
Yoga Day at NMPA with week-long activities
Mangaluru: The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) will observe the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with a series of yoga-themed programmes under the banner 'Yoga Sangam – 2025.' A mass yoga practice session, involving port officers, employees, and their families, will be held at the BDC Building Hall. The event will be inaugurated by Dr A.V. Ramana, Chairman of NMPA. In the lead-up to the main event on June 21, the port has already conducted a range of wellness activities across its departments. These include Y-Break yoga sessions during work hours, regular morning and evening yoga routines, and a special workshop on Yogic Lifestyle and Relaxation Techniques. The initiatives have seen enthusiastic participation from staff, reflecting growing interest in adopting yoga for physical and mental well-being.
As part of its outreach efforts, NMPA also extended yoga sessions to vessel crews onboard ships and held tailored sessions for school and college students in the region. By integrating yoga into workplace routines and community programmes, the Port Authority aims to foster a culture of holistic health and well-being among its employees and the larger port community.

Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts led by Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot and Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao participated in a mass yoga demonstration to mark the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21. The event, organised by the AYUSH Ministry on the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', was part of a nationwide 'Yoga Sangam' initiative. Organised by the Karnataka AYUSH Department in collaboration with yoga associations, civil society groups, and wellness organisations, the celebration in Bengaluru was one of the largest yoga gatherings in Karnataka. Inaugurating the event, the Governor emphasised the importance of yoga as a unifying force and a path to holistic health. He participated in various yoga asanas along with the Health Minister and other dignitaries, inspiring the public to inculcate a healthy lifestyle. Yoga at NIMHANS The Department of Integrative Medicine at NIMHANS, organised yoga sessions dedicated to promoting mental well-being through yoga. This year's celebration featured a unique initiative titled 'Yoga Samavesha – A Yoga-based Mental Health Initiative for Older Adults', supported by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), Union Ministry of AYUSH. Aimed at bringing attention to the mental health needs of senior citizens and older adults, particularly those residing in old age homes across Bengaluru, this programme witnessed participation by groups of senior citizens from across Bengaluru. The session was specially designed and tailored to support their mental health, emotional balance, and physical vitality, doctors said. Separate mass yoga sessions were organised for staff and students at Gymkhana ground, and for patients at Ashwini Hall in NIMHANS. Elsewhere in the city, Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra led a yoga session with party workers at the office of the BJP.

International Yoga Day: Haryana CM announces 5-min yoga break in govt offices
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced that a five-minute yoga break programme will be launched in all government offices and a hall will be constructed for the International Meditation Centre in Shri Krishna Ayush University. Saini was addressing a gathering at a state level programme organised on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) at the Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra. "Yoga is just not a form of exercise but also an important science to live healthy," he said. On this occasion, Saini said to promote research in yoga, a 'Yoga Lekhak Protsahan Yojana' will be started under which, excellent writers will be honoured every year. He also said that yoga courses will be introduced in colleges and universities of the state and 40 yoga trainers will be recruited in Haryana's sports department.

The Indian Army personnel celebrated International Yoga Day across the Himalayas, turning the harshest terrains into sanctuaries of mindfulness and wellness. Demonstrating extraordinary resolve and spiritual resilience, army personnel practiced yoga amidst the icy vastness at Shahi Kangri Lake, nestled at a staggering 20,000 feet. Indian Army soldiers performed yoga at high altitudes at Himalayas amid extreme weather conditions, highlighting the spirit of discipline and wellness.(PTI) "Amidst the icy expanse of Shahi Kangri Lake at 20,000 feet, Indian Army marked the International Yoga Day 2025 with unwavering resolve and inner still. In a place where every breath is a challenge, soldiers embraced the timeless discipline of yoga, a source of strength, clarity, and resilience enhancing mental focus, emotional balance and physical endurance even in the harshest of conditions," posted Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army on X. Army jawans embraced yoga as a practice of endurance and unity, reinforcing both physical fitness and mental fortitude at the iconic Galwan Valley (15,000 feet). The stage is set for the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) to be celebrated with grandeur on June 21, with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the national event from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The theme for this year is "Yoga for One Earth, One Health" echoes India's vision of global wellness. The theme reflects the integrated vision of well-being.
