Amazon Diagnostics service offers over 800 diagnostic tests, ranging from routine health checkups to specialized lab tests such as Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Platelet Count. Customers can schedule doorstep sample collection, available daily from 6 AM to 9 PM, with Orange Health Labs promising sample pickup within 60 minutes of booking in select areas. Test results are delivered digitally via the Amazon app.
Amazon Pharmacy, part of Amazon Medical, provides access to a wide range of prescription medications and healthcare essentials, said to be complemented by free telemedicine consultations and delivery benefits for both Prime and non-Prime members. Amazon Clinic, meanwhile, enables virtual consultations with licensed doctors for primary healthcare needs, such as common ailments and chronic condition management.
How to access Amazon Diagnostics services
Amazon Diagnostics is accessible exclusively through the Amazon India app, where users can browse tests, book slots, and track their appointments in real time.
Amazon takes on Lal Path, Apollo and other Diagnostics services
The launch comes amid a surge in demand for at-home healthcare services in India, driven by increasing health awareness and the convenience of digital solutions. Amazon Diagnostics enters a competitive market, rivaling established players like 1mg, Netmeds, and Apollo 24|7, which also offer similar diagnostic and pharmacy services. However, Amazon's vast logistics network and integration with its app ecosystem could give it a significant edge in scaling the service nationwide.
Industry analysts suggest Amazon's entry into diagnostics could disrupt the market by leveraging its Prime membership base and delivery infrastructure. 'Amazon's ability to combine diagnostics, pharmacy, and telehealth under one platform positions it as a formidable player in India's healthcare space,' said Priya Sharma, a healthcare technology analyst based in Delhi.

Amazon India launches home diagnostics services in six cities
Completing the trinity of healthcare service offerings, Amazon India on Sunday (June 22, 2025) stated that it is foraying into the diagnostics space with the launch of a new at-home diagnostics service that enables customers to book lab tests, schedule and track appointments, and access digital reports from the Amazon app. Three years back, Amazon entered into the space of delivering online medicines through Amazon Pharmacy. Six months ago, it launched country-wide virtual doctor consultation services through Amazon Clinic for over a hundred-odd health conditions. 'Diagnostics closes the outpatient loop by connecting testing with doctor consultation and medicine delivery, all of which can be accessed through the Amazon app,' Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Category Leader, told The Hindu. Amazon Diagnostics has partnered with Orange Health Labs, a company launched in 2020-21, to launch the testing services in six cities — Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai and Hyderabad — across over 450 pin codes, operational from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. The company claims that while its diagnostic services are being introduced in a limited set of PIN codes to begin with, its online medicine delivery services are its fastest-growing service and are functional in a majority of PIN codes across the country. Customers can book from over 800 diagnostic tests, get doorstep sample collection in under 60 minutes and digital reports in as less as 6 hours, for routine tests. Mr. Balasubramanian said, 'With Amazon Pharmacy, customers get an access to a wide range of prescription medications and healthcare essentials, along with a free telemedicine consultation service and delivery benefits for Prime and non-Prime members.' He further added, 'Amazon Clinic enables customers to consult licensed doctors for a range of primary healthcare needs through a seamless digital experience.' 'The addition of Diagnostics brings lab testing into the same continuum of care. With all three services now integrated, a connected outpatient journey, from consultation to testing is offered in the single interface on Amazon Medical in a full stack health model,' Mr. Balasubramanian said. Even with established health care players like Tata-1MG and Pharmeasy in online pharmacy market and Practo in online doctor consultation space, Amazon Medical has stated that the opportunity space is very high. Mr. Balasubramanian told The Hindu, 'The market is largely fragmented. There are several established players however it not about speed but about how your ecosystem is built.' Amazon Medical refused to comment on the nature of investment that has been infused into building the full stack health services including Pharmacy, Clinic and Diagnostic verticals. Mr. Balasubramanian stated, 'For Pharmacy, we get lot of orders even from Tier two and three towns. We work with multiple accredited sellers having over twenty-five warehouses and licensed pharmacies. When the order is received, the seller ships it, and Amazon delivers it to customer.' He explained that order fulfilment is handled by licensed sellers with strong compliance and delivery coverage across the country. 'Same-day delivery available in 23 cities and standard delivery in others areas. Prescription and chronic medications, wellness products, medical devices all available. Auto-refill and subscription options for long-term conditions with discounts up to 25% on select categories, with additional savings for Prime members are available,' Mr. Balasubramanian added. As far as Amazon Clinic goes, consultations since launch have ranged into 'thousands' and start at ₹299 with licensed doctors across various specialisations such as general physicians, dermatologists, gynaecologists, paediatricians, and so on. 'Average end-to-end consultation time ranges for about 13 minutes with a free 7-day follow-up support for every consultation,' Mr. Balasubramanian said. Amazon Medical is in for a long haul in the healthcare services business in India, the company has said. 'Growth in healthcare services is measured in multi-decadal manner. It's not a limited scope run way,' Mr. Balasubramanian said.

With AI on the rise, developer rates decline
Bengaluru: The 2025 Accelerance Global Software Outsourcing Trends and Rates Guide showed a global decline in software developer hourly rates, with decreases ranging from 9% to 16% across many regions. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Latin America is the notable exception, where rates have remained steady. The report highlighted harder client negotiations, off-rate card deals, and cost takeout deals increasingly being offered by outsourcing partners to get projects over the line. Developer hourly rates declined across several key regions, with Eastern Europe seeing a 9% drop, and both South Asia and Southeast Asia experiencing steeper reductions of 16%. The 2025 edition of the report reviews data from 2024, comparing it to 2023 figures. It analyses median pricing across all software development roles, based on the latest survey results. This downward trend highlights a softening demand environment, driven by restrained enterprise IT budgets and increased discounting by software development firms competing for limited business in a crowded market. Peter Bendor-Samuel, founder and chairman of the Everest Group, said, "Over the last month, we are seeing much more aggressive pricing shifts than these as firms seek to capture the benefits of AI and are using AI aggressively with their internal teams, reducing the need for external support. The reason that Latin American rates are holding up is that in the new AI-driven apps world, time zone proximity is increasingly important, and we are seeing that translate into higher productivity, which in turn allows for higher or at least sustained rates. " Ray Wang, chief executive of Constellation Research, said AI has driven down the cost of software development. "In fact, we just saw a new firm, Soul of the Machine, headed by the legendary Sunil Karkera, beat out a major who bid a project with over 100 people and a 12-month timeline. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He won a bid with less than 10 people in half the time. This is AI native scale." About 50% of Accelerance's respondents anticipate raising their rates by 1% to 5% within the next six months. This signals a departure from the double-digit growth in developer rates that defined the pandemic years. While inflation and ongoing shortages in high-demand tech roles will continue to drive price increases for some specialised skills, outsourcing providers are also offering more discounts and off-rate card deals. The integration of AI is reshaping various aspects of the software development lifecycle. Last year, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced a demonstration of the tangible value of the Amazon Q Developer agent for code transformation. With its help, Amazon successfully migrated tens of thousands of production applications from Java 8 or 11 to Java 17. This effort saved more than 4,500 years of manual development work across over a thousand developers and delivered performance gains amounting to $260 million in annual cost savings—underscoring the powerful impact of AI-assisted modernisation at scale. AI will play a much larger role in software development, with estimates suggesting that up to 70% to 90% of development tasks could be AI-driven by 2025 to 2027. Phil Fersht, CEO of HfS Research, said, "Our research shows 83% of US enterprises are increasing their investments in automation and AI because of the current tariffs and geopolitical instability." He said, "The market didn't twitch last Monday after Israel's attack on Iran, but I wonder what they will do on Monday, especially now the Strait of Hormuz is closed. . Trump's 90-day window on tariffs is also about to close with no real deals anywhere, and traditional 'big deals' business is very slow now in our industry."
