New Mangalore Port inaugurates Yoga Park
The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) opened a Yoga Park as a part of the International Day of Yoga at the port premises on Saturday, June 21, in Mangaluru. NMP Mahila Samaj president Sushma Akkaraju inaugurated the park in the presence of Port Authority Chairman A.V. Ramana and other senior officers. Developed to promote health and wellness within the port community, the park features a dedicated walking track and a spacious open area for Yoga, providing a peaceful environment for daily practice. All participants enthusiastically performed yoga as per the Common Yoga Protocol under the 'Yoga Sangam' initiative. To build awareness and enthusiasm ahead of the main event, NMPA had already conducted a week-long range of wellness activities in the port and nearby educational institutions. These included Y-Break Yoga sessions for employees, daily morning and evening yoga routines for employees and students, a special session on Yogic Lifestyle and Relaxation Techniques etc. Earlier in the day, the Yoga Day was celebrated in the port premises, attended among others by Mr. Ramana, deputy chairperson S. Shanthi, chief vigilance officer K. Padmanabhachar, senior officers, employees, staff and students. Mr. Ramana highlighted the transformative power of Yoga in aligning body, mind and spirit. Quoting ancient wisdom, he described Yoga as a journey of the self, through the self, to the self. He urged all employees to make Yoga a daily practice, not just for personal well-being, but as a step towards building a healthier, stronger, and more vibrant India. Konkan Railway Konkan Railway Corporation Limited joined the nation in celebrating the 11th International Day of Yoga by holding a special yoga session at Konkan Rail Vihar, Nerul, in collaboration with Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir. Executives and staff, along with their families, participated in the event. The session highlighted the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for overall physical and mental well-being as conveyed by KRCL Chairman and Managing Director Santosh Kumar Jha. Similar events were also organised in the Ratnagiri and Karwar regions.

Bhopal: On the eve of World Yoga Day , chief minister Mohan Yadav made a fervent appeal to the people of the state to practice Yoga for a healthy body and mind. In a blog, he stated that Yoga is a divine state where individual consciousness unites with the supreme consciousness. Irrespective of religion, caste, or creed, every person has the opportunity to attain this divine state through Yoga. It is a precious gift of India to humanity, he said. Yadav further mentioned that it was the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that led the United Nations General Assembly to declare 21 June as International Yoga Day. With this, he ushered in a new era of comprehensive health awareness across the globe, focusing more on prevention rather than cure. We are now celebrating the 11th International Yoga Day, which is dedicated to the theme: "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." The aim is to highlight the interrelationship between human well-being and the health of our planet. Yoga Day at NMPA with week-long activities
Mangaluru: The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) will observe the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with a series of yoga-themed programmes under the banner 'Yoga Sangam – 2025.' A mass yoga practice session, involving port officers, employees, and their families, will be held at the BDC Building Hall. The event will be inaugurated by Dr A.V. Ramana, Chairman of NMPA. In the lead-up to the main event on June 21, the port has already conducted a range of wellness activities across its departments. These include Y-Break yoga sessions during work hours, regular morning and evening yoga routines, and a special workshop on Yogic Lifestyle and Relaxation Techniques. The initiatives have seen enthusiastic participation from staff, reflecting growing interest in adopting yoga for physical and mental well-being. As part of its outreach efforts, NMPA also extended yoga sessions to vessel crews onboard ships and held tailored sessions for school and college students in the region. By integrating yoga into workplace routines and community programmes, the Port Authority aims to foster a culture of holistic health and well-being among its employees and the larger port community.

This helps release tension in the side body, ribcage, and lungs—often constricted during long desk sessions. 3. Neck and Shoulder Rolls Gently roll the shoulders backward and forward in slow circles. Follow this with neck half-moons—chin to chest and side-to-side movements—synchronized with the breath or paired with Bhramari Pranayama to relax tension stored in the upper back, jaw, and neck. 4. Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana) Balance your nervous system and bring clarity with this calming Pranayama technique. Use your right thumb and ring finger to alternate breath between nostrils, inhaling and exhaling through one side at a time. Even 2–3 minutes can reduce anxiety and support heart rate regulation. 5. Seated Twist with Breath Awareness Sit tall with both feet flat on the floor. On an inhale, lengthen your spine. On the exhale, twist gently to one side, using the chair backrest or arm for support. Repeat on the other side. Twists aid digestion, reduce fatigue, and stimulate the spinal nerves. 6. Bhramari (Humming Bee Breath) A deeply calming breathing technique, Bhramari involves gently closing the eyes, placing the fingers lightly on the face or ears, and humming on each exhalation. It soothes the nervous system, lowers blood pressure, and improves focus.
