Akshay Kumar

Housefull 5 Movie Review
Directed by
Tarun Mansukhani
, the film has turned out to be a major commercial entertainer.
Strong Opening Week Sets the Tone
According to the Sacnilk website, the film had a thunderous start with a ₹24 crore haul on Day 1, which only picked up momentum over the first weekend. With ₹31 crore on Saturday and ₹32.5 crore on Sunday, 'Housefull 5' closed its first weekend at ₹87.5 crore. The weekday performance also held well, bringing the first week total to a solid ₹127.25 crore.
Despite the expected drop post-weekend, the film maintained a decent pace throughout the weekdays and remained the top choice for family audiences and comedy lovers.
Week 2 Sees Predictable Drop But Holds Decently
In Week 2, 'Housefull 5' witnessed a 67.90% dip, collecting ₹40.85 crore over seven days. The second weekend managed to cushion the fall slightly with ₹6 crore on Friday, ₹9.5 crore on Saturday, and ₹11.5 crore on Sunday. However, the weekday numbers slowed down with collections ranging between ₹2.85–4.25 crore.
Even in its third week, the film managed ₹2.06 crore on its third Friday (Day 15), with Saturday's numbers yet to be finalized, indicating that the film is still drawing crowds in selected centres.
Star Power and Ensemble Cast Drive the Numbers
With Akshay Kumar leading a large cast that includes
Riteish Deshmukh
, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt,
Fardeen Khan
,
Nana Patekar
, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and more, Housefull 5 delivers the trademark slapstick chaos that fans expect from the franchise.
ETimes review for the movie reads, 'The film somewhat takes off in the second half but truly sheds its stagnancy only in the climax, a bit too late.
This also marks the arrival of Nana Patekar. The senior actor, a master of the genre (control Uday… control of Welcome) shows how it's done. As a dhoti clad interpol chief based in London, rooted in Maharashtra, Patekar is terrific and infuses life into this overloaded, derailed cruise.
Sajid Nadiadwala tries to blend comedy with murder mystery through his script and fails at both barring the climax. It's the last 20 minutes along with Nana's entry that truly entertain you. This is what you expected Housefull 5 to be… thrilling, unpredictable and funny. Sajid even manages to conceal the identity of the killer till the end, but the humour aspect falls miserably flat.'

BMC Visits Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat After Complaints Over Rules Violation
Last Updated: However, when Shah Rukh Khan's manager was reached out to comment on the issue, she said, "There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines." A team of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in Mumbai reached Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat on Friday, which is currently under renovation. Reportedly, a joint team of forest department and BMC officials inspected the Bollywood superstar's bungalow at Bandra Bandstand after a complaint which alleged that the renovation work is violating coastal regulation zone rules. A forest department official confirmed an inspection at Shah Rukh Khan 's residence and said, 'A team did carry out a site inspection as we received a complaint about renovation permissions. A report will be prepared based on the findings and submitted soon," as quoted by ETimes. The entertainment portal also claimed that the BMC's H-West ward building and factory department, and the building proposal department officials, were asked to accompany the forest team for the inspection. 'Our officials were accompanying the team, based on a request by the forest department. We had no other role," the official said. Another official, who was also present at the time of inspection, stated that the Mannat staff who were present there told them that they would submit all documents and permissions they had taken. However, when Shah Rukh Khan's manager was reached out to comment on the issue, she told ETimes, 'There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines." Interestingly, all this comes a day after former IPS officer and lawyer Y P Singh alleged the layout of Mannat comprised one main heritage building called Villa Vienna as per the heritage regulations. 'The name of this building was changed to Mannat later. In 2005, an extension building of seven floors was made behind the heritage bungalow and since at that time Urban Land Ceiling Act was in force, a large apartment could not have been made. To overcome this legal hurdle, approval for 12 small independent flats was taken from the BMC by the owners namely Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. However, once the approval was obtained all these 12 small flats, which were essentially meant for mass housing under the Urban Land Ceiling Act, were merged and a super luxury accommodation of a single family was constructed," Singh said. 'Without the help and connivance of the municipal officers this would never have happened. Even though the Urban Land Ceiling Act is no longer in force, actions taken during the time when the Act was in force have been saved. Therefore, it is legally compulsory for the owners of Mannat to restore those 12 independent small flats immediately so that the objective of mass housing could be accomplished and the eminent principles of rule of law are upheld," he added. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan and his family are not living in Mannat as of now. Due to the renovation work, they have moved to a new building nearby. First Published:

‘Sitaare Zameen Par' Day 1 box office: Aamir Khan-starrer crosses the ₹10-crore mark
Bollywood star Aamir Khanis back on the big screen after nearly three years. The actor's Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, released worldwide on June 20, 2025. The film has gotten off to a steady start at the box office. Released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, the sports drama has collected ₹11.7 crore across the three languages on the opening day. According to the portal the movie has made ₹11.50 crore in Hindi and earned 0.05 crore and ₹0.15 crore in Tamil and Telugu respectively. Housefull 5, the film from the popular franchise, is the Sitaare Zameen Par's direct competitor, apart from the latest big-ticket bilingual, Kuberaa (starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna). Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, made Rs 1.85 crore on Friday. Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan's 2007 directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par. The movie is about an imperious basketball coach who trains a team of players with intellectual disabilities. ALSO READ:Aamir Khan interview | 'No troll can stop a good film' The Hindu review of the film says, 'Remade from the 2018 Spanish drama Campeones (Woody Harrelson starred in a 2023 English-language version), Sitaare echoes the first film's mission: raising awareness about neurodivergence. This it does in the most predictably teachable fashion. Every scene or callback is calibrated to yield a lesson, a realisation. An ideal Aamir Khan film can be both entertaining and edifying. But when the balance tilts, it's just annoying.' Aamir Khan's previous film was Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan. Also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, the movie was an adaptation of the classic Forrest Gump, headlined by Tom Hanks.

Vir Das reviews Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', finds it funny: 'Not just because it's a departure from action overload'
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das known for wooing everyone with his wit, humour and sarcasm, is also loved by fans for always putting up his views honestly on social media. Vir has now penned his thoughts on Aamir Khan 's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' which released in cinemas on Friday, June 20. The film is a remake of the Spanish film 'Champions' and stars disabled kids, apart from Aamir and Genelia D'souza Deshmukh. Vir penned his thoughts about the movie and seemed really impressed by it. He wrote, "Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar Not just because it's REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it's someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it's a departure from the action overload. But also because it's genuinely funny. In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That's basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn't. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now." The film was expected to have an opening number in single digit as it was not meant for the masses but more for the classes. Trade analysts had predicted the movie to score in the range of Rs 7-8 crore on day 1. However, it surpassed those expectations and made around Rs 11.7 crore according to Sacnilk. Due to good word of mouth, the film may see some growth on Saturday and Sunday.
