manikrao Kokate and several others were present. Shah said that UN has declared 2025 as the 'International Year of Cooperatives'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a historic step by establishing a separate Ministry of Cooperatives in the country. Now the aim is to establish two lakh new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in the country, he said. He further said that information about cooperative societies in every village across the country has been collected through a digital database, and Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka have made remarkable achievements in the cooperative sector. PACS societies will now not be limited to agriculture alone but will operate in 22 new service sectors. These include Jan Aushadhi Kendras, gas distribution, petrol pumps, railway ticketing services, taxi services. In the 'National Taxi' initiative, the taxi drivers will be the owners of the vehicle and their profits will be deposited directly in their bank accounts, he said. This initiatives will create new employment opportunities for women and youth, and will boost the rural economy. The country is moving towards a new era of cooperation said Shah. Speaking on occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Maharashtra has successfully implemented various schemes in rural areas through PACS and FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations). These schemes have given a boost to employment generation and have provided a market chain to farmers. Maharashtra has fulfilled the objectives of the central government more efficiently, Fadnavis said. Statehood: Omar says waiting for PM, HM to fulfil promise
Jammu, June 20 (UNI) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said he was waiting for the fulfilment of the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. 'Will see whether we have to go legally or not for statehood but till then, we are waiting for the Prime Minister and the Home Minister as they have assured that statehood will be restored to Jammu and Kashmir,' Abdullah told media at an event. To strengthen public outreach and grievance redress, Abdullah on Friday inaugurated a new Raabta office here at Canal Road after one is functioning in Srinagar (Kashmir valley). On the issue of reservation in the recruitment, Abdullah however, lashed out at the former J&K Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti stating, 'how much she (Mehbooba Mufti) is speaking on this? Where was she when she had the opportunity to raise this issue?' 'When she was contesting elections from Anantnag constituency and seeking votes from Rajouri-Poonch, why did she prefer silence on this matter? Why did the People's Conference leader, Sajjad Lone, who was close to the BJP, not speak on the reservation issue then?' said Abdullah. He, however, maintained that the Cabinet Sub-Committee framed by his government has submitted its report on reservation issue to the Law Department for remarks before taking a final call thereafter. Did they give us water when we needed it, then why should I send water to Punjab?,' said Abdullah while reacting to the 113 km-long canal proposed for redirecting additional water from three western rivers of the Indus system in Jammu and Kashmir to Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Meanwhile, on opening of Raabta office in Jammu, Abdullah said, 'We want to reach out to people and after the successful response in Kashmir, we wanted to have a similar office in Jammu as well so that the grievances can be taken via both online and offline modes and can be addressed without any delay.'
