Tejashwi Yadav accuses PM Modi of being disconnected from Bihar's ground realities

Patna: Bihar Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on both PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday, accusing them of 'failure', 'extravagance', and 'disconnect' from Bihar's ground realities.
'We do not want a 'pickpocket' Prime Minister and an 'unconscious' Chief Minister. The Prime Minister gives speeches written on a teleprompter. He has no real understanding of Bihar's ground situation,' he said.
He alleged that PM Modi's speech was repetitive, lacking any new announcements, and mocked it as a recycled script with no real vision for Siwan or Bihar.
Yadav questioned the utility and cost of PM Modi's frequent visits. 'Every time the Prime Minister comes, Rs 100 crore of Bihar's money is spent. BJP is the richest party in the world, yet the cost of its rallies is borne by the poorest state of India. This is shameful,' he said.
He also accused the administration of forcibly mobilising crowds for the rally, saying, 'PM Modi and Nitish are not mass leaders. Even today, if Lalu Prasad Yadav stands in a public square, lakhs will gather on their own.'
Tejashwi also raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order.
'Bullets are being fired near the residence of the Leader of the Opposition. If this is the state of security, what safety do common people have?' Tejashwi asked.
He took a strong stance on state autonomy, saying: 'Bihar will not be run from outside. Only a Bihari will run Bihar. We are self-reliant and will fight for our rights.'
Responding to allegations of insulting B.R. Ambedkar, Tejashwi said: 'Visit outside the Patna High Court, see where Lalu Yadav established Baba Saheb's statue. The same people shouting slogans now had insulted Karpoori Thakur in the past.'
He also asked PM Modi to answer about the alleged actions of Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Ambedkar's legacy.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary likened Tejashwi's political behaviour to a 'movie character.'
'Just like Amitabh Bachchan had 'Mera Baap Chor Hai' written on his hand in a film, Tejashwi is behaving the same way. His statements show his desperation and political immaturity,' Choudhary said.
JD-U MLC and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also attacked Tejashwi. 'Tejashwi Yadav has crossed all limits of ideological poverty. He is the son of a convicted man and speaks in the same manner. He has nothing constructive to offer Bihar.'

CLAT PG aspirant moves Delhi HC against ‘arbitrary' counselling fees

NEW DELHI: A candidate who appeared for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) PG has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the high counselling fees levied by the Consortium of National Law Universities, calling them arbitrary and unaffordable for many aspirants. The petition, filed by Jatin Shrivastava, who secured the 474th rank in the entrance exam, argues that the mandatory counselling fee of Rs 30,000, along with additional charges for freezing or confirming seats, is unjust and disproportionate. The matter was mentioned on Friday before the vacation bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, who have listed it for hearing on June 23. According to Shrivastava's plea, the Consortium demands Rs 20,000 as confirmation fees for every round of counselling, which must be paid afresh each time a candidate chooses to freeze their allotted seat. The petition contends this practice lacks justification, particularly as the financial capacity of students is not assessed before levying such charges. 'That Clause 2 - 'Admissions Counselling process', vide Clause 2.1 titled as 'freeze option' of which, whenever any candidate participant intends to apply for 'freeze option', he is required to deposit a 'non-refundable confirmation fees' of Rs 20,000/- at the time of opting for freezing of any seat,' the plea read.

A fresh batch of Indian nationals evacuated from Iran landed safely in Delhi on Saturday under Operation Sindhu, as part of the Government of India's ongoing efforts to bring back its citizens from conflict-hit regions. Indian students returning from Iran via Armenia, under an evacuation operation facilitated by the Government of India, react while exiting from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, in New Delhi.(PTI) The Indian Embassy in Tehran coordinated the safe movement of students, while the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) ensured their safe return. An Indian national who was evacuated from Iran, Zaffar Abbas Naqvi, recounted how he and his family stayed indoors initially after hearing about the attack on Iran. They later moved to Mashhad, which also came under attack, prompting them to contact the Indian government. Naqvi praised the swift action taken by the government and thanked Prime Minister Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath for their support. "Everything was going fine, but one day we heard that Iran had been attacked. We stayed indoors for some time. We then moved to Mashhad. Soon Mashhad came under attack. We then contacted the Indian government. The action was so swift that we cannot express our gratitude in words. I want to thank Modi ji and Yogi ji who made all the arrangements for us...," said Naqvi. Kulsum, an Indian national evacuated from Iran, expressed relief at being back home safely, saying the situation in Iran was worrisome and the government's help was invaluable Speaking to ANI, Kulsum said, "The situation in Iran is not good. We were very worried. The government helped us a lot and brought us back home safely." Another Indian national who was evacuated from Mashhad, Mohammad Ali Qazim expressed gratitude towards the Indian government for their help in crossing the border and returning home safely. He mentioned that the situation in Iran, especially in Tehran, was not good. "I am coming from Mashhad. It feels very good to return home... We had gone on a religious journey. The situation there is not good, especially in Tehran... Indian government helped us a lot in crossing the border and bringing us to India. The UP government is also helping us a lot by taking us back home..." he said. The operation continues to bring relief to families across India, with coordinated efforts from both the Central and State governments ensuring the safe return of citizens amid the ongoing tensions in the region. Earlier, chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Hindustan Zindabad' echoed through Delhi Airport late Friday night as a special flight carrying 290 Indian nationals evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu touched down. Emotional returnees, including students and religious pilgrims, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government for ensuring their safe return amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict. The special flight landed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:30 PM IST on Friday night and was received by Secretary (CPV & OIA) Arun Kumar Chatterjee. Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesperson with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said in a post on X, "Operation Sindhu flight brings citizens home. Evacuated 290 Indian nationals from Iran, including students and religious pilgrims, by a charter flight. The flight arrived in New Delhi at 2330 hrs on 20 June and was received by Secretary (CPV & OIA) Arun Chatterjee."
