Chiefs Still AFC 'Front-Runners' With 1 Huge Question Mark originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The AFC pecking order entering the 2025 season is fluid, and with the Kansas City Chiefs coming off a brutal Super Bowl loss and a so-so offseason, this might be the year the champs fall away.

However, with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid as a quarterback/head coach combination, the Chiefs are still going to be a tough assignment, but the other teams in the AFC might smell blood in the water.
The AFC West has improved, and the Chiefs' aura of invincibility seems to have seen its shine taken off, but ESPN's Ryan Clark isn't about to throw in the towel yet.
Speaking on NFL Live, the former Pittsburgh Steeler still has the Chiefs at the top, but one thing still concerns him.
'I do think with the way that they've played year in and year out, showing up in the biggest moments, I do believe that they are the front runners,' Clark said. 'But we saw in that Super Bowl that if you don't protect Patrick Mahomes, it's extremely difficult for even the best in the business to operate.

"I don't feel like they did enough in this off season so it will be interesting to see how this offensive line gels, because we know the Buffalo Bills the Baltimore Ravens and some of those other teams at the top of the AFC will be chomping at the bit to repeat what they saw the Eagles front do in the super bowl.'

Four-year backup Jayon Moore and first-round pick Josh Simmons will occupy the left tackle spot, while Kingsley Suamataia, a left tackle last year, will shift inside to guard to take Joe Thuney's place.
That's a lot of moving parts for Mahomes to navigate, and most, like Clark, think the Chiefs' success in 2025 all boils down to whether the offensive line can adequately protect Mahomes.

A total of 36 sacks in the regular season (career high) and another 11 in three playoff games point to a position in desperate need of improvement.
And just how well the unit meshes and gels together might determine how successful the 2025 season is for the Chiefs.

Nick Sirianni's most iconic quote as Eagles head coach just met its match

Nick Sirianni trades flowers in bloom for a soliloquy about perfume and poison. Depending on how old you are and what your profession is, you've probably been guilty of rattling off coach speak at the office more times than you care to remember. Then, if you're like most, that same football jargon has probably spilled over into your personal lives. There aren't many Philadelphia Eagles die-hards who haven't glanced at their children once or twice and told them 'the standard is the standard' or to 'keep the main thing the main thing'. It's been well over eight years since that first Super Bowl victory parade. The only thing we remember is Jason Kelce's speech, something about 'hungry dogs running faster', and how 'no one likes us' and 'we don't care'. Some day down the line, most of us will offer that same advice to our grandchildren. Then, we'll talk about good ol' Nick Sirianni and how a discussion about flowers birthed one of the greatest eras of Eagles football we have ever witnessed. Nuck Sirianni may have finally topped the greatest line of his Eagles coaching era. It's amusing how life sometimes turns out. Long ago, a much younger Nick Sirianni was still trying to find his way in his first season as Eagles head coach. Philadelphia wasn't winning as often as most had hoped. Everyone was looking for answers. What did Coach do? He spoke to his team about flowers and the importance of the roots growing. He was given a hard time after that, but it worked. Since that speech, his team has made the playoffs in each of his first four NFL seasons. Sirianni has led them to the Super Bowl twice. The most recent appearance led to a dominant win and the franchise's second Vince Lombardi Trophy. So, here's an intriguing question. What does one say after that? Rest easy, everyone. Coach has got it covered. He may have outdone himself. Listen to that last part again. 'The celebration is over. Preparation is here... Now, it's a little different. You gotta handle success. It's a different animal... Treat praise like perfume. Sniff it, don't drink it—it's poison.' Seriously, what does one say after that? Bravo Coach. After watching Philadelphia accomplish everything they have after a speech about flowers, what might we expect to see now? The Eagles report to training camp on July 22. They'll be ready. Fewer times has anything been more certain.

30 Most Important Eagles of 2025: No. 29 Azeez Ojulari

Every day from now until the start of training camp, we're counting down our 30 Most Important Eagles for the 2025 season. The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for Super Bowl defense, which features plenty of new and returning faces within the organization. Several players, coaches, and front-office members are crucial to the team's success this season. Every day from now until the start of training camp, we're counting down our 30 Most Important Eagles for the 2025 season. We'll recap their 2024 season, look ahead to 2025, and tackle the most significant question facing them this year. Next up is Azeez Ojulari, a former Georgia Bulldog and Giants draft pick who has the talent to post double-digit sacks in his first year with the Eagles. Background Position: OLB Age: 25 Experience: 5-year vet 2025 cap hit: $1,672,000 2024 recap The 6-foot-3, 250-pound player posted six sacks in 11 games in the 2024 season. 2025 outlook At just 24 years old, the savvy edge rusher has a chance to make an impact for Philadelphia within Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio's scheme. The pass rusher has been up and down, but when he's up, Ojulari can be impressive. Ojulari was the odd man out to start last season, playing just 37 percent of the defensive snaps and logging only one sack in the first five games. After Thibodeaux suffered a wrist injury, that opened the door for Ojulari. The 24-year-old made the most of his return to the starting lineup with five sacks in three games and finished the season with eight. Biggest question: Can Ojulari replace Josh Sweat's production? Like Josh Uche, Ojulari could cash out with a big season rushing the passer in Philadelphia. In his first year in the league, he broke the Giants' record for sacks by a rookie with eight. In four years in the NFL, Ojulari has compiled 37 QB hits, 22 sacks, and 21 tackles for loss in 46 games. This time last year, Zack Baun quietly signed a one-year deal with the Eagles after exiting New Orleans with unfulfilled potential and a desire to be a starter. Fast forward, Baun switched positions and earned a starting role, Pro Bowl, and All-Pro honors while becoming a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year award. Baun turned that into a three-year deal, and Ojulari could cash out similarly. 30 Most Important Eagles of 2025 We're counting down our 30 Most Important Eagles of 2025.
