Diana Penty stuns in a new avatar — a no-nonsense, razor-sharp detective in Detective Sherdil, opposite the ever-entertaining Diljit Dosanjh. The trailer has just hit the internet and it's everything we didn't know we needed - mystery, comedy, and a whole lot of cat-and-mouse chaos!
And the two are out to solve a murder mystery. The film also stars Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah in crucial roles. Irani plays a business tycoon who has been murdered in broad daylight. This is yet another whodunit after Chhal Kapat, Housefull 5, Criminal Justice 4, and many more titles.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
Talking about his character, Boman Irani said, 'While the character dies early in the film, the fact is that because an investigation unfolds throughout, each suspect shares their side of the story. In their versions, the character resurfaces, talking about their relationship with them and, of course, the plot points that become contextual through these flashbacks. So, the character runs through the film, but yes, technically dies early on.'
He added, 'So, this film came to me around the Covid period it was the first film that was offered to me during that time. The director, Ravi Chhabariya, called me personally. I just love the genre the whodunnit. Some of my favourite films fall in that space: multiple suspects, one person dead, many who could have done it… and of course, the family intrigue and structure.'
'Ravi Chhabariya a young man making this film called me and said, 'Look, you may not think it's an important role, but I asked Ali Abbas Zafar, and he said maybe this is my first choice. Worst-case scenario, he might say no, but there's also a chance he might say yes.' The moment he said that, I said yes. There you go and off we went to Budapest, and had the most beautiful, experiential days. For me, the director along with the script is the most important reason to say yes to a film. And I'm really, really fond of that young man,' continued Irani.

‘Housefull 5' box office collection Day 16: Akshay Kumar's film mints Rs 170.16 crores
Akshay Kumar 's latest ensemble comedy 'Housefull 5' continues to perform strongly at the box office, with the film collecting ₹170.16 crore (India net) by the end of its 16th day. Housefull 5 Movie Review Directed by Tarun Mansukhani , the film has turned out to be a major commercial entertainer. Strong Opening Week Sets the Tone According to the Sacnilk website, the film had a thunderous start with a ₹24 crore haul on Day 1, which only picked up momentum over the first weekend. With ₹31 crore on Saturday and ₹32.5 crore on Sunday, 'Housefull 5' closed its first weekend at ₹87.5 crore. The weekday performance also held well, bringing the first week total to a solid ₹127.25 crore. Despite the expected drop post-weekend, the film maintained a decent pace throughout the weekdays and remained the top choice for family audiences and comedy lovers. Week 2 Sees Predictable Drop But Holds Decently In Week 2, 'Housefull 5' witnessed a 67.90% dip, collecting ₹40.85 crore over seven days. The second weekend managed to cushion the fall slightly with ₹6 crore on Friday, ₹9.5 crore on Saturday, and ₹11.5 crore on Sunday. However, the weekday numbers slowed down with collections ranging between ₹2.85–4.25 crore. Even in its third week, the film managed ₹2.06 crore on its third Friday (Day 15), with Saturday's numbers yet to be finalized, indicating that the film is still drawing crowds in selected centres. Star Power and Ensemble Cast Drive the Numbers With Akshay Kumar leading a large cast that includes Riteish Deshmukh , Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan , Nana Patekar , Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and more, Housefull 5 delivers the trademark slapstick chaos that fans expect from the franchise. ETimes review for the movie reads, 'The film somewhat takes off in the second half but truly sheds its stagnancy only in the climax, a bit too late. This also marks the arrival of Nana Patekar. The senior actor, a master of the genre (control Uday… control of Welcome) shows how it's done. As a dhoti clad interpol chief based in London, rooted in Maharashtra, Patekar is terrific and infuses life into this overloaded, derailed cruise. Sajid Nadiadwala tries to blend comedy with murder mystery through his script and fails at both barring the climax. It's the last 20 minutes along with Nana's entry that truly entertain you. This is what you expected Housefull 5 to be… thrilling, unpredictable and funny. Sajid even manages to conceal the identity of the killer till the end, but the humour aspect falls miserably flat.' (Also Read: Imtiaz Ali dropped Diana Penty from Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar after 3 weeks of workshop; actor says 'he felt I wasn't…') Diana Penty recalls facing body shaming for being too skinny. When asked whether she had ever been touched inappropriately while travelling on a bus or in a crowd, Diana said, "I think every girl in Bombay has gone through this. To go to college, St Xavier's, I used to take the train—the central line from Byculla to VT—and then walk to college. There's catcalling, and people try to elbow you. It became a part of daily life. I was a very shy, underconfident, conscious and awkward girl. I would go into a shell. It would scare me. I didn't have the confidence to elbow back." Diana also recalled that from the time she was a child up until around six or seven years ago, she was skinny and faced body-shaming. "It scarred me. You're a child, and if people keep telling you, 'Oh, you're so skinny, you don't eat?' And some aunties would go up to my mother and say this. She used to get so irritated—like why wouldn't I feed my child? As a child, you start becoming conscious of the fact that you're too skinny. It was awful." She shared that her mother once took her to a paediatric dietician, who advised her to feed Diana six bananas a day—though she only managed four—and still, nothing changed. Diana revealed that she has spent her life trying to gain weight and not be as skinny. She recalled that she didn't use to wear sleeveless clothes and would keep layering up to fit in with others. Diana Penty's recent and upcoming films Diana is currently seen in the movie Detective Sherdil, which also stars Diljit Dosanjh, Boman Irani, Chunky Panday, and Banita Sandhu in lead roles. The film is available to stream on ZEE5. She will next be seen in Section 84, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles. The release date for the film is yet to be announced.
