Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton and Apple CEO Tim Cook have opened up about their involvement in the making of the F1 movie, which is set to release next week.
Featuring Hollywood icon Brad Pitt as a veteran F1 driver who returns to an underdog team to mentor a young driver played by Damson Idris, the movie promises a cinematic experience loaded with drama and edge-of-your-seat racing.
The involvement of co-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director of 'Top Gun: Maverick,' Joseph Kosinski, adds more confidence to the idea that the movie will depict authentic F1 action.

Executive producer Hamilton was entrusted with the job of ensuring viewers experienced an action-packed blockbuster that portrayed F1 realism. The Briton worked with the crew during filming to ensure the movie showcased the sport in the most authentic way.
Filming was also carried out on actual race weekends with real F1 cars and drivers to ensure it didn't look fake in any way. Pitt and Idris drove at high speeds in special F2 cars that were designed to look like F1 cars. Speaking about his role, Hamilton said in an interview with Reuters Television:
"I really wanted to make sure the authenticity was there, and it worked for both the younger and the older audience, and then making sure that the racing was true to what it is.
"All the other drivers, all the teams, are relying on me to make sure that it does."
Hamilton even went to the extent of ensuring that Pitt was race-ready before filming commenced. While he did prove that he had racing DNA, Pitt had to undergo further training to blend into his role. The Ferrari F1 driver continued:
"I really wanted to see, can you actually drive? He already had the knack. He really went in deep."
Newsweek Sports previously reported how custom iPhone cameras were used to capture onboard racing footage. Producing partner Apple went a step further to ensure the cameras replicated broadcast cameras on the cars. Tim Cook hinted that plenty of resources were pressed into action at Apple to ensure the cameras produced footage that met the expectations of the production team. He said:
"This movie was just a great example of putting the whole of the company behind a movie. We designed the camera that went into the car to capture the incredible driving experience. It makes you feel like you're actually sitting in the car and experiencing what Brad is experiencing."
F1 will premiere on June 25 and June 27 in North America.

Ed Sheeran releases new song 'Drive' featuring John Mayer, Dave Grohl: Watch music video

Ed Sheeran has released new music. The singer-songwriter dropped the song "Drive" on Friday, his contribution to the soundtrack of the upcoming Brad Pitt Formula One racing film " F1." There's also a video to go along with the rocking track, which features guitar by John Mayer and drums courtesy of Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl. Watch the full video below. "i knew that i wanted to make a proper rock song for [the movie], a proper driving song. something you'd wanna turn up to the fullest amount whilst driving," Sheeran wrote in the caption of an Instagram post Friday. He noted that he co-wrote the song with Mayer and songwriter Blake Slatkin, and that Grohl and musician Pino Palladino, a session bassist, were "the final jigsaw pieces of the song." "pure dream team for the genre of rock, and i really feel what we created fits the scene in the movie so well," he continued. "i LOVE making songs for movies, ever since i did 'I See Fire' for The Hobbit. it really lets me as a movie fan, behind the curtain, help create the perfect song for a scene in a movie." In the accompanying music video, Sheeran sings on a racetrack while Formula One cars whiz by him and fly through the air. At the end, he gets behind the wheel of what looks like a super-charged dune buggy and drives through the desert and onto a beach. "Movies and art are the only hobbies outside of music i really have, and i love my time at [F1 events] whenever i get to go play there. so this was like a match made in heaven," Sheeran wrote in his Instagram post Friday. "i'm so honored to work with such great musicians on it, and hope you guys love the end result." "F1" follows veteran racer Sonny Hayes (Pitt), who is recruited by Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, to join his Formula One team and race alongside Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. The movie and the soundtrack are both out June 27.

Owners Bring Home Saint Bernard, Poodle Mix—Shock at What She Grows Into

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. When bringing home a young, mixed-breed puppy, owners can only imagine what their canine will look like as an adult, which left one family with a bigger fur mess than they expected. A family didn't know what to imagine when welcoming home a Saint Bernard and poodle mix, also known as a Saint Berdoodle. This hybrid is known to be a friendly and affectionate yet protective dog, according to an article from Dogster. These gentle giants make a great family dog, especially as they are hypoallergenic. Given the dog's lineage, the owners planned for a large dog breed, but a March 16 Instagram video posted to the account @yourfriendmarley showed how they underestimated her size. The text on the video reads "when two worlds collide," accompanied by images of the two dog breeds. The product was Marley, a giant fluff baby. About 93 pounds later, their dog was fully grown, and their home was filled with endless fur. Marley stood up with her front paws propping her on the kitchen counter. She stood as tall as the man in the background. Her entire body was covered with luscious, curly hair that looked like a cloud. Newsweek reached out to @yourfriendmarley via Instagram for additional information and comment. Screenshots of two popular dog breeds, a Saint Bernard, left, and a white poodle. Belova Veronika and RS-photography/Getty Images Like any dog, there's plenty of upkeep when it comes to a Saint Berdoodle. The owner wrote in the comment section that Marley receives six cups of food daily and a biscuit, "plus anything she sneaks." Their coats vary. Some might be medium and thick with curly hair, or long and wavy like a Saint Bernard's coat. But either way, daily grooming is essential to avoid any knots. Viewer Reactions The Instagram video amassed over 12.7 million views, 555,000 likes and 4,356 comments as of Friday. "He needs to start paying rent," joked a viewer, while a second wrote: "I thought it was AI." Another added: "That ain't no dog that's a horse." Someone else commented: "I'm a dog groomer and I think I'd die on the spot if that walked in." While many were stunned by the dog's mane, others expressed concern about breeding these two dogs together, claiming many hybrid mixes come from unethical breeders and are prone to health or behavioral issues.
