1 hurt in shooting on I-85, MEDIC says
One person is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a shooting near the Mecklenburg-Gaston County line Tuesday morning, MEDIC said.
Police responded to the scene near a weigh station on the southbound side of Interstate 85 around 6:45 a.m.
A truck was seen on the scene with both front windows shattered.
There is no word on the cause of the shooting or a suspect.

Bulls, White Sox owner to be deposed for lawsuit after fan was shot
Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf will be deposed in a lawsuit stemming from a shooting during a White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field in August 2023, a Cook County judge ordered Friday, per multiple reports. The shooting has been shrouded in mystery nearly two years later. A 42-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 26-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the abdomen and refused medical attention. The 42-year-old woman filed a lawsuit in 2024, accusing the team of "negligence and recklessness." Videos posted to X at the time showed some panicked patrons running away from the stadium. Others were awaiting a Vanilla Ice concert at the end of the game that ended up being canceled because of "technical issues," according to a message on the scoreboard. "Due to technical issues, tonight's postgame concert has been canceled," the message read in part. "We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding." It was unclear how a weapon was able to get into the stadium in the first place. The ballpark doesn't allow for any type of weapon to be brought into the facility. "Weapons of any type, including pepper spray. It is illegal for anyone to enter or attempt to enter the ballpark with a firearm, regardless of permit," according to the park's rules. A fan previously told FOX 32 Chicago he went through a metal detector to get into the stadium. The shooting didn't stop the game from carrying on, however, as the White Sox lost to the Athletics 12-4. Cops hunt perv who tried to kiss woman's feet in Manhattan subway station
Police released photos Friday evening of a man wanted for public lewdness after trying to kiss a woman's feet without her consent and performing a 'lewd act' in front of her at a subway station in downtown Manhattan, cops said. The 30-year-old straphanger had just exited an eastbound L train at the 14th St.-Sixth Ave. subway station in Manhattan when the unidentified man, who had also just gotten off the same train, tried to strike up a conversation with her while she was waiting for another train in the station around 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to police. When she rebuffed him, he tried to kiss her feet and 'performed a lewd act' in front of her, before hopping on a westbound L train to parts unknown. The man, who had a light complexion, was last seen wearing a burgundy sweatsuit and tan work boots, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

North Carolina woman sues former employer over Chucky doll prank she claims gave her PTSD
A former bank employee has filed a lawsuit against Truist Bank alleging discrimination and retaliation after she said a prank involving the doll Chucky exacerbated her anxiety disorder, according to several reports. Debra Jones claims in the lawsuit that despite knowing she had a fear of dolls, her manager placed a Chucky doll, "the doll that kills people," on her chair in her office, the New York Post reported. Jones claimed in the lawsuit that after the incident she was diagnosed with PTSD, saying she had shared her fear of dolls with her manager at a company cookout and that it affected her disabilities, which include generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder and the autoimmune disorder vitiligo, WRAL-TV reported. Jones claimed she was treated differently when she returned to work last year following two months of medical leave, accusing the bank of retaliating against her for needing to leave at 3 p.m. to treat her autoimmune disorder. After Jones returned to a new office and new manager she was "subjected to discrimination and retaliation based on her being a qualified individual with disabilities," according to the complaint. Her supervisors claimed that her coworkers "also needed time off," the lawsuit said, according to the station. Jones was let go in March after a manager told her she couldn't keep using her disabilities as an excuse, the lawsuit claimed, People magazine reported. Chucky comes from the 1988 horror movie "Child's Play," in which a dead serial killer inhabits a boy's doll and kills people. The lawsuit, filed in North Carolina in May, claims the bank violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and Jones is seeking compensatory damages. Fox News Digital has reached out to Truist Bank for comment.
