Tejashwi Yadav accuses PM Modi of being disconnected from Bihar's ground realities
Patna: Bihar Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on both PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday, accusing them of 'failure', 'extravagance', and 'disconnect' from Bihar's ground realities. 'We do not want a 'pickpocket' Prime Minister and an 'unconscious' Chief Minister. The Prime Minister gives speeches written on a teleprompter. He has no real understanding of Bihar's ground situation,' he said. He alleged that PM Modi's speech was repetitive, lacking any new announcements, and mocked it as a recycled script with no real vision for Siwan or Bihar. Yadav questioned the utility and cost of PM Modi's frequent visits. 'Every time the Prime Minister comes, Rs 100 crore of Bihar's money is spent. BJP is the richest party in the world, yet the cost of its rallies is borne by the poorest state of India. This is shameful,' he said. He also accused the administration of forcibly mobilising crowds for the rally, saying, 'PM Modi and Nitish are not mass leaders. Even today, if Lalu Prasad Yadav stands in a public square, lakhs will gather on their own.' Tejashwi also raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order. 'Bullets are being fired near the residence of the Leader of the Opposition. If this is the state of security, what safety do common people have?' Tejashwi asked. He took a strong stance on state autonomy, saying: 'Bihar will not be run from outside. Only a Bihari will run Bihar. We are self-reliant and will fight for our rights.' Responding to allegations of insulting B.R. Ambedkar, Tejashwi said: 'Visit outside the Patna High Court, see where Lalu Yadav established Baba Saheb's statue. The same people shouting slogans now had insulted Karpoori Thakur in the past.' He also asked PM Modi to answer about the alleged actions of Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Ambedkar's legacy. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary likened Tejashwi's political behaviour to a 'movie character.' 'Just like Amitabh Bachchan had 'Mera Baap Chor Hai' written on his hand in a film, Tejashwi is behaving the same way. His statements show his desperation and political immaturity,' Choudhary said. JD-U MLC and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also attacked Tejashwi. 'Tejashwi Yadav has crossed all limits of ideological poverty. He is the son of a convicted man and speaks in the same manner. He has nothing constructive to offer Bihar.'

Children of ‘anti-English' BJP leaders learn the same language, study abroad: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday advocated English as a means for the underprivileged to get jobs and move ahead in life, a remark that targets the BJP-RSS for what he calls their aversion to the colonial-era official language. 'In today's world, English is as important as your mother tongue - because it will provide employment and boost your confidence,' said Gandhi in a message to the youth on X. He said, "English is not a dam, it is a bridge. English is not a shame, it is power. English is not a chain - it is a tool to break the chains." He also lashed out at leaders from the BJP, whose own wards speak English and study abroad, while the latter dissuade the masses in India from using English. 'The BJP-RSS don't want poor kids of India to learn English - because they don't want you to ask questions, move ahead, and become equal. In today's world, English is as important as your mother tongue - because it will provide employment and boost your confidence,' wrote LoP Rahul Gandhi on X in Hindi. LoP Rahul Gandhi's message on social media also carried a short video with some young men and a list of Union Ministers whose children study in foreign universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Warwick University, Oxford University, Tufts University and the University of London. LoP Rahul Gandhi's remarks come close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's observation at an event on Thursday that the time is not far when 'English-speaking people would themselves feel ashamed'. Amit Shah's comments, made at a Hindi book's launch, followed a co-speaker's concerns over the perceived threat to Hindi and differences within people over its use. 'Mark my words, there is no crisis. In the coming years, such an Indian society is soon going to become a reality in which English-speaking people would themselves feel ashamed,' said Amit Shah. Half-baked knowledge acquired through foreign languages cannot lead to a complete understanding of Indian culture, history and religion, he said, emphasising Hindi's role as a uniting factor in the country. LoP Rahul Gandhi's remarks on valuing Indian languages also carried a powerful message against the alleged imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi speaking states like Tamil Nadu. 'Every language of India has soul, culture, and knowledge. We have to cherish them, and at the same time, teach English to every child. This is the path to an India that competes with the world, that gives every child an equal opportunity,' said LoP Rahul Gandhi.

Face of women's movement in Sandeshkhali threatened by cop: LoP
Kolkata: The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Thursday morning, shared a video where one of the leading faces of the women's movement at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal last year was seen describing how she had been threatened and abused by officer-incharge of the local police station in the last few days. While sharing the video where Piyali Das a.k.a. Mampi was heard sharing her trauma, the LoP said that the officer-incharge of Sandeshkhali Police Station, Bolai Ghosh tried to lure her to join the ruling party's camp. However, when he failed to convince her to join the ruling party in the state, he threatened and abused her over the phone. The allegations on this count were corroborated in the video shared by Piyali Das. 'One of the protesting mothers and sisters who spoke out against Sheikh Shahjahan's criminal empire in Sandeshkhali, Piyali Das was being lured into the party by various means by the Trinamool Congress for the last few days. "When Piyali Das did not give in to that temptation, the police started pressuring her. When she did not give in, Sandeshkhali Police Station OC Bolai Ghosh called Piyali Das on WhatsApp and abused her in unspeakable words, threatened her, said that she would have to pay the price for not listening. He told her that no one would be able to do anything about the action he would take against her," Adhikari alleged in his statement. He also claimed that OC Bolai Ghosh used the mobile phone of a local village policeman Bishwajit Das to make the threats in order to avoid direct evidence against him. The LoP praised Das for standing firm in the face of such threats by the cops. 'Piyali Das has bravely stood firm in her decision, ignoring the temptations and threats from the ruling Trinamool Congress and its police. She has not bowed. I admire her courageous attitude,' Adhikari claimed. According to him, the event proves that Trinamool Congress' presence in West Bengal is not backed by public support but by the force used by police, miscreants, and jihadis. 'The truth of our claim has been proven once again in this incident. The reign of these thieves and robbers will not last long, there will be a change,' Adhikari added.
