DTCP demolishes ten illegal colonies in Gurugram's Sohna block
Gurugram: A team of the District Town and Country Planning (DTCP) department conducted a demolition drive in Gurugram's Sohna block, where ten illegal colonies were being developed over an area of around 15 acres, the officials said on Thursday.
The district town planner (enforcement), along with its team, carried out a demolition drive in the area.
DTCP officials claimed that these colonies were being developed illegally in Alipur, Ghamroj, Bhondsi, and Sehjawas villages without prior permission from the concerned department.
During the drive, three illegal colonies were demolished in Alipur village. It was coming up over eight acres of land. During this, 7 boundary walls, an under-construction house, and a road network were demolished.
"The enforcement team also demolished plinths, the road network, boundary walls, and one upcoming structure in Ghamroj village spread over approximately five acres, and 20 boundary walls were also demolished," the officials said.
The team also demolished two houses and 20 boundary walls in the colony being developed in Sehjawas village.
The team also demolished one colony being developed in the Bhondsi area. The team demolished 7 under-construction houses, 50 boundary walls, and a road network.
Several policemen were present at the spot to deal with any untoward incident during the drive.
"The DTP department has given clear instructions to the Tehsildar concerned that registries should not be done in these colonies; if this is done, then action will be taken against the Tehsildar concerned," DTCP (enforcement) Manish Yadav told IANS.
'We also appealed to the people not to invest in these illegal colonies. These illegal colonies come under section 7A of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act. It is mandatory to take NOC from the Town and Country Planning Department before starting any activity," he said.

Nellore Municipal Corporation cracks whip on illegal layouts
Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials have initiated a special drive to remove illegal layouts and unauthorised constructions across the city. They demolished unauthorised constructions in four layouts, including Garden City Extension in Ambapuram, Sri Sai Brundavanam Smart City Phase A&B in Gudipallipadu, and Sri Sai Nagar Phase-I and II in the city. As part the drive, the officials of Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), Regional Deputy Director of Town and Country Planning (RDDTP), Urban Local Body (ULB) and Urban Development Authority (UDA) have been jointly conducting the raids at various layouts in the city. Based on the complaints received at the DTCP office, the NMC officials identified the illegal layout and started demolishing unauthorised constructions this week. According to Andhra Pradesh Layout Rules, 2017, NMC has issued guidelines to the Registrar and Electricity Department not to register such properties and provide them electricity. In a public notice, the NMC advised the property buyers not to purchase any plot in unauthorised layouts as the government will not give building permissions and other approvals for basic facilities such as drinking water and electricity. It also warned the builders and developers of stern action against illegal constructions under A.P. Municipal Corporation Act, 1955. NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan directed the planning secretaries to monitor the construction of new buildings within their ward secretariat limits and file chargesheets on those constructed in violation of building permissions. He suggested to personally serve court summons to the building owners of the illegal structures. Mr. Nandan further asked the secretaries to identify the unauthorised layouts at the construction stage itself and bring them to the notice of higher authorities. He directed them to respond to the building applications in their DPMS logins within 24 hours and take appropriate action, and also assured to resolve the issues received at the public grievance redressal platform within stipulated time.

Two Cong MLAs sentenced to jail for obstructing road in '14
1 2 3 4 Jaipur: A Jaipur court Tuesday sentenced two Congress MLAs, Mukesh Bhakar and Manish Yadav, along with seven others, to one-year simple imprisonment for blocking traffic outside Rajasthan University more than a decade ago. The demonstration, held on Aug 13, 2014, was part of an agitation against inclusion of Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) in the UPSC preliminary exam. It disrupted traffic on JLN Marg outside the university's main gate for about 20 minutes. Following the sentencing, the court suspended the sentence, giving them a month to appeal the decision. The court dismissed the defence's argument that the case was politically motivated, stating that the evidence clearly pointed to the involvement of all nine accused. During the trial, the prosecution presented four witnesses, all of whom were policemen. To support their statements, the prosecution also submitted documentary evidence. These included the site map of the incident, a copy of the daily diary entry, and a certified copy of the original FIR. Under Section 147 of IPC (rioting), each convict was sentenced to one year of simple imprisonment and fined Rs 3,000. If the fine is not paid, they will serve an additional month in jail. Under Section 283 of IPC (causing obstruction in a public way), they were each fined Rs 200, with the alternative of 15 days in jail if unpaid.

Two Congress MLAs jailed for blocking Jaipur road in 2014
A magistrate's court here sentenced two sitting Congress MLAs and seven others to one-year imprisonment on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) in an 11-year-old case of unlawful assembly and blocking of a public road outside the University of Rajasthan during a protest. The convicts also included an unsuccessful Congress candidate in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election. Congress MLAs Mukesh Bhakar, elected from Ladnun, and Manish Yadav, representing Shahpura, were among the student leaders who staged a protest and blocked Jawaharlal Nehru Marg outside the university's gate for about 20 minutes on August 13, 2014. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Parikshita Detha found them guilty after a protracted trial lasting 11 years. The two MLAs, who were then National Students' Union of India (NSUI) leaders, had gathered along with about 200 students at the university's gate to protest against the process followed for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to postgraduate courses. The State was ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party at the time. The nine were convicted under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced to one year's imprisonment each, along with a fine of ₹3,200 each. The Assembly membership of both Mr. Bhakar and Mr. Yadav will remain unaffected, as a legislator can be disqualified only on being convicted of an offence with a two-year sentence or more, as per Section 8(3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The Assembly membership of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kanwar Lal Meena was terminated last month after he was sentenced to three years in jail in a 20-year-old case for brandishing a revolver at a Sub-Divisional Magistrate. Baran district's Anta Assembly seat has fallen vacant after Meena's disqualification.
