For sure – Marcus Rashford would relish playing with Lamine Yamal at Barcelona
Rashford, 27, signed a five-year contract with Manchester United in 2023, but spent the second half of the recently concluded Premier League campaign on loan at Aston Villa and his future under Ruben Amorim – who had left him out of several squads – remains uncertain.
The forward opened up about his ambitions in an interview with Spanish influencer Javi Ruiz which was shared by BBC Sport.
Asked if he would like to be team-mates with Barca's 17-year-old scoring sensation Yamal, Rashford said: 'Yes, for sure. Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully… we'll see.'
Barcelona sporting director Deco in May told Catalan radio station RAC1 that the club 'like' Rashford.
Rashford added: 'It's difficult to put into words what (Yamal) is doing because he's not supposed to be doing that at 16 or 17. I don't think we've seen that before.'

Carlos Alcaraz regains his Queen's crown after beating Jiri Lehecka in final
The Spanish top seed replicated his debut triumph on the grass courts of west London in 2023 with a 7-5 6-7 (5) 6-2 victory. It was an 18th-straight match win for Alcaraz – in his fifth consecutive final – following his title successes in Rome and at the French Open. VAMOS KING CARLOS!! 🏆❤️🔥 The incredible @carlosalcaraz wins the #HSBCChampionships title @QueensTennis | @atptour — LTA (@the_LTA) June 22, 2025 World number 30 Lehecka had knocked out home hope Jack Draper on Saturday to become the first Czech finalist since Ivan Lendl won the title in 1990. The 23-year-old played his part in a high-quality final with some huge serves and powerful groundstrokes, forcing the match to a decider via a tie-break. But Alcaraz, the defending Wimbledon champion, did not face a single break point and slammed down 18 aces on his way to a 21st career title, proving he will be the man to beat at SW19 again with a stylish win in two hours and eight minutes. 'It's really special, this trophy and this tournament. I'm happy to lift this trophy once again,' he said. 'Jiri, you had an incredible week and it's a nightmare to play against you. Great week, great job and keep it up for Wimbledon. 'It has been an incredible week. I came without expectations and just wanted to play good tennis and to get used to the grass.' Alcaraz got a first look at a break point at 2-2, but he barely saw the 138mph ace that snuffed it out. At 4-5 the 22-year-old was in a spot of bother, serving at 0-30, but with a quick squeeze of the accelerator he reeled off eight of the next 10 points to hold and then grab the crucial break. Alcaraz had dropped just 10 points on serve before the second-set tie-break but he suddenly dropped his guard, with an untimely double fault and a pair of Lehecka aces taking the match the distance. But Lehecka dipped in the third with Alcaraz breaking for 3-1, and before long a flashing forehand brought up two championship points, the world number two taking the first and roaring with delight at a second Queen's title.

Ben Doak teases injury comeback as Scotland hero starts pre-season early ahead to impress Liverpool boss Arne Slot
Doak endured a torrid second half of last season on the sidelines with a hamstring problem It's been a difficult year so far for Ben Doak - but the Scotland hotshot looks to be gearing up for a return to action this summer. The former Celtic kid was in the midst of a successful loan spell at Middlesbrough last season until a hamstring injury suffered at the end of January ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign. It came just days after parent club Liverpool had knocked back reported bids worth £15million from Crystal Palace for the pacey winger, who burst onto the Scotland scene in style last year in Nations League A. Doak infamously picked up an injury in the lead-up to Euro 2024 that saw him miss the finals in Germany and his absence was certainly felt during the Nations League relegation play-off defeat to Greece back in March that saw Steve Clarke's drop from the competition's top tier. But in a video shared on social media, the 19-year-old has started his pre-season early in order to try and hit the ground running on his return to the Premier League champions next month, where he will be hoping to impress Anfield boss Arne Slot. In the short clip, Doak can be seen taking a shot at goal during an Empire Performance Elite session out in Portugal alongside fellow young Scottish hopefuls Dylan Reid and Charlie McArthur. Doak has made 12 first team appearances for Liverpool since making the move from Parkhead in 2022 but his long-term future in the red half of Merseyside remains unclear. As well as interest from Palace in the winter window, Doak was also sensationally linked with city rivals Everton earlier this year, with compatriot David Moyes now back in the hot seat at the new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium. Where Doak to make a shock switch to the other side of the Merseyside divide, then he would be the first player to do in 33 years. While several players including Rangers target Conor Coady and England hero Peter Beardsley turned out for both clubs during their careers, the last player to directly transfer from Liverpool to Everton was the late Gary Ablett back in 1992. However, Doak has been handed a potential reprieve at Anfield. Italy international Federico Chiesa is expected to leave the Reds this summer after just one season in the north-east of England, where his game time has been very limited. A return to Serie A could be on the cards for the winger, which in turn could improve Doak's chances of getting some minutes under Slot next season. Liverpool are splashing the cash as they gear up for the defence of their title and smashed their transfer record to land Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz for £116million last week.

Chelsea signing Essugo reveals Amorim influence
Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo has revealed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim influenced his career as he looks to emulate N'Golo Kante, Michael Essien and Claude Makelele at Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old made his debut in the Club World Cup win over Los Angeles FC and is set for a role in Enzo Maresca's squad following his £18.5m move from made his debut in Portugal aged just 16 and six days old, becoming the youngest player to play for Sporting, while also becoming the youngest Portuguese player to play in the Champions League that same season. He cited his then-Sporting manager Amorim among his influences: "I made one training session with the first team and the coach liked what he saw and he called me to play."He brought me to the first team so he helped me a lot, to understand the game, to reach the level I am here now. I am grateful. He is so demanding. He is a demanding person. He likes to win every time."Chelsea's reason for signing Essugo is to reduce the workload on star midfielder Moises Caicedo and when asked about comparisons to the Ecuadorian, he continued: "Of course it is good when they compare you with a very big player but it is a mix of both because I want to go my own way to reach the top."Essugo was produced by Sporting's famed academy, which also brought through Cristiano Ronaldo, and he cited a number of Sporting midfielders, past and present, as influences. "Manuel Ugarte, Joao Palhinha and Morten Hjulmand were three big players I had the opportunity to learn from. Palhinha is so strong defensively and then Ugarte can play good too. So I learned."But Essugo also looks up to famous figures from Chelsea's history. "I want to make my own way but I also like to see Makelele, Essien and Kante, to follow their steps. I'm a defensive midfielder but I can also go forward and play box to box," he added.
