Was Nintendo the problem all along? Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation sparks shock
Published June 10th, 2025 - 10:52 GMT
ALBAWABA - Japanese developer Game Freak recently took the internet by storm during the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase after revealing its upcoming souls-like, Beast of Reincarnation. The stunning graphics left people in shock after they compared the developer's previous games to Nintendo's Pokémon franchise.
Game Freak has always been subjected to criticism for its lackluster graphics and poor optimization in Pokémon games such as Sword and Shield, Legends: Arceus, Scarlet and Violet, and many more. Many fans blamed the developer, further stating that the studio lacks "motivation."
However, others blamed the Nintendo Switch hardware, deeming it "outdated" and "weak" for its time, which caused limitations in graphics and performance. — PlayStation (@PlayStation) June 9, 2025
While that might've been the case, other Nintendo titles like Kirby: The Forgotten Lands, Mario Kart 8, Luigi's Mansion 3, and many more run steadily with stunning graphics.
Additionally, Game Freak recently showcased the visible difference in textures between the Switch and Switch 2 versions of its upcoming game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Beast of Reincarnation (Game Freak)
Game Freak describes Beast of Reincarnation as "an expansive one-person, one-dog action RPG built around demanding, technical combat."
It follows the story of Emma and her loyal canine companion, Koo, who venture into post-apocalyptic Japan as humanity's last hope. The game is set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Xbox Game Pass and Steam.
According to its Steam store page, Beast of Reincarnation draws elements from adventure, action, and souls-like games

GTA 6 Delay Impacts Global Video Game Market Growth - Jordan News
The global video game market is expected to see only a modest improvement in growth in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to a report by research firm Newzoo. Analysts and industry experts had initially projected a more significant boost for the industry this year, fueled by the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI from Take-Two Interactive and the release of next-generation gaming hardware. اضافة اعلان However, the delay of GTA 6 to 2026, coupled with rising console prices due to tariffs, has cast uncertainty over consumer spending in the gaming sector. According to Newzoo's report, the global video game market is projected to grow by 3.4% to $188.9 billion in 2025, slightly higher than the 3.2% growth recorded in 2024. 'These projections reflect tangible shifts in hardware cycles, pricing trends, install base expansion, and the upcoming game release schedule,' said Michiel Buijsman, lead analyst at Newzoo. A Bigger Boost Expected in 2026 With GTA VI now set for a 2026 release, the industry is expected to see a more significant sales boost next year, especially with other major titles like Capcom's "Resident Evil Requiem" also on the horizon. The report noted that the eventual release of GTA 6 on PC could help extend the growth momentum into 2027. Hardware Pricing and Market Concerns The report also highlighted consumer concerns surrounding rising hardware prices. Both Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation consoles have seen price increases, which may deter potential buyers amid ongoing economic uncertainty worldwide. Even though Nintendo's Switch 2 is on track to become the company's fastest-selling console, Xbox is still trailing behind the sales performance of its previous generation. 'We expect higher Xbox sales than last year, but not record-breaking numbers,' Buijsman explained. 'As for PlayStation 5, sales are projected to stay slightly below those of the PlayStation 4.' New Hardware on the Horizon Microsoft recently unveiled its new handheld gaming device, the Xbox Ally, developed in collaboration with ASUS. The device is scheduled to launch during the 2025 holiday season, potentially adding momentum to the market during the year-end sales window. Despite the current tempered growth, 2026 is shaping up to be a milestone year for the gaming industry, with flagship game launches and new hardware releases poised to drive stronger performance across global markets.

Nintendo Switch 2 sells over 3.5 million units in 4 days
ALBAWABA - The Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold 3.5 million units worldwide, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo console ever, despite many boycott calls from fans and tech enthusiasts alike due to the company's controversial pricing of its games. Compared to its predecessor, the Switch 2 features a larger, more vibrant LCD screen with colors matching those of the OLED version, a faster processor that enables games to run smoother and at a higher refresh rate, new magnetic Joy-Cons with mouse functionality, and a dedicated chat button. Nintendo's newest console also supports 4K resolution when docked, allowing players to experience a higher resolution when playing on their TV. According to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the Switch 2's custom chip is considered the most advanced processor built into a mobile device, giving the console a cutting-edge advantage with new ray-tracing technology, graphical enhancements, and backward compatibility support. Additionally, the new chip has enabled demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 to run, despite occasional FPS drops below the 30 mark, making it a strong competitor to Valve's Steam Deck. Despite its visible technological advancement, many gamers have voiced concern about Nintendo's pricing for the Switch 2, deeming it "too expensive" for their taste at $450 MSRP ($500 for the Mario Kart World bundle). Nintendo didn't help its case after revealing Mario Kart World's hefty $80 price tag, which sparked widespread boycott calls from fans. However, Nintendo announced that the sales of the Switch 2 were double the amount of the original Switch console in the first four days.
