The simple ceremony was held at the Layang-Layang Aerospace hangar located in Tanjung Aru. The generous donation, included portable ultrasound machines, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), oxygen concentrators, and various medical kits. The items were handed over to Sabah Health Director Dr Maria Suleiman who thanked the crucial role FDS plays in providing healthcare to remote and underserved communities across Sabah, often facing significant logistical challenges. She highlighted that the donated equipment will significantly enhance the FDS's capacity to diagnose, treat, and save lives, particularly in areas with limited access to medical facilities. 'This contribution is not merely a collection of machines and tools; it is a lifeline, a beacon of hope, and a testament to the enduring spirit of partnership and compassion between our nations,' the lady director said.

He said through the provision of helicopter-related medical equipment, our goal is to strengthen the capabilities of the Sabah State Health Department's Flying Doctor Service in delivering healthcare to those who need it most— especially in remote and underserved areas of the vast and beautiful state of Sabah. The Flying Doctors Service plays an extraordinary role in connecting communities with lifesaving care, often in places where there are no roads and no other means of access. The challenges are many, but so too is the determination and dedication of the Flying Doctors Service team. This effort reflects the enduring partnership between the United States and Malaysia. Germ Buster Challenge promotes food safety awareness among students
The participants of the State-Level Germ Buster Challenge Programme 2025. TAWAU (June 20): Food poisoning is a recurring issue in schools nationwide, caused by various factors. These include food handlers who do not practice personal hygiene, unclean premises, and unsafe food handling and storage. Additionally, the lack of the 'Look, Smell and Taste' practice among students before consuming food also contributes to such incidents. On June 14, the Food Safety and Quality Division of the Sabah State Health Department, in collaboration with the Tawau District Health Office and the Tawau District Education Office, organized the State-Level Germ Buster Challenge Programme 2025 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Batu Keramat, Tawau. The event was officiated by deputy director of the Sabah State Health Department, Sitti Aralas A total of 361 students and 28 teachers from 11 primary schools in the Tawau district participated in the programme. According to Sitti Aralas, this programme targets primary school students with the main objective of educating them on food hygiene and safety through interactive and fun activities to effectively convey the message. The two main components of the programme were an Explorace Competition themed around food hygiene and safety, as well as a food safety and hygiene talk. The challenging and informative Explorace competition crowned Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Batu Keramat as the champion, while Sekolah Kebangsaan Jambatan Putih secured second place, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Holy Trinity took third place. The Food Safety and Quality Division of the Sabah State Health Department hopes that through this programme, awareness and knowledge among school communities will be enhanced regarding the importance of personal hygiene, cleanliness and food safety to prevent food poisoning incidents in schools.

James highlighted the project's significant achievements, including the complete integration of digital platforms across key departments, the transition from paper-based to digital systems for crucial processes like triage and clinical encounters, and the implementation of real-time dashboards for informed decision-making. He emphasised the project's success in integrating laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy modules with the Hospital Information System (HIS), and the deployment of AI-enabled tools to support clinical decision-making. The Minister underscored the project's positive impact on improving healthcare access for remote and underserved communities, accelerating data-driven state-level health policy decisions, and enhancing the efficiency and transparency of healthcare resource allocation. He called the initiative a 'low-risk, high-impact transformation' with the potential to set a new benchmark for smarter healthcare delivery in the region. 'The successful completion of the Proof of Concept (PoC) at Tuaran and Beluran Hospitals positions them as pioneers in digital healthcare within Sabah, paving the way for the development of a future-proof, autonomous digital healthcare ecosystem tailored to the unique needs of the state,' James affirmed his ministry's commitment to supporting the full implementation of this transformative initiative.
