Here are 5 movies you don't want to miss this summer in Dubai F1 Release date: June 26 Formula 1 fans, time to take your place on the grid as F1 finally roars into theatres on June 26. The movie which took four years to produce, is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick . It stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and even the current Formula 1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly. The movie follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a promising driver who had an accident that nearly ended his career. 30 years later, the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team convinces him to return to racing and become 'the best in the world.' Driving alongside the team's hotshot, Sonny learns the road to redemption is not an easy task, and not one to travel alone. Will Formula 1 fans give this movie the champagne celebration it deserves, or will it be a 'DNF'? We will have to wait and see. Jurassic World Rebirth Release date: July 3 For fans of the franchise…our terrifying, scaly friends are back on the big screen this July. Now in its seventh installment, the roaring action of Jurassic Park Rebirth takes place several years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion . We will join a team of scientists heading to a remote island on a mission to secure some genetic material that could possibly be a medical breakthrough that could save thousands of lives. If you thought the dinosaurs from past editions were scary, well… you'd be wrong. The ones on this island were deemed too dangerous for the original park, and we are about to meet them…and something a lot more disturbing. Superman Release date: July 10 If you're out of touch with this iconic DC Comics character, thankfully you don't need to start from scratch, as director James Gunn has designed it to be a fresh starting point for new viewers. We bid a teary farewell to Henry Cavill and welcome David Corenswet who soared into action, taking over the blue and red suit. The plot, however (and as with most superhero movies), is hard to pinpoint. What we do know is Clark Kent is working as a reporter at the Daily Planet newspaper with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and he is trying to live a normal life, or at least a balanced one. But are things really that simple? He faces trouble when Lex Luthor – a smart and powerful enemy – comes in his way. While we're obviously used to seeing Superman dominate in the 'good versus evil' theme, this movie showcases a Superman that is driven by compassion with an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind. Get your tickets here. The Naked Gun Release date: July 15 Remember protagonist Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen)? How could you forget him? The bumbling police lieutenant – without a doubt – bought the giggles with his performance in The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad as he somehow managed to save the day without even realising it. And now… 27 years later, we are being gifted a reboot. Meet Frank Drebin Jr (Liam Neeson), the son of Frank Drebin. He too, is a bumbling cop. What can we say… like father, like son. Drebin Junior's quirky police department is in danger of being shut down unless he can crack a major case. He teams up with Beth (played by the one and only Pamela Anderson) to solve her brother's murder… but not without stumbling through it all. Expect the classic gags, nods to the original movie, and modern twists. It's pure, chaotic, old-school comedy. Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt To Reunite On Screen After 31 Years? Here's What We Know
Last Updated: Brad Pitt said he is open to working with Tom Cruise again, but has one condition. Brad Pitt is open to working with Tom Cruise again, as long as he doesn't have to do any big stunts. The 61-year-old actor hasn't appeared on-screen with the Mission: Impossible star, 62, since 1994's Interview with the Vampire, and Pitt has now revealed he would collaborate with Cruise again, on the condition that his feet stay firmly on the ground. Speaking with E! News, Pitt said: 'Well, I'm not gonna hang my a** off airplanes and s*** like that. So when he does something again that's on the ground [then yes]." Pitt will next be seen in F1 – the high-octane racing movie from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. In F1, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired racer who returns to the track with new blood Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) in a bid to become the best Formula One driver in the world. While Pitt wants to avoid doing any major stunts in a Tom Cruise movie, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor had driven at 180-miles-per-hour in real Formula One cars for F1. Speaking at a Q+A event in March, Kosinski said: '[Pitt] just had that natural feel for grip in the car, and what we're doing on this film is dangerous. So yeah, you have to be fearless, and when you see Brad driving, that's not acting." He added: 'He's really concentrating on keeping that car on the track and out of the wall during all those scenes. So that's something that you just can't fake, I think. I hope the audience feels that when they watch the movie." The filmmaker added that Pitt had undergone 'months of training" to prepare for the racing scenes, which also involved learning the art of the sport under the tutelage of seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. Kosinski explained: 'Brad and Damson are both driving in this film and in order to get them into these race cars, it required months, literally months of training. But the first day was really fun. It was me, Brad and Lewis Hamilton at the track together, all of us jumping in cars and driving each other around in sports cars, which was one of those things, I'll never forget having Lewis Hamilton as your driving instructor. But what we learned and what Lewis was really interested was seeing did Brad knew how to drive right? Because if Brad can't drive, this whole film wasn't going to work." The director said Hamilton found Pitt to be a 'very talented, naturally gifted driver" when they first sped around the track together. Kosinski said: 'And what Lewis was very happy to discover was that Brad had a lot of just natural ability right from the start. And I don't know where he got that or if he was born with it, and he rides motorcycles, which I think has something to do with it, but he's just a very talented, naturally gifted driver, which for Lewis after that first meeting gave him a lot of confidence that we might have a shot at pulling this off." A source told People that Brad 'loved having Ines by his side" at the premiere event. The couple made their first red carpet appearance together in 2024 at the Venice Film Festival premiere of Wolfs, featuring George Clooney with Brad. 'She's no drama, very supportive, and they're doing really well," the same insider shared, before adding that Ines is 'perfect for him." Such a compliment for Ines, whom he has been dating since 2022, came at a time when Brad is still embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, whom he got married to in 2014 after a decade-long relationship. The former couple filed for divorce in 2016, and it was finalised eight years later in December 2024 after a long, contentious battle in court. Before parting ways, Brad and Angelina had six children together, three adoptive and three biological: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. Brad brought Ines as his date to F1's premiere just a few days after they enjoyed an outing with Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper. It was a double date night for the two couples, who seemingly had a great time at Cote Korean Steakhouse in New York City on June 13. FYI, Brad and Bradley had been friends for a long time, with the F1 actor even helping out the Maestro actor overcome his addiction problem. As for Brad Pitt's work front, the 61-year-old actor has been pulling out all the stops to promote his sports drama F1 The Movie. Scheduled to be released on June 27, the film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, the filmmaker behind Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick. In the sports drama, Brad plays the role of Sonny Hayes, a Formula One driver who left racing following a horrible crash. After his forced retirement from Formula One, he is brought back to Formula One by his friend and former teammate, Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, to train his team. Sonny is tasked with training a rookie driver, Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris. Other than the lead cast, the film will also feature professional F1 drivers like Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Sergio Perez, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, among others. Revheads dressed in their best trackside glam for the event and enjoyed an array of alcoholic beverages, including a cherry cocktail with F1-themed ice. From the filmmakers of Top Gun: Maverick and directed by Joseph Kosinski, it is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Kosinski, famed Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner and Chad Oman. It stars Pitt as a former driver who returns to Formula 1, alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid. During promotion, the film's soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer, attracted generous hype with talents such as Don Toliver, Doja Cat, Rose, Myke Towers and Tate McRae releasing singles part of F1 the Album. The feature was shot during actual Grand Prix weekends as the team competes against the titans of the sport and also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, and Javier Bardem. The real thing feels far less predictable than Hollywood's drive to milk corporate sponsors and cash in on F1's popularity. All the parts were in place to make F1: The Movie unforgettable. A blockbuster director in Joseph Kosinski, fresh from the success of Top Gun: Maverick. Guidance from racing legend Lewis Hamilton and F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali to make sure it didn't run off course. There's a lot of mystery surrounding fighter pilots, their jets and missions. Top Gun pulls viewers into a world off-limits to civilians. But F1 offers a fictionalised spin on a world its fans are intimately familiar with. Racing fans are spoiled. It's everywhere you look. And its real stories are better than what Hollywood scripted. Picture: Apple TV+ via AP F1: The Movie is about a struggling team owner (Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem) who turns to a retired racing star of the 1990s (Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt) in a desperate ploy to win a race. There's friction from young teammate Joshua (played by Damson Idris) and team technical director Kate (played by Kerry Condon), before everyone works together to get their trophy. Fans will never forget the career-defining battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, culminating in the controversy of Abu Dhabi's season finale in 2021. Look at that pair. There's rich material in Verstappen's well-documented struggle with an abusive father, or the way Hamilton's raw talent drove him through adversity. Robert Kubica last week completed a fairytale story by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans – arguably the world's biggest race – in a Ferrari, years after a near-fatal rally crash prevented him from driving for Ferrari in Formula 1. Hours later, the battle between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris boiled over in Canada. Piastri, ice-cold, unflappable and inscrutable, went wheel to wheel with a Norris plagued by a lack of confidence in his clearly immense ability. The Mercedes-AMG GT stars in F1: The Movie. Picture: Supplied My invitation to the Australian premiere of F1: The Movie included a drive of a $400,000 Mercedes-AMG sports car that features in the film, the opportunity to wear the same $45,000 IWC watch shown on screen, and all the alcohol-free Heineken I could drink. Which isn't much. The best racing movies are underpinned by real stories. X SUBSCRIBER ONLY Rush (2013) faithfully tells the gripping story of James Hunt and Niki Lauda, pitched in a do-or-die battle with brutal consequences. Ford v Ferrari (2019) has Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles beating the odds to win Le Mans, and the biographical Senna (2010) is told with more care than Kosinski managed. I'd even argue Will Ferrell's silly NASCAR flick Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) has more heart, humour and audience appeal than a none-too-convincing Brad Pitt trying to climb onto the podium. Sure, the film might give F1 a further bump in popularity. But fans won't find much beyond what they already see on Grand Prix Sundays. F1: The Movie reaches Australian screens on June 26.
