Dakota Johnson Stuns in a Totally Sheer Revenge Dress After Chris Martin Breakup
Dakota Johnson wore a black tulle, two-piece dress for her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on June 5.
The actress has recently worn several other memorable street style looks during her press tour for The Materialists.
The appearance comes after reports that Johnson has split from her boyfriend of nearly eight years, Chris Martin.Dakota Johnson has done it again—and, yes, by "it," I do, of course, mean a mind-bogglingly good street style moment. After all, at this point, she's kind of known for it. The actress, who is currently in New York City promoting her upcoming rom-com The Materialists, recently stepped out in a number of enviable looks—a cool suede Khaite jacket paired with over $100,000 worth of jewelry; a plunging Balenciaga bodysuit paired with a chic long leather blazer; and an asymmetric plunging skirt suit. The list goes on. Her latest look, which comes just a few days after reports that Johnson and her long-term partner, Chris Martin, split after nearly six years, is bolder than ever.
Stepping out in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood on June 5, Johnson wore an entirely see-through black tulle dress. Or at least, that's what it looked like. In fact, the look, styled by Kate Young, was comprised of two matching see-through tulle pieces from Nensi Dojaka—the Mesh Semi-Sheer Bodysuit and the Mila tulle midi skirt. Is it just me, or this kind of giving revenge dress?
She completed the daring look with the YSL Raven satin crêpe slingbacks, her trusty Gucci Jackie 1961 shoulder bag in brown, and the Oliver Peoples x Khaite 1951C sunglasses. As for her accessories, she rocked several rings by Cece Jewellery and Kate Young x Monica Vinader gold hoop earrings.
Johnson wore the look for her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she spoke about her upcoming film. The Materialists is Celine Song's second feature following 2023's Past Lives. Johnson stars alongside Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.
"Sparring with actors like Pedro and Chris, just so fun," she gushed about working with her co-stars. She then described the film not as a rom-com, but as more of a "rom-dramedy" that is "very much in the vein of Nora Ephron movies" and "Jim Brooks movies." "I think it's this balance of leaning into the actual real sad side of love."
Earlier this week, Johnson also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where she once again spoke about her relationship with Pescal—apparently, he has started stealing her clothes. 'He does that a lot. He takes my clothes," she said. "He's like always underdressed. Well, I mean, like he's wearing a T-shirt, and it's cold outside. Not like he forgot his pants.'

Seth Meyers recalls Billy Bob Thornton confronting 'SNL' lighting director: 'You got something to say?
Nobody, even SNL's lighting director, is going to tell Billy Bob Thornton where he can or can't wear a baseball cap. Seth Meyers recalls a face-off between longtime lighting director Phil Hymes and Thornton when Thornton hosted in 2001. Ultimately, Meyers said the two had a civil conversation after their initial from New York, it's a Billy Bob Thornton fight! On this week's episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers podcast, Seth Meyers recalled a tense moment between the actor and longtime Saturday Night Live lighting director Phil Hymes. "Billy Bob Thornton was hosting and he was running his monologue wearing his baseball hat," Meyers recalled. "And Phil Hymes came up out on the floor and said to someone else, 'Somebody tell him to take his hat off.'" Apparently, Thornton overheard the remark and retorted, "Hey old man, if you've got something to say, say it to my face," according to Meyers. Andy Samberg, who cohosts the podcast, was well-known for his Thornton impression on the sketch show. So, he helped Meyers with his telling of the story by imitating the Oscar winner. Hymes served as lighting director on the show from Saturday Night Live's from the show's second season in 1976 until early 2018, spending nearly 42 years with the comedy hit. Meyers noted that Hymes, well-known as an irascible backstage figure, often liked to remind the cast that he'd once lit President John F. Kennedy in the White House. Meyers, who served as the show's head writer from 2006 to 2014, also took care to stress that the confrontation wasn't as public as it might sound. "Now I also want to clarify Billy Bob Thornton did not do this in front of everybody," Meyers added. "He walked off stage and he went and talked to Phil Hymes, real man to man. "I never saw Phil do this," Meyers continued. "Phil had a real 'I apologize' moment. There was a real like two decent men of honor [exchange]." Akiva Schaffer, another member of The Lonely Island, quipped, "Just two guys meeting at high noon, deciding not to fight," referencing the iconic Gary Cooper film High Noon. Whatever truce that Thornton and Hymes reached, it appears that Thornton got his way. Footage of Thornton's monologue from his time hosting the show on Nov. 17, 2001, makes it clear that Thornton did indeed wear a baseball cap during his monologue, in which he entertained questions from audience members imitating his Sling Blade appearance on season 27 of SNL remains his only outing on the show (not counting Samberg's impressions of him). Hymes was well-known for commenting on things he didn't like. He earned Lady Gaga's respect after commenting on her wardrobe and, in her words, "telling the truth," and he reportedly nearly caused Kanye West to walk off the show after a dispute about set pieces. ‘28 Years Later' $5.8M, ‘Elio' $3M Previews – Friday AM Box Office
UPDATED FRIDAY AM AFTER EXCLUSIVE: Sony's 28 Years Later gobbled up $5.8M in previews Thursday night. That's an excellent preview number for a horror movie, especially in these times, besting the Thursday nights of Final Destination Bloodlines ($5.5M), Sinners ($4.7M), pre-Covid's A Quiet Place ($4.3M) and even post-Covid's Scream VI ($5.7M). The question is whether moviegoers, like the undead themselves, will continue to run to 28 Years Later. Men over 25 showed up at 52% and gave the zombie third chapter its best grades at 75%. Women over 25 were next at 27% (72% grade), followed by women under 25 at 13% (65%) and men under 25 at 9% (74%). Meanwhile, Disney/Pixar's Elio in total Wednesday and Thursday previews did $3M. The animated feature is booked in 3,750 theatres including 725 premium large format screens, 2,500+ 3D Screens and 175 D-Box/Motion screens. Elio, 28 Years Later and How to Train Your Dragon are sharing the PLFs, while Imax auditoriums will be held by the latter title. Those who watched Elio, are loving it with a 60% definite recommend from the general audience and 4 1/2 stars. Kids under 12, a near even split between boys and girls at 51%/49%, also think it's 4 1/2 stars. Parents, mostly Dads yesterday at 56%, gave it 4 stars. With yesterday being Juneteenth, a young federal holiday, distribution sources are always mixed on whether it's a big moviegoing day or not. Kids are already off from school. Yeah, but adults are off from work. While not massive, the day did have a pulse, check it out: Eight of the movies in the top 10 saw spikes in their daily grosses over Wednesday including How to Train Your Dragon (+15%), Materialists (+7%), Lilo & Stitch (+16%), Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning (+22%), Ballerina (+10%), Phoenician Scheme (+6%), and The Life of Chuck (+3%). But don't start comping it yet to New Line's box office surprise sequel, Final Destination: Bloodlines which did $5.5M in previews for a franchise best opening of $51.6M. Horror films are frontloaded, duh. Rotten Tomatoes audiences are being pretty hard on this Danny Boyle zombie movie at 67% despite critics giving the installment the best reviews the 23-year old franchise has ever seen at 92%. Final Destination: Bloodlines earned both great reviews and audience exits on Rotten Tomatoes respectively with 92% and 87%. Previews began at noon for 28 Years Later. Tracking spotted this viral infected undead post-apocalyptic movie at an opening between $28M-$30M. The movie reps a return for Boyle as director and Alex Garland as screenwriter after 2002's 28 Days Later. That movie opened to $10M back in the day at 1,261 theaters, while 28 Weeks Later, which was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, opened to $9.8M back in 2007 at 2,303 theaters. Meanwhile, Disney/Pixar's Elio after two nights of previews is looking to be around $2.5M-$3M. That's the amount of preview cash that Pixar's summer 2023 movie, Elemental, banked before an $11.7M Friday and $29.6M opening. Elio is hoping to clear a 3-day between $20M-$25M. No RT audience scores yet, but critics enjoyed it at 86% certified fresh. Those reviews are stronger than Elemental at 73% fresh which wind up with an audience score of 93% and a solid A CinemaScore. As we mentioned, the best advertisement for Elio is the movie itself. In a marketplace where it's hard to launch original animation, the hope is that the Adrian Molina-Madeline Sharafian-Domee Shi directed movie pulls an Elemental and posts some wild multiple of 5x or more (that pic ended its stateside run at $154.4M). As we reported previously, Universal/DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon is expected to hold the fort at No. 1 with a second weekend of $40M-plus. Through Wednesday, the Dean DeBlois directed live action take of his animated movie is up to $113.7M.
