PICTURES: Kip Marina hosts first major event of Scotland's new sailing season
SAILORS from all over Scotland headed to the Clyde for the first major event of the new sailing season - the annual Kip Regatta.
A total of 32 small boats sailed into Kip Marina to compete in a weekend of racing in the Haven Knox-Johnston Kip Regatta.
Across the six different classes, boast were up against others of an equal speed and size, with each class racing for historic trophies presented by the Royal Western Yacht Club.

(Image: Contributed) Prizes were up for grabs from race sponsors Helly Hansen, Gill, Tunnocks, Dubarry and Kingfisher along with the prestigious RWYC silverware.
The overall winners of each class were Sapphire (CYCA 2), Close Encounters (CYCA 4), Bounce Back (Etchells), Salamander XXII (IRC 1), Headhunter (IRC 3), and Inclusion (two-handed).
The champion's crown for the overall winner of the regatta went to the crew of Sapphire, from Helensburgh, who were the best performing yacht of the weekend after winning all four of their races.

(Image: Contributed) The Royal Western Yacht Club, which promotes small boat sailing on the Clyde, has been involved in running the regatta since the 1980s and said this year's weather was perfect for sailing.
A spokesperson said: "The racing was held off the waters of Inverkip which on the Saturday offered the perfect racing conditions.
"The steady breeze, glorious sunshine and clear waters enabled three tight races to be held.

"The Sunday was a different day, with a shifty light northerly breeze offering different tactical options for the yachts, and one race was completed on the Sunday morning.
"We were once again pleased to work alongside Kip Marina to deliver a successful regatta which was enjoyed by the local and visiting yachts."
Kip Marina thanked all the competing boats, crews, and race committees for another fantastic event and said they were already lookijng forward to seeing everyone again next year.

MONACO, June 18, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pierre Casiraghi has claimed victory at the helm of 'Jolt 6' in the British IRC National Championship, overcoming fierce competition in the challenging waters of the Solent. The regatta, held in Cowes as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Thames Yacht Club, marks a key milestone in the Yacht Club de Monaco's preparation for the 24th Admiral's Cup (17 July – 1 August 2025). Competing in the IRC 1 category, 'Jolt 6' outpaced a strong line-up. 'Winning this event in Cowes in typical Solent conditions, with an unstable 10-18 knot westerly, was a real challenge. The 2025 edition is set to feature 14 teams from 13 nations, including the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, and the New York Yacht Club, a three-time winner of the Admiral's Cup. Flying the flag of Monaco, Team Jolt will field two complementary boats: the TP52 'Jolt 3', helmed by Peter Harrison, and the Carkeek 42 'Jolt 6', skippered by Casiraghi. Both crews have been engaged for months in a structured programme of training and international racing. Casiraghi credited the crew's performance as decisive: 'I'd like to highlight the exceptional work put in by our cosmopolitan crew of ten sailors, including Ben Saxton on tactics, Will Harris on navigation and Joey Newton and Cole Brauer on trimming. 'We'll definitely bounce back'
Ilkay Gundogan is "very confident" Manchester City can "bounce back" in 2025-26 after finishing this season in stronger form. Pep Guardiola's side racked up nine Premier League defeats, equalling their record for most league defeats in a season during the Spaniard's reign. But when it mattered most, City started to look stronger and finished the season in third with 21 wins from their 38 matches. "It feels like the season was so long, with a lot of up and down things," said Gundogan. "Not just with the team, but everyone individually as well. "Obviously everyone went through the struggles. I feel like now at the end of the season the feeling is positive in the way we've performed in the past two months since the last international break. "Since we returned, we won most of the games and got a lot of points. If we were able to perform in that way throughout the whole season it would be a completely different outcome for us in the end. "That's the target for next year, to learn from all the mistakes in the campaign, to take that last couple of months as the standard and expectation going into the Club World Cup and the next Premier League season. "I'm very confident that if we're able to do that, we'll definitely bounce back and be in competition for the Premier League title. "These are the standards that this team, this club has set over the past few years, the past decade. Unfortunately nothing less than that is enough in a very competitive Premier League."
