After being acquired in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason, Kirk is certainly looking forward to working with C.J. Stroud.
Speaking with SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday, Kirk revealed that excitement and what has impressed him thus far about the Texans' third-year starter.
'The thing that sticks out about C.J. is he's super mild-mannered, but he has a lot of confidence, he's smart, he sees things well,' Kirk said.
'He's a really good communicator and I think with that position, quarterback, and him being a younger guy, that's a big part of him getting to where he is now and still excelling, the communication piece with not only the receivers but new offensive coordinator, offensive line, whatever the case may be it's just open communication and us being all on the same page to help him excel.'

After an impressive rookie campaign, Stroud's numbers dipped slightly during his sophomore year. He threw for 3,727 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season. His 49.8 QBR - down from 58.3 the previous year - was 24th among NFL quarterbacks.

Despite the drop in production, Stroud led the Texans to another AFC South title and divisional round berth last season. Kirk, however, believes they can go even further this season.
'He's going to take this team as far as we want to go, with him being at his best,' Kirk said. 'He's been great within the few months of spending time around him, communicating with him in the locker room, outside the facility, he's got a bright future and I'm really excited to get to work with him.'

Kirk is one of several new wide receivers Stroud will have at his disposal this fall.
The Texans added veterans Braxton Berrios and Justin Watson this offseason, and scooped up Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel in the draft. They also return Nico Collins, who has recorded two-straight 1,000-yard seasons.

Top NHL draft prospect Schaefer honors late-mother in not letting personal tragedies define him

When the time comes for defenseman Matthew Schaefer to take the stage at the NHL draft inside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles this week, the top-ranked prospect won't be climbing the stairs alone. There's no doubt in Schaefer's mind his late mother Jennifer will be accompanying him in spirit. It will stand as a joyous moment for the 17-year-old Erie Otters player celebrating the person who's been at his side for every step even after she died of cancer some 16 months ago.

Duke's Khaman Maluach, Maryland's Derik Queen headline list of big men in upcoming NBA draft

Duke's Khaman Maluach anchored the interior for an elite defensive team that reached the Final Four. Maryland's Derik Queen was the offensive focal point for a team that reached the NCAA Tournament's second weekend. Those freshmen are the headliners among big men in the upcoming NBA draft. While there's a deep well of high-end guard prospects, the bigs have a smaller list and could produce Maluach and Queen as the lone lottery picks.

4 Broncos players, 1 coach make ESPN's All Quarter Century team

ESPN recently compiled a list of players to headline their NFL All Quarter Century team. The list, which detailed the best NFL players since 2000, featured the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and Priest Holmes (yes, he's ranked over Adrian Peterson and Ladainian Tomlinson, in which the former is on their practice squad.) Nevertheless, the good news is four Denver Broncos players and a former coach made the Quarter Century Team. Of course, Peyton Manning, Champ Bailey and DeMarcus Ware would come to mind. But Brian Dawkins, who spent a majority of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, also spent three seasons with the Broncos for the latter part of his career and still notched two Pro Bowls (2009, 2011) and an All-Pro nod (2009). Lastly, Wade Phillips, the architect of the 'No Fly Zone' defense of the 2015 Super Bowl champions, was named as the defensive coordinator for the team. Phillips had stints as a head coach, but his time as a DC with the Broncos will have him immortalized, just like with this list. Check out the complete list here.
