Bahrain Extends Midday Summer Work Ban
Acting Minister of Labour, Yousef bin Abdulhussein Khalaf, has issued a new decision extending the midday summer work ban period from two to three months, effective from this year.
According to the updated regulation, outdoor work will now be prohibited daily from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM during the peak heat period from June 15 to September 15. The decision aims to protect workers from the dangers of heat stress, especially those whose job requires them to work under direct sunlight or in open areas.
Previously, the summer work ban only applied during July and August. The new amendment now includes the latter half of June and the first half of September, aligning the policy more closely with the region's intense summer climate.
The Labour Ministry emphasized that the updated rule reflects Bahrain's ongoing commitment to occupational safety and health standards and aligns with global best practices for worker welfare during extreme weather conditions. Employers are urged to comply strictly with the revised schedule to ensure the well-being of their staff.

Bahrain Expands Midday Work Ban to Three Months
Bahrain has extended its annual midday work ban to three months, effective from June 15 to September 15. The move, announced by His Excellency Mr. Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour, underscores the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to occupational safety and public health. Under the updated Ministerial Order No. (3) of 2013—recently amended by Order No. (11) of 2025—the regulation prohibits all outdoor work between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m., during which temperatures and humidity levels typically peak. 'The extension from two to three months is more than just a regulatory adjustment—it is a proactive measure to safeguard the health of workers exposed to the elements,' said Minister Khalaf. 'By reducing heat exposure during the most intense hours of the day, we are minimizing the risk of heat exhaustion, sunstroke, and other serious heat-related illnesses.' The Minister added that the initiative forms part of a broader national strategy to modernize labor laws, reduce workplace injuries, and improve overall working conditions, especially during Bahrain's searing summer months. Enforcement of the regulation will be strict, with legal repercussions for non-compliance. In accordance with Article 192 of Law No. (36) of 2012, employers found in violation may face penalties including up to three months' imprisonment, fines ranging from BHD 500 to BHD 1,000, or both. This strengthened policy reinforces Bahrain's role as a regional leader in labor rights, reflecting the nation's broader vision of sustainable development rooted in the dignity and safety of its workforce.

Jasper Meinema Takes the Medal in the Windy African & Eastern Corona Classic
The players starting in the morning had fairly good conditions, while around noon the wind started blowing with force, sometimes showering the players with sand. In the morning, it was Lee McIlear leading with a 76 gross, a great round with one unfortunate hole costing him three shots. Jasper, playing in the afternoon, had a great steady round, keeping the ball under the wind and clubbing up to be able to swing relaxed, earning him a 75 gross, which turned out to be the lowest score of the day. Lee McIlear won the first division with a net 71. Fun fact: Jasper won the same A&E Corona Classic last year. The overall winner for best net score was Susan Scott, the only player to beat her handicap with a net 69. This was a great achievement and proof once more that, despite circumstances, if you play well, nothing can stop you. Salah Musbah Al Kaabi won division two with a net 71, as did Sarah Hobday, winning division three also with a net 71. The prizes were made possible through the generous and continuing sponsorship of African and Eastern and handed out by Captain Steve Newall and TD Nathan Sundaresan.
