Malaysia's IGP Conferred Singapore's Distinguished Service Order

SINGAPORE, June 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was conferred the Distinguished Service Order by Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana on Wednesday.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a statement on Friday that the Order, instituted in 1968, may be awarded in special circumstances to individuals who have performed acts of distinguished conduct outside Singapore.

'Under his leadership, the bilateral relationship between the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) and the SPF was strengthened, underpinned by close cooperation in the areas of investigation, intelligence exchanges, as well as capability building and training,' the statement said.
The SPF said that Razarudin had emphasised the importance of close operational coordination between the two police forces, which had contributed to the fight against transnational crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism.
Singapore's Acting Commissioner of Police, Lian Ghim Hua, said the SPF deeply values its longstanding and steadfast partnership with the RMP.
'This close cooperation has strengthened our response to evolving cross-border challenges. We will continue to work closely with the RMP to combat transnational crime, as well as enhance joint operational effectiveness,' Lian said in the statement.
During his stay in Singapore, Razarudin also made courtesy calls on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Lian.

Police Probe AI-Manipulated Viral Video Featuring Former IGP
SHAH ALAM, June 21 (Bernama) -- The police are investigating a viral video showing an individual resembling former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah, allegedly linked to the receipt of financial aid from a person with the title 'Datuk'. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the video, which began circulating on the TikTok social media platform on June 20, was fake and had been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. 'The video, which purportedly links the former police chief to the receipt of financial assistance from an individual named Datuk Abdul Ghani, and that the money had been deposited into a bank account, is completely untrue and baseless. 'The Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters stresses that the 13th Inspector-General of Police never issued any statement as depicted in the video,' he said in a statement today. Hussein said Acryl Sani had lodged a police report denying that the video contained any official statement from him. He also advised the public not to share the video and urged them to verify the authenticity of any content before believing or disseminating it on social media. 'Selangor police take seriously the misuse of technology, such as AI, for the purpose of fraud or slander that could damage the reputation of any party. Firm action will be taken against those involved in spreading this fake content,' he said. Palestine Embassy Condemns Gaza Humanitarian Foundation
KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- The Palestine Embassy in Malaysia has condemned the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), describing the aid distribution initiative as a veiled operation that further endangered innocent aid seekers in the enclave. First Secretary of Embassy Amjad Khamaysa said the US and Israel-backed entity undermined genuine humanitarian efforts and worsen the oppression of Palestinians suffering under the regime's brutality. "They (Israel) don't allow humanitarian access to Gaza and they are establishing this Gaza Humanitarian institution. Unfortunately, these distribution centres are used to hunt Palestinians. bootstrap slideshow 'They (Palestinians) come to get aid and they are killed (by Israel) there,' he told Bernama at the 'More Than A War, It's Genocide' forum, organised by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) here, Saturday. He also condemned the regime's banning of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from carrying out its humanitarian mission in Gaza. Since May 7, Israel has been bypassing UN and international relief organisations by distributing limited aid through the GHF, which was rejected by the UN. According to Anadolu Ajansi, Palestinians seeking aid through this mechanism have become daily targets of Israeli fire, resulting in many casualties. Amjad said the embassy will continue to engage with the public to raise awareness and solidarity against the regime's ongoing genocide on Palestine and its people through various channels, including through cooperation with Malaysian civil societies and the digital sphere. Over 55,000 people in Gaza – mostly women and children – have been killed since Israel launched its aggression on October 7, 2023.
