ScotRail issues warning of delays and cancellations on key routes this morning
Commuters have been warned to expect delays and cancellations on several key ScotRail services this morning.
A signalling fault was detected in the Newton area this morning and has had a knock-on effect on train services in and around Glasgow.

ScotRail has confirmed that multiple routes are affected, with some services facing cancellations, delays, or last-minute timetable changes.

The train operator has confirmed that Network Rail engineers are on site investigating the issue, but passengers should expect short-notice delays until repairs are completed.
In a statement, ScotRail said: "We've been advised by Network Rail that they are currently dealing with a signalling fault in the Newton area which is affecting our services."

Isle of Wight Festival bus driver escapes fire
A bus used to ferry passengers to and from the Isle of Wight Festival has been destroyed by fire. The driver managed to safely pull over before emergency services were called at 00:40 BST to Newport Road. No-one else had been onboard the bus which had been shuttling people between Cowes ferry terminal and the festival site in Newport. Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager, said: "There was no prior warning of any issue, and the driver pulled over immediately and safely." "This type of incident is extremely rare, and we are investigating to establish the cause of the fire. Early indications suggest a mechanical issue," he said. The former Salisbury Reds bus has been retained on the island and is part of the additional fleet used for festival transport each year. "The vehicle has been maintained and was prepared for service by the Southern Vectis team," said Mr Tyldsley. The Isle of Wight Festival started on Thursday with some of the thousands of revellers making their way to the island. Sione Tuipulotu set to join exclusive Greenock Wanderers club with Lions start
A SCOTLAND rugby player with family ties to Greenock is set to join an exclusive club on Friday. Sione Tuipulotu has been named in the starting line-up for the British and Irish Lions' match against Argentina in Dublin - with the squad looking to say farewell on a high note before boarding the plane for their tour of Australia. Tuipulotu is one of four Scottish players chosen to face the Pumas for the 'Lions 1888 Cup' on Friday, with Pierre Schoeman and Duhan van der Merwe also in the starting XV and Tupulotu's Warriors team-mate Scott Cummings on the bench. Tuipulotu was born in Australia but qualifies for Scotland, and therefore for the Lions, through his Greenock-born grandmother, Jacqueline Thomson, who grew up a stone's throw from the Wanderers' Octavia Terrace home before emigrating 'down under' in the 1960s. Both Tuipulotu and his brother Mosese, also a Scotland international, were given honorary Wanderers life membership, along with Jacqueline, last year. The Scotland captain previously revealed how emotional a moment it was to learn he'd made it into Farrell's squad after cruelly missing out on Scotland's Six Nations campaign earlier this year. He said: 'When I got hurt, that's all that came into my mind, is that I wouldn't be able to play for Scotland in the Six Nations when I'd just been named skipper, and it felt like I let the country down a little bit. 'Then you add in the fact that it was a Lions year, and I'll be blatantly honest, I thought it (Lions chance) was over for me. Sussex is home to a number of great beaches to visit, with some even being suggested to be among the best in the country. With a heatwave on its way to the South East this weekend, we have picked out three beaches in Sussex that are highly rated. From one with "superb views" to another great for sandcastles, these are worth visiting. In the spring, Condé Nast Traveller revealed 56 of the best beaches in the UK. Among those named on the list were three beaches in Sussex. First was Cuckmere Haven, in Seaford. Cuckmere Haven beach is part of the Seven Sisters area (Image: Tripadvisor) CNT said this beach was "one of the top picks for the best beaches near London". It described it as "one of the wildest beaches on the south coast, with superb views of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs". The publisher added: "At low tide, the adventurous can explore the foreshore eastwards all the way to the Birling Gap, or head west for sea caves." This beach has a 4.7/5 rating on Tripadvisor from more than 200 reviews, with one saying: "The cliffs are blindingly white and the beach and surrounding countryside is so pretty". Also making the list was West Wittering beach. This is a hugely popular spot for locals and travellers alike, with CNT saying it "draws a crowd from all over the south coast". It added: "Low tide brings the promise of shallow lagoons to paddle in and creates a blank canvas for sand-castles. "There's a grassy patch ideal for picnics behind the beach huts that fringe the beach." West Wittering is rated 4.1/5 on Tripadvisor, but has received more than 1,400 reviews, proving its popularity. One reviewer said: "Must be one of the best beaches in the south east. Amazing large sandy beach, very dog friendly in the winter months." The final beach making the list was Seven Sisters, which is home to a number of beaches, including Cuckmere Haven, as mentioned previously. Seven Sisters is known for its tough walking routes, providing some of the best views along the coast of the famous white chalk cliffs. There is a beach in front of the cliffs to explore, which is another great option for hikers or day-trippers looking for somewhere to cool off. On Tripadvisor, there are a number of other beaches in Sussex that are also highly rated. In East Sussex, these include Camber Sands, Brighton, Bexhill, Winchelsea and Pevensey Bay. In West Sussex, some of the best beaches include Pagham, Littlehampton, Worthing and Lancing. Camber Sands is regularly recognised as one of, if not the best, beach in Sussex. It has the most reviews on Tripadvisor, with just less than 2,000, still enjoying a 4.3 rating.
