A mum says her two young children were left "traumatised" after a cinema showed two horror film trailers before a screening of Lilo & Stitch. Jenny Ellice, 43, and husband Robert took their boys Max, four, and Bertie, five, to watch the remake of the classic kids' film at Cineworld in Enfield, London, last Saturday.
She paid £85 for the 4DX viewing which, according to Cineworld, provides "an extreme sensory experience" with a moving seat. Cinemas typically put on age-appropriate film trailers before the film itself.
But instead of showing other PG-rated films, films like Jurassic World Rebirth (PG-13), horror film Megan (PG-13) and a second horror film were shown. Whilst her boys were okay with the former, Jenny says the two horror trailers combined with the moving seats left Max and Robert "rigid with fear" and "terrified".
They left minutes later because her children were too scared to stay and watch Lilo & Stitch. Staff apologised for the mistake and offered free tickets, but Jenny says it doesn't go far enough. The TV journalist from Epping, Essex, said: "Max has been waking up screaming and Rob said to his teacher yesterday that he was scared from the cinema.
"But you just don't know with kids, they're like sponges, you think they're not listening, but they are. They were pretty graphic trailers. There was swearing and screaming in them - my eldest was rigid with fear. I had my hands over their eyes.
"I had no idea why they were showing these trailers for a U movie - these are four-year-olds exposed to graphic swearing and violence. They were terrified."

Jenny says it's "lucky" that they were the only ones in the 10:10 screening of the film. She added: "We were the only ones who went into the 4DX showing. We got popcorn and drinks, and they were so excited. They were all happy with their 3D glasses.
"The ads were on and then it goes into age-appropriate trailers for the film. The first one was Jurassic World, and I thought that seems a bit off, but I thought it could be a PG film like Lilo & Stitch. The seats move really violently and my boys like dinosaurs so it's fine.
"The next one was Megan, and I was sure that wasn't a PG - it got really graphic really quickly. It's like those Chuckie movies."
Jenny reached out to Cineworld on Instagram but was told after the offer of free tickets, her complaint couldn't go any further. She has now instructed her solicitors to take further action. She said: "Max hasn't even started school yet, with a big corporation this shouldn't be happening.
"If they had just put me in touch with someone from head officer then it would show they care. We have sent a letter from our solicitors who will likely be making a complaint to Enfield council and the film licensing/rating body. I want to ensure this never happens again as the cinema are not taking it seriously at all.
"Had the cinema had the decency to speak to me about it I probably wouldn't have taken legal action, but they have treated my complaint as more of an annoyance. Children at that age are like sponges and so impressionable, even just the noises of violence can leave a lasting impression and it's just not something two young children, especially one of pre-school age should ever be exposed to."

As reported by the Daily Star, Jonathan recalled: "When you're making a movie, you want to feel the world of the movie as much as possible." He went on to say that he worked on scenes in snake-infested waters for the project. He said: "And my gosh, do you feel it when you're up to your waist in snake-infested waters. You have snake wranglers around you who do make you feel safe, but they also say things like 'be careful around this one. If you get bit, you die in 10 seconds'." He expressed excitement over appearing in the franchise through, saying: "That kind of moment speaks to the visceral thrills that Jurassic movies are all about! I had never had that kind of experience on a set before. It was all very exciting and I hope it's matched by the film." Jonathan suggested that he didn't shy away from stunts whilst on location in Thailand. Describing one intense scene from the production, as reported by the outlet, he said that his "inner child" was "screaming with delight". He said: "We had to shoot a scene where my character must pull someone back into a boat because she's falling off the side. I had water cannons blasting me, the boat's flipping around, and my inner child, which isn't all that inner, was just screaming with delight." Jonathan stars as palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis in Jurassic World Rebirth, which is the seventh instalment in the long-running film franchise that previously starred Chris Pratt. He leads the cast with Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. Jonathan has shared that he relished the opportunity to play the character. He said about his role in Jurassic World Rebirth: "To play Henry, who embodies the love of nature and our best curiosities about it, was great fun." It's the latest high-profile role in Jonathan's career. In recent years, he's starred as Fiyero Tigelaar in Wicked (2024). He's set to reprise the role in sequel Wicked: For Good (2025), which is scheduled to be released in November. Jonathan is also known for playing Lord Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix series Bridgerton. The show launched on the streaming platform in 2020 and his character was the focus of the second season, which aired in 2022. He's teased that he's been a fan of Jurassic Park for years, having been introduced to the franchise as a child. 'They've asked her three times now!' laughs Jenny, who at 57 (and looking about 37!) is still a firm TV favourite, regularly popping up on everything from Loose Women to presenting at this summer's Rewind Festival. Jenny, who lives in South Manchester with fiancé Martin Lowe, 51, and their youngest daughter Pollyanna, 16, says she's secretly relieved Connie has no interest in reality fame. 'I was on Loose Women and all of a sudden I got a call,' she said. 'It was during lockdown and she was at uni. She was like, I'm at UCL studying Art History, I don't think I'm up for doing that! I think it's quite cool that she's turned it down three times! I quite like it. If we ever meet someone famous they are not impressed at all. They're not bothered.' While plenty of 20-somethings would jump at the chance for sun, scandal and a six-figure influencer deal, Jenny says Connie is cut from a different cloth entirely - and so is her youngest, Pollyanna. 'Connie posts on Instagram about once a year. Do you know what I mean? She's not that person. And therefore I don't think she would even realise the pressure and the attention she'd get. I think I'd worry for her.' Jenny says she's proud Connie didn't get swept up in the showbiz circus, and reckons her grounded attitude comes from a solid upbringing - and the knock-on effects of a tough few years during the pandemic. 'I just think we don't realise in this day and age, even though all these young people, they've got this facade, they're all so confident and look a certain way and all that stuff. But actually, I think there is a huge fragility in these past couple of generations, especially ones that have been through shit through COVID.' 'I mean, you know, for her, she got a degree on her own, sitting in a room. Those amazing uni years at UCL, which is up there with Oxford, and UCL's major. She's got three A stars. Connie worked at Maddox Galleries in Mayfair.' 'Now, she decided she's done enough there. Then she's gone to Knight Frank, shares a flat with her friend from Manchester. She's got a lovely boyfriend. She's very old school. Old soul. They both are. I think it will help them through these times, because they're not great times.' While Connie is not the only daughter of a famous British celebrity to be associated with the show, Princess Andre, 18, was also rumoured to be entering the villa but dad, Peter, quickly turned down those rumours. In his exclusive weekly column about the rumours that eldest daughter Princess, who just turned 18, could be signing up to Love Island - he admits that he doesn't know where the rumours came from, and says at 17 she can't legally apply yet anyway. He says: "There's been a lot of talk about Princess going on Love Island, and I don't know where it came from. She's not 18 yet, so it's not even an option." He adds that, though he would support her if she wanted to sign up to the ITV2 show, it's not something he'd ever choose for her. "Whether she chooses to do it in the future is up to her, but of course it's every dad's nightmare. Then again, I look at people like Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, and others, and see how happy they were in their relationships that came from the show. EXCLUSIVE: Jenny Powell has been a fixture on our screens for more than three decades - and she's barely aged a day and now the TV star tells us how she keeps looking so youthful Jenny Powell is the TV face that simply does not age — and now she's finally lifted the lid on exactly how she keeps looking so fresh-faced at 57 (only just!), from high-tech blood treatments to the teen daughter who keeps her feeling twenty years younger. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, the presenter - who first won hearts on Wheel of Fortune and is now hosting the Rewind Festival - laughs off her reputation as Britain's forever-youthful TV darling. 'People always say to me: 'Oh my God, you haven't aged!'' Jenny giggles. 'I go to a few people for remedies and treatments, and I said to one of them, what should I tell people? He said, 'Well, some of it's your genes, Jenny — but you do look after yourself!' And I suppose I do.' Yoga, a sprinkle of magic vitamins — and a bit of 21st century science, too. Jenny, who lives in South Manchester with fiancé Martin Lowe, 51, and their youngest daughter Pollyanna, 16, says it's a mix of ancient and cutting-edge secrets keeping her glowing. 'I do hot yoga about three times a week and I've just started Reformer too — it really keeps my mind and body in shape,' she says. 'I don't drink much, but I'm taking NAD now — I love it! It basically regenerates your cells after your 40s. I have it intravenously, which is pricey, about £300 a pop, but you feel amazing after. Then you switch to supplements to keep it up. It's fascinating stuff!' And the ultimate fountain of youth? Her teenage daughter Pollyanna. 'My kids keep me young. I've got a 24-year-old, but I had Pollyanna when I was like 40, 41. So I've still got a 16-year-old at 57. I have to keep up with her for a start! So I think it's just a combo of that. Just looking after yourself. Yoga's amazing for me." But behind the glam facade, Jenny admits it hasn't all been plain sailing. Last year, she made headlines when she spoke candidly about her life-changing hysterectomy - an Instagram post about it racked up a whopping two and a half million views in just 24 hours, sparking a wave of support. 'It was awful,' she says honestly. 'Yeah, it was awful. I had really bad symptoms, which I'd put up with for a very long time, like flooding terribly, like really badly. And migraines. I had backache. I had pelvic congestion, basically, because my uterus was the size of being 14 to 16 weeks pregnant. So it was enlarged. And it had fibroids and I had adenomyosis*(corr), which I didn't even know existed, which is sort of on the outer lining of your uterus." Adenomyosis is a condition where the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrium) grows into the muscular wall of the uterus (myometrium). This misplaced tissue continues to behave like normal uterine lining, thickening and bleeding during each menstrual cycle, which can cause heavy, painful periods, and pelvic pain. Today, mental health is top of her list - alongside making time for Martin, who she describes as her rock. 'He's so kind. And I think you're very conscious when you've got kids already. I mean, he hasn't got any kids. I think you're very conscious about who's going to come into the house and the home and get to know your family. 'You're very, very cautious. And he just adores the girls and he always has, Polly was two, three years old when we met and she's now 16. Polly was, she's 24 and she was like nine. I think it's his kindness I fell for. He can't help himself. He just thinks he can fix everyone. He's one of those. And of course, he is gorgeous!" Jenny has learned to prioritise herself as well as her loved ones - and she hopes other women will too. 'If your thoughts get the better of you first thing in the morning, you've had it for the rest of the day. So it's really having your own little mantras or something to the minute you wake up, you set your mindset in the right place. 'So, you know, even if it's singing your favourite song first thing when you wake up, putting frequencies on or repeating something three times, whatever it is that uplifts you, do it. Do it. Don't go on your bloody phone!" As she gears up to take the mic at this summer's Rewind Festival - and maybe even tackle the Strictly ballroom one day if bosses come calling again — Jenny says she's in no rush to slow down even as she turns 60 in three years. "I'm going to own it. Will I still be in a bikini, that's the question! Of course I will be! I think I'll still be in a bikini in my 60s, but if I'm not, I'm just trying to think why I wouldn't be! That's what we're trying to inspire women to do. It doesn't matter what people say, well, it's what is right for you. As long as I can do some yoga on the beach somewhere, I'll be happy," she beams.
