The San Antonio Spurs currently hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. They seem comfortable with keeping the pick, likely targeting Rutgers standout Dylan Harper, but trade rumors have been surrounding the franchise.
Kevin Durant has been a popular name linked to the Spurs in the rumor mill.
It has been reported that San Antonio is one of the teams Durant would like to be traded to. He clearly has interest in playing alongside of Victor Wembanyama. That pairing could put the Spurs on the map as a possible contender in the Western Conference.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix believes that Jaylen Brown would be a perfect fit for San Antonio. However, in order to get Brown, the Spurs would have to offer a very aggressive trade package.
"Jaylen Brown is interesting," Mannix said. "If he's in play, that's someone I think San Antonio will look at and will go after."
Mannix continued forward, revealing more of his thoughts about San Antonio and Brown being an ideal fit.
"That's someone, I think if you're the Spurs, you're willing to give up the No. 2 overall pick," he said. "Jaylen Brown — if he's available, again, we don't know if he's available yet, but if he's available — I would expect San Antonio to be among the teams to make a run at him."
Brown would be a much better target than Durant if the Spurs were going to trade the No. 2 pick. He would be a long-term addition and is just 28 years old.
During the 2024-25 NBA season with Boston, Brown played in 63 games. He averaged 22.2 points per game to go along with 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals, while shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 32.4 percent from three-point range.

While his shooting numbers were down, Brown was dealing with a partially torn meniscus in his right knee through some parts of the season.
It's possible that San Antonio will just stick at No. 2 and bring in Harper or another high-level rookie. There is no rush for the Spurs, as they have a long window open with Wembanyama leading the charge.
Expect to hear San Antonio continually mentioned in trade rumors. Brown is an intriguing option, but there is no guarantee that the Celtics will make him available or that the Spurs would have interest in trading for him.

Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton Opens Up on Calf Injury Before NBA Finals Game 7
Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton Opens Up on Calf Injury Before NBA Finals Game 7 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton entered the team's first elimination game of these NBA Finals at home at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as a great question mark. He had injured his calf in Game 5, and did not look healthy in closing out that game, walking with a notable limp. Advertisement The question going into the win-or-go-home Game 6 for Indiana was two-fold: Would Haliburton play, and if so, would he be effective? We learned early on Thursday that the intention was that Haliburton would be on the floor. And we learned early in the game that he would, indeed, be effective. Haliburton led the Pacers to a laugher in the game, a 108-91 win that will now send the series to a Game 7 finale. Haliburton had 14 points and five assists, but was a plus-25 on the floor, as his presence was what really mattered for Indiana. After the game, he explained what went into him playing in Game 6--and what he'll carry into Game 7, injury-wise. These are guys that I'm willing to go to war with and we've had such a special year, and we have a special bond as a group, and you know, I think I'd beat myself up if I didn't give it a chance," he said. Advertisement "I just want to be out there and fight and just had to have an honest conversation with coach (Rick Carlisle) that, you know, if I didn't look like myself and was hurting the team, like sit me down. Obviously, I want to be on the floor. But I want to win more than anything. So had an honest conversation with coach. But yeah, I want to be on the floor, and if I have the ability to, if I can -- like I said, if I can walk, I want to be out there." He will get one more chance to be out there for the Pacers. That will come Sunday in Oklahoma City for the finale. He said he knows the key for the Pacers will be putting Game 6 behind them and moving on. "Celebrate this one tonight and move on. It's done with. We did our job to take care of home court, and we have to be ready to compete in Game 7," he said. Udonis Haslem Picks Winner of NBA Finals Without Hesitation
Udonis Haslem Picks Winner of NBA Finals Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers picked up a massive 108-91 victory in Game 6 of the 2025 NBA Finals over the Oklahoma City Thunder, forcing the NBA's first Game 7 in the Finals since 2016. Advertisement Indiana's star duo of Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam will be looking to cap off one of the greatest postseason runs in NBA history with a championship win. The Pacers' undying grit and overwhelming determination has pushed the group this far, and they'll now have a chance to take home the franchise's first-ever NBA title. With plenty in the broader NBA sphere still predicting the Thunder to claim the Larry O'Brien trophy by the conclusion of Game 7, a former Miami Heat legend and 3-time NBA champion has vocalized his decision to back Indiana. Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem (40) reacts after entering the game during the first quarter at the Kaseya Navarro-USA TODAY Sports "I think Indiana believe that they can win this championship, regardless of what anybody else thinks," Udonis Haslem shared during a Friday morning appearance on ESPN's Get Up. Advertisement "I've been in locker rooms where we listened to the chatter of the media where they say, 'that team doesn't have a chance,' and, 'this team should be up,' and 'this series should be over.' I've been in those locker rooms. They've been using that as gasoline." As a former 20-year veteran with plenty of NBA Finals experience, Haslem argued that Indiana's camaraderie and teamwork will push them over the top. "The power of the brotherhood has brought this team leadership, the coaching, the brotherhood, the connection." "No, they do not have a superstar, but everybody on that team stars in their role. I believe in this team, I am a believer." Advertisement The Pacers will be facing a Thunder group that won 68 games in the regular season for a Game 7 in front of their raucous fans. As an added kicker, the reigning MVP of the league, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, stands in their path. Still, Haslem has supreme confidence in the Pacers because of their reputation for silencing doubt while playing fast-paced, team-oriented basketball. The Heat have taken a trip to the Finals seven different times in the Haslem-era, and he's served as both an integral defensive force and wise veteran presence throughout his career. With an NBA championship on the line, Haslem is sticking with the underdog Pacers prior to Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. WNBA Star Sends Clear Caitlin Clark Message After Fever Loss
WNBA Star Sends Clear Caitlin Clark Message After Fever Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's no question that Coach Natalie Nakase and her staff had a plan, and they stuck to it Thursday night. In what could be considered the biggest win in franchise history, the Golden State Valkyries defeated the Indiana Fever 88-77 at home. Advertisement The win snapped Indiana's two-game winning streak and moved Golden State to 6-6 on the season, placing them fourth in the Western Conference standings. Defensively, the Valkyries were locked in from the start. They held Indiana star Caitlin Clark to just 11 points on 3-for-14 shooting while keeping her under pressure all night. After the game, the Moreau Sports Media Production Company caught a key quote from the Valkyries' guard Tiffany Hayes on the team's strategy against Clark: "We just followed the gameplan, coach gave us a great plan…we know she (CC) is a 3-level scorer…we knew it was a great team effort today…. A great team defensive win." Hayes came off the bench and was one of five Valkyries to score in double figures. The veteran guard, who played her college ball at UConn, logged a team-high 32 minutes. Advertisement Kayla Thornton led Golden State with 16 points, followed by Chloe Bibby with 12, Veronica Burton with 11 and Laeticia Amihere with 10. Golden State Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes© Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images Nakase continues to make history. She became the first head coach in the Valkyries franchise history and was also the first Asian-American head coach in WNBA history when she debuted. A former 5-foot-1 walk-on guard at UCLA, her journey has been anything but ordinary. Golden State will stay home for the second of five straight home games. It will host the Connecticut Sun on Sunday before hitting the road again on July 5 in Minnesota. As for Indiana, they also sit at 6-6. The Fever will stay on the road, facing the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday and the Seattle Storm on Tuesday.
