Gaelic group announce highly-anticipated second album
GAELIC vocal group Sian have announced their highly-anticipated second album, araon.
Originally brought together by the Blas festival in 2016, to celebrate the work of female bards, Sian comprises three of today's most exquisitely gifted Gaelic singers – Ceitlin Lilidh, Eilidh Cormack and Ellen MacDonald – accompanied by in-demand multi-instrumentalist Innes White.
With direct connections among the singers to Lewis, Skye and North Uist, their arrangements match deep feeling for tradition with stunning, boldly imaginative harmony work, which has seen them likened to The Staves and even Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
The first single from the album, Seo a' Bhliadhna, was released on Friday – a traditional lament with connections to the Isle of Skye and Raasay, and particularly the MacLean family.

Seo a' Bhliadhna features guest musicians James Lindsay and Charlie Stewart.
The album is produced by Sian's Innes White and Innes Strachan (Niteworks, LUSA), and was recorded and mixed by Iain Hutchison at GloWorm Recording. The release date for the full album is yet to be announced.
Cormack said: 'Seo a' Bhliadhna is a beautiful lament, closely connected to the Isle of Skye and Raasay song tradition.
'The composer tells of love and loss in a terrible year – grieving not only her brother and sister, but the man she loves, the golden-haired hunter.
'We wanted to approach the song with respect and care, and I hope listeners can feel that in the arrangement.'
MacDonald added: 'The reason I love Sian so much is that you can do so much with just voices.
'You can come up with really cool sounds with just voices.'
Ahead of the album release, Sian will tour Scotland throughout this month, performing new material live for the first time.
The tour begins tomorrow night in Arisaig's Astley Hall.
Tour dates: June 2, Arisaig, Astley Hall; June 3, Inverness, Eden Court; June 4, Isle of Skye, An Crùbh; June 5, Isle of Raasay, Isle of Raasay Distillery; June 6, Glasgow, The Reeling; June 11, Edinburgh, Traverse Theatre.

Find out who owned this gramophone on display at city museum
THIS gramophone is featured in the recently-opened Your Worcester exhibition at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum. It is an example of the beautiful HMV 157 (His Master's Voice), manufactured between 1927 and 1939, made of oak with a wind-up turntable. Its large swan neck tone-arm picks up information from the record via the needle and amplifies it through the horn-like soundbox in the body. But this gramophone has a much greater association with music than simply being able to play records. More: Meet the woman who creates dazzling window displays in city More: Pictures: All the business award winners from two counties More: Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Worcester theatre It was once owned by Sir Edward Elgar and given as a gift to the family that inspired one of his greatest works. The Pomp and Circumstance Marches are quite possibly his most recognisable works, well known as the melody for Land of Hope and Glory and used to evoke patriotism and national pride. The Enigma Variations led to his international fame. These incredible pieces captured the raw emotions he felt towards friends and places. They demonstrate Elgar's great gift of encapsulating human feelings in music. Enigma Variation VIII is dedicated to Winifred Norbury, of Worcester Philharmonic Society, and was inspired by both her and the beautiful house in which she lived with her sister Florence. It was to Florence Norbury that Elgar gifted this gramophone and some of his records in 1931. In 1942 the gramophone was re-gifted by Sir Edward's daughter Carice Elgar and ultimately donated to the Worcestershire County collection with supporting letters. It remains an incredible link to the composer but also to friends and places he forever immortalised in music. See Elgar's gramophone at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum. Your Worcester is free to visit, open from 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Saturday, and 10am-3pm on Sunday. It is closed on Mondays and bank holidays.

Chris Martin's Emotional Moment During This Song May Show How He's Handling the Dakota Johnson Split
Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin's breakup has been on everyone's minds since the news broke. While we're still devastated at the end of one of our favorite celebrity couples, it seems we may not be the only ones. In a recent clip of Martin performing, he's gotten fans misty-eyed, and so many are now wondering how the breakup has affected him. On June 19, the popular X account PopTingz shared a video from Coldplay's latest gig. They shared the video of Martin with the caption reading, 'During 'Sparks,' Chris Martin gets emotional, adding 'yes I will' after 'I won't let you down.'' More from SheKnows Chris Martin Just Wore a Telling Accessory Amid First Outing Since Dakota Johnson Split You can see the video HERE! Now, first things first: he didn't add anything. Per Genius, the lyrics in that part of the song go: 'But I won't let you down/ Oh, yeah, I will, yeah, I will, yes, I will.' So, no, he didn't add anything new to the song, but we can admit one thing: he does look more visibly emotional than other times he's sung this song live. 'Sparks' is one of Coldplay's most well-known songs, and it was a track from the band's debut album Parachutes, which was released in 2000. The song is about 'someone who tries to get someone to remember them again,' according to Genius. Now, Martin is an emotional performer, but the timing of this after his breakup from Johnson, plus how visibly emotional he looked while performing, has made people wonder how he's handling the breakup. Along with that, his previous outing with an accessory meaning 'freedom,' has got speculation brewing on how he's handling it all behind closed doors. For those who don't know, Johnson and Martin started dating in 2017 after being set up by mutual friends. They didn't confirm their relationship until a year later, but then, there was a rumor that they briefly broke up in the summer of 2019. However, they quickly reconciled, and they moved in together in 2021. While we don't know the exact time they got engaged, many sources claim it was years ago, but the two weren't too eager to set a date. But the engagement became public at the beginning of 2025. Sadly, Martin and Johnson seemingly called it quits for good in June 2025. A source spoke to The Sun about what led to their recent breakup, saying, 'They really tried to work through their issues but the age gap was often a problem and she'd expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life but they discussed it.'Best of SheKnows 23 Age-Gap Couples Who Met When One of Them Was Still a Child Everything to Know About Leonardo DiCaprio's 27-Year-Old GF Vittoria Ceretti A Look Back at Prince William's Sexiest Photos in Celebration of the Future King
