With more than 11 flops in a 17-year career, he became one of Bollywood's most unsuccessful leading men. Yet, this hasn't dented his financial standing.
Many Bollywood actors begin as child artists, but few manage to sustain their stardom. Neil Nitin Mukesh, born into a family of musical legends, is one such name. Despite a star-studded debut and backing from a powerful film lineage, he struggled to make a mark as a leading man. Still, his earnings and lifestyle today remain enviable.
Neil was born to veteran playback singer Nitin Mukesh and is the grandson of the iconic singer Mukesh. His first brush with the big screen came in 1988 as a child actor in Vijay, where he shared scenes with Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Hema Malini – a dream debut few can boast of.
Years later, in 2007, Neil made his official Bollywood debut as a lead in Johnny Gaddaar. Though critically appreciated, the thriller failed commercially, collecting only Rs 5.68 crore. It marked the beginning of a series of box office disappointments.
Over the next decade, Neil starred in films like Aa Dekhen Zara, Jail, Lafangey Parindey, 7 Khoon Maaf, and David. However, none helped cement his position as a bankable actor. Even roles in multi-starrers and big productions failed to boost his standing. His 2023 comeback attempt with Hisaab Barabar, opposite R. Madhavan, too went unnoticed.
With more than 11 flops in a 17-year career, Neil became one of Bollywood's most unsuccessful leading men. Yet, this hasn't dented his financial standing. Stepping back from the mainstream industry, he redirected his efforts into business and production.
Today, Neil Nitin Mukesh enjoys a net worth estimated at Rs 40 crore. He owns several high-end cars, premium watches, and luxurious properties. His production company and endorsements continue to generate impressive income, proving that he has successfully reinvented himself away from the spotlight.
Neil married Rukmini Sahay in 2017, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Nurvi, in 2018. While he stays largely out of the public eye, Neil often shares glimpses of his personal life on social media, giving fans a peek into his family's glamorous yet grounded world.

Watch: This Grilled Corn Ice Cream From South Korea's Jeju Island Has The Internet Drooling

Corn and ice cream — both are flavourful and delicious when consumed separately. But what if they are served as one? Need not be surprised, as in the world of bizarre culinary combos, nothing is impossible. Recently, a digital creator, @coffeegomi, treated foodies to a similar preparation: Grilled corn ice cream. Found at the ice cream parlour Jeomjeom in Jeju Island, South Korea, this one-of-a-kind dessert is sweet, nutty and creamy, all in one. It is priced at 7,500 won (approximately Rs 470). This Jeju Island speciality is prepared by torch-roasting one half of a corn cob. Next, it is topped with rich and luscious swirly vanilla ice cream. And voila! Your grilled corn ice cream is ready. Dig into the creamy ice cream with a spoon at first and take a scrumptious bite of the kernels after. As per the creator, this unique dessert is perfect for those who love Chodang corn, a type of Korean sweet corn known for its exceptional sweetness and crunchy texture. 'You get the sweet aroma, the nutty corn flavour, and the luxurious richness of the cream—all combined in one treat,' shared the creator in the caption. 'I love Chodang corn, and it definitely looks delicious,' gushed one user. 'Can't believe it is a corn and a cream combo,' exclaimed another. 'This is the first place that comes to mind when you make corn ice cream,' shared an individual. 'The visual of the super sweet corn is insane,' wrote one person, presumably drooling at the thought of relishing this deliciously sweet and savoury dessert. 'This is crazy,' read a remark. Here's what this user had to say: 'Next time I go to Jeju, I will carry this around (with me),' 'Ice cream on top of corn? What a unique combination!! I really want to try it,' confessed a sweet tooth.

Silver anniversary of a marriage made for TV

These days, much of my family time is spent watching my ageing father watch KBC episodes on a loop on YouTube. I jokingly call it a 'soother' for his fretful, fading mind. His unconditional love for the show and my shared viewing with him has given me an empathetic perspective beyond my entrenched cynicism and equivocation. The recent seasons of KBC have been all about Bachchan carrying forward the mantle of the Baghban patriarch effectively to the next level. He is the dignified elder but not distant, stately but not authoritarian. He is a confidant who inspires people across age groups to share their deepest feelings with him and, in turn, the nation at large. Be it a young couple's pain at their parents not accepting their inter-caste marriage or a couple forced to live separately in distant cities because of workplace demands. It's something Shah Rukh Khan couldn't channel in his one season as a host despite his flair. Bachchan smoothly adapts to the personality of each of the contestants—playful, jocular, theatrical or serious. He might be playing the lead, yet becomes the supporting actor and ally for participants, letting them take centre-stage. He tries not to be the hero in what is arguably his best role since being Salim-Javed's Vijay. The very sentimentality and wealth creation that KBC has been critiqued for appear to be its trump cards, because it all boils down to the triumph of the underdog. It's tough to not get moved by the plight of Usmanbhai, a farmer from Uttar Pradesh, matter of fact in talking about the vagaries of income and the inability to pay his child's fee for seven months. Or Sudhir Kumar Verma, a daily wage earner, referring to his trial by fire of being scorched in the furnace of mines. How can one not celebrate the never-say-die spirit of Himani Bundela, the first visually impaired crorepati on the show? And what's not to appreciate about Jayant Dule playing for the money to build bathrooms for the women in his village? It's a peep into the social contradictions of India and puts the spotlight on the struggles of the invisibilised, and their rare shots at success. In the last episode of season 16, Bachchan admitted being the kendra (centre) of the show, but one supported by three mahashaktis (superpowers)—the participants, viewers on the sets and those watching the show in their homes. It's hard to imagine that this trinity would have left him untouched. For someone who has been mythologised as the representative of the marginalised, personifying the social discontent and defiance of the times in the peak of his stardom as the screen's Angry Young Man, it's somehow apt to see him interacting with those common Indians in his most persuasive avatar since Vijay. It's about a superstar climbing down from his ivory tower to mingle with hoi polloi and make the privileged among us do the same. ‘Jana Nayagan' The First Roar: Vijay plays the true leader for the masses in H Vinoth's film

The makers of Tamil star Vijay's upcoming movie Jana Nayagan released the film's first glimpse on the occasion of the actor's 51st birthday. The film will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026, during the festival of Pongal. Directed by H Vinoth, the film marks Vijay's last outing before he gets into full-time politics. Titled 'The First Roar', the video begins with the word En Nenjil Kudiyirikum (to those who live in my heart), the famous line from his speech as the head of his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Vijay is seen as a cop with a blood-stained sword. 'A true leader rises not for power, but for the people,' says a caption in the video. Anirudh Ravichander's background score comes with the mention of 'Thalapathy', the actor's famous moniker. Jana Nayagan is touted to be a political actioner. The previously released first look of the highly-anticipated movie had the star recreate his iconic selfie from the sets of Master in Neyveli in February 2020, while the second look featured the star wielding a whip, with 'Naan Aanai Ittaal' written as a tagline ('Naan Aanai Ittaal' is the iconic song of late actor-politician MG Ramachandran from his 1965 film, Enga Veettu Pillai.) Starring his Beast co-star Pooja Hegde as the female lead, the film features an ensemble star cast that includes veteran Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Mamitha Baiju. This is Anirudh's his fifth collaboration with Vijay after Kaththi, Master, Beast, and Leo. With Sathyan Sooriyan handling the cinematography, the film has Pradeep E Ragav as the editor, Analarasu as the stunt choreographer, and Selvakumar as the art director.
