No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward signs his rookie contract
The Titans signed quarterback Cam Ward to his rookie contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Ward, the No. 1 overall pick, becomes the seventh player from the team's nine-player draft class to sign with the team.
The Titans previously reached deals with safety Kevin Winston Jr. (3rd round), tight end Gunnar Helm (fourth round), receiver Elic Ayomanor (4th round), guard Jackson Slater (5th round), cornerback Marcus Harris (6th round) and running back Kalel Mullings (6th round).
Outside linebacker Oluwafemi Oladejo (second round) and receiver Chimere Dike (fourth round) are the team's only remaining unsigned draft picks.
Ward is participating in the team's offseason program after taking part in the team's rookie minicamp earlier this month.
He takes over in Tennessee after playing 57 college games at Incarnate Word (2020-21), Washington State (2022-23) and the University of Miami (2024).
Last season at Miami, Ward was named first-team All-American and was a Heisman finalist after throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns. He led the Hurricanes to their first 10-win season since 2017.

Oklahoma Sooners still a force on the recruiting trail
The Oklahoma Sooners won a major recruiting battle on Friday night when they landed a commitment from 2026 four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley. Bentley chose the Sooners over the LSU Tigers. Bentley had a number of Power Four offers from across the country. One wouldn't think the Sooners could pull off this kind of recruitment given their record under Brent Venables. However, anyone who's willing to look beyond the box score understands that it isn't simply a matter of execution on the football field. Venables' first year in Norman was marred by a lack of defensive talent. The Sooners lost defensive stars from the Alex Grinch/Lincoln Riley era, like Nik Bonitto, Perrion Winfrey, Brian Asamoah, Isaiah Thomas, and Dellarin Turner-Yell, to the NFL, and weren't left with a lot of depth. That led to a defense that allowed 30 points per game in 2022. Certainly not typical of a Brent Venables defense. Still not the expectation, but significantly better and a step in the right direction, especially on defense. Then last year, nothing went right for the offense. It was already an uphill battle as Oklahoma was replacing all five offensive line starters from 2023 and going from one of the most experienced quarterbacks in college football, Dillon Gabriel, to a talented former five-star quarterback, Jackson Arnold. Injuries along the offensive line and at wide receiver set the Sooners' offense back before it ever got started, and Oklahoma limped to a 6-7 season. After two 6-7 years, one would think the bottom was about to drop out on the recruiting trail with the Oklahoma Sooners. But Bentley's commitment shows that's far from the case. Sure, he and his family are Sooners fans but that isn't always the clincher in a big-time recruitment. Oklahoma still had to fend off the Tigers, a program that boasts a pair of Heisman winners since 2019. Bentley had to ignore an offer from defending national champion Ohio State as well as one of the best teams in college football over the last decade, the Georgia Bulldogs. Those schools may have had quarterback preferences in the 2026 recruiting class, but those offers were still significant. And Bentley chose Oklahoma despite everything that's been said about Brent Venables and the future of the program over the last six months. Because it's easy to have optimism about an Oklahoma program that's been one of the most successful programs in the history of college football, over the last 50 years, and over the last 25 years. And with one of the hottest offensive coordinators in the game, Ben Arbuckle, in Norman to help Oklahoma rebound on offense, the Sooners are more likely to return to expectations than they are to continue this trend of struggling to make a bowl game. Contrary to popular belief, Oklahoma hasn't lost a step on the recruiting trail. Brent Venables, Jim Nagy and their respective staffs move the needle with prospects and their families. Georgia football's top 10 all-time leading rushers
The Georgia Bulldogs have one of the greatest running back histories in all of college football. Year in and year out the University of Georgia has a talented stable of running backs. This upcoming season is expected be no different. Most notably, Georgia running back Herschel Walker had one of greatest careers in college football history. He won the 1982 Heisman and won the 1980 national championship. Over the years, Georgia fans have been spoiled with the elite running back play, especially over in recent history years. In the 2010s, Kirby Smart and Mark Richt helped UGA produce four of the top 10 all-time leading rushers in school history. All of Georgia's all-time leading rushers come from the past 50 years. The Bulldogs have had so much talent come through the running backs room over the years that a Super Bowl MVP (Terrell Davis) and a Heisman Trophy winner (Frank Sinkwich) are not among Georgia's top 10 all-time leading rushers. Who are Georgia football's top 10 all-time leading rushers? 10. Thomas Brown - (2,646 rushing yards) Brown never produced a 1,000 yard season at Georgia, but he was productive when healthy and was part of an impressive running back duo with Knowshon Moreno in 2007. The Atlanta Falcons drafted Brown in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft. Years: 2004-2007 9. Rodney Hampton (2,668 rushing yards) Hampton was a consistent producer in three seasons at UGA. He accumulated at least 700 rushing yards and six total touchdowns every year at Georgia. The New York Giants selected Hampton in the first round of the 1990 NFL draft. Years: 1987-1989 8. Knowshon Moreno (2,734 rushing yards) Knowshon Moreno had a breakout season in 2007 after redshirting in 2006. He produced at least 1,300 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in both 2007 and 2008 before he entered the NFL draft. Years: 2006-2008 7. D'Andre Swift (2,885 rushing yards) The Detroit Lions drafted D'Andre Swift in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Swift came to Athens as a five-star recruit and lived up to the billing. Swift is one of the most elusive backs in Georgia history. Years: 2017-2019 6. Lars Tate (3,017 rushing yards) Only Herschel Walker and Nick Chubb carried the ball more in their UGA career than Lars Tate. Tate's 36 career rushing touchdowns are also tied for third in school history. Years: 1984-1987 5. Garrison Hearst (3,232 rushing yards) Hearst was Georgia's most productive running back of the 1990s. He went on to the No. 3 pick in the first round of the 1993 NFL draft and ran for 7,966 yards and 30 touchdowns in his NFL career. Years: 1990-1992 4. Todd Gurley (3,285 rushing yards) Todd Gurley was extremely productive starting with his first career college football game against Buffalo in 2012. Gurley put on an outstanding performance in Georgia's 2012 SEC championship loss to Alabama and went on to be a first-round NFL draft pick. Years: 2012-2014 3. Sony Michel (3,613 rushing yards) Sony Michel former the best running back duo in Georgia football history alongside Nick Chubb. The duo helped Georgia win an SEC title in 2017 and a Rose Bowl. However, they lost in their final college game to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the national championship. Years: 2014-2017 2. Nick Chubb (4,769 rushing yards) Nick Chubb went on to have an outstanding NFL career primarily with the Cleveland Browns. He would've had a shot to break Herschel Walker's record if not for his unfortunate leg injury. Years: 2014-2017 1. Herschel Walker (5,259 rushing yards) It only took Herschel Walker three seasons to become Georgia's top rusher of all-time. He won a Heisman, a national championship, and went on to have a solid NFL career. Walker is arguably the best player in college football history. Years: 1980-1982

Not done yet: Titans eyeing late run at finals
Gold Coast stars AJ Brimson and Kieran Foran insist the last-placed side can still make a late run and contend for finals with one proviso. The Titans, who play Parramatta away on Sunday night, have also had good news on their two State of Origin representatives Moeaki Fotuaika and Tino Fa'asuamalaeaui. Both middle forwards travelled to Sydney on Saturday to join the team and are set to play the Eels. Fa'asuamaleaui had a sternum complaint he took into Queensland's 26-24 win over NSW in Perth, but is determined to play Parramatta so long as there is no late complication. Brimson was man of the match in last week's 28-8 win over Manly playing at fullback. It was easily the Titans' best win of the year with 11 players unavailable - two to Origin and nine injured. The Titans play North Queensland at home next week and then have the bye. Brimson said it was vital the side string back-to-back wins together, starting with Parramatta, so as to have a crack at a late run to the finals. "We are planning on (the Manly win) not being a one-off. We think this is what we have been capable of for weeks," he said. "You enjoy every win when you are on the bottom. We are trying to put together some wins to finish off the year and see where we can go with it. "After a short turnaround and as outsiders that was a good team performance. "We spoke about taking the shackles off because we enjoy playing footy and that was Titans footy … backing ourselves and playing eyes-up footy. "We are back on track with the way we want to play. We have got Parramatta and we are not getting ahead of ourselves." Veteran Foran also had his best game of the season at No.6 and said the Titans were capable of figuring in September. "I still believe we can," he said. "I've always maintained we've got a great footy side here. "The first part of the season hasn't gone to plan on the back of some disappointing performances. "We've got to reset and go again. It's a block at a time. If we do that, you never know. "We've got to go step by step." In other Titans team news, boom back-rower David Fifita, named as 18th man, won't return this week after ankle surgery but is close to making a comeback. Parramatta are also at the bottom of the ladder and will be without halves Dylan Brown (suspended) and Mitchell Moses (injured). Their places will be taken by debutant Joash Papalii and Dean Hawkins.
